Thank you!!! After spending 3 days and about $60 replacing fuses and relays, I found your video and fixed my focus. It was that darn little wire that you said didn't look like much...thanks for posting this video, it saved me much grief...
Another thing to check on a Manual Transmission Focus, is the Clutch Pedal Safety Switch. I replaced a starter and didn't need it, it was the Clutch Safety Switch under the dash all along.
This was well needed & used at the right time! I mean sincerely thanks, I'm no mechanic & wouldn't have known where to start looking! I appreciate this!
mine actually was severed from the harness, wired it back together, car started right up. outstanding advice, thank you thank you thank you. Mike you are awesome.
@@Mikefngarage any tips for an "intermittent" clicking sound and electrical power off/on... NOW ... that has just become a "constant" no power (open the door: no dome, Turn lights or hazards, nothing Turn key nothing ..no power at all (Except a faint red glow on the little red led near the hazard flasher button, but when keyboard turned goes out) ...and no more clicking either... all grounds tested good, new battery, good voltage ...but nothing (automatic transmission)
Add my voice to the chorus of thank yous! Like so many others below--cleaned up the connections of those little insignificant looking but very important wires that attach at the negative on the battery and it worked like a charm! Really appreciate the time you took to make this video. Now we can get to work tomorrow!
Thank MIGHT be my issue. I did a motor swap and it was working FINE. one day I took it on the road for a actual test drive. and after that I couldn't start it . One day I pulled the starter of and all of a sudden , under the hood, sparks flew and the starter went mad. I had a short on the battery harness. EVEN I polished all the ground in regards to the battery.SO I ran a new ground from the batter to the transmission and it works fine... BUT NOW after driving it for 2 days in a row ,after 3 years(in the rain) it was acting up again... 'm thinking using wrap and wrapping all alum hoses under that hood
Thank you boss. You saved me load of money and headache. I Dd what u suggested and my car start right away 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽. I tapped the fuse box and it work. But how do u fix it for good. Thank you much sir.
My 02 focus zts was stolen got it back without any keys so I thought changing the whole column with a used one with its keyring and key would work everything comes one but no crank no start please help
Hello Sir! I need your help from Sweden! I have a I pulled out my stereo and then put it inside but now everything works on the Dashboard but nothing happen no crancs no start nothing battery is ok, can you help me?
those 2 red wires seems like they are not the factory wire color, can you tell me the harness color of those, i have a blu/black wire liying around but dont want to try and connect it randoml, the black one thaat goes to the harness near to the fender is very important is the ground for the PCM regards
Had battery tested was definitely bad needed replacement which i did . Still taking more than one try to start . Was told by experienced mechanic that it's not starter since a bad starter wouldn't crank at all ? Is this true ? Soo was definitely bad battery but is it just coincidence that this happened at same time ? Coulld bad battery cause this other problem ? Unfortunately also when I replaced battery I left air flow sensor disconnected ( disconnected to get in battery ) and ran it for test drive . Soo now mass or volume air flow sensor code PO103 showed up along with PO113 Intake air temp sensor . Hope it's not stupid question 0 but could a bad batterry plus me running it with mass / v9olume air flow sensore disconected caused this and what's the solution ?
Just in case....I've been told ( I haven't confirmed it) the small ground wire goes to the computer. I just finished repairing a short from the +12 side of the battery cable (a smaller wire that goes back into a harness up by the mass airflow connector) to the EGR tube. Everything lights up but still no start. I pulled the two diodes ... both show they're open. Looks like I also need a couple new diodes. I'll go to the local "You-pull-it." Ford wants close to 15 bucks EACH for those diodes.
@@Mikefngarage I ended up replacing the whole starter cable assembly, the starter solenoid (it was toast) one 30 amp and one 20 amp fuse. Turned out the diode was ok. Car started up and all is fine. 55 bucks for the cable (through a local Ford dealer) and 24 bucks for the starter solenoid.
Actually if you’re on a tight budget and need the car to start and the key is the only problem. Have chip less key made and put it in the ignition while holding the key with the chip in side by side. I’m told that this will work.
2013 focus junk box! I’m having the same issue! I replaces starter $230 I replaced the negative battery cable $75, replaced 3 relays one for ignition one for starter and another one for the ecm. That was about $60. Also lost time at work went to lunch wouldn’t start for well over an hr. Starts fine cold but when I drive it and turn off and go to start again nothing. Oh the battery is good and also would not start with jumpers on it. So WTF!
So i pulled into my driveway and my car would not shift into park or anything besides neutral so i shut the car off with my hand brake up. The car won't start, it will turn over so i can play music, roll down windows but won't start or shift. What can i do?
I never did pinpoint the problem I only have had to tap on it about every other year. you would need to remove the box and check the other side to see if there is a bad wire. This is an involved procedure. First check those 2 diodes to see if they are soldered correctly or replace them then if you really want to fix it you will need to remove the whole fuse box and check the other side. I have never done it So I could not really guide you on that issue.
If the battery light comes on when you start it up after a minute there is something wrong with the battery because that happened to us yesterday and now it won’t start we recently had an alternator replace
probably new alternator bad. Did you get it at autozone. if so that is probably it. Battery light usually indicates it is not charging. Also could be bad battery cables. or wires from there. jump start and use volt meter to check should be at around 14v while running.
I got kinda the same issue the car has no power tho when i turn the key theres nothing the car got the alternator replace I drove 20 milea and then it died no power at all what do I do
