A video road test of the Ford Fusion MPV-cum-supermini-cum-SUV. With a design nearly ten years old, does the Fusion still make sense with cars like the C-MAX and Kuga in the Ford range and glazed versions of vans elsewhere on the market?
Unless you've owned a Fusion you wont appreciate its practicality, its also fun to drive under 60mph. Reviews like this dont represent real peoples needs
Nice car I bought it new in 2005 (the facelift) for 14.000€. My wife loved it. Very reliable, 4 star NCAP safety rating (Ford chassis), easy maintenance. Not fast (80PS) but economical. Basically a tall Fiesta. Nowadays it's all about electronics.
A poor review on this great car. I have just this month picked up a 2010 Fusion Plus 1.6 Auto (pre-owned) for my wife's parents. Both are in their late 70's & this car ticks all the boxes. The height of the vehicle makes getting in & out very easy for them. There is space in the boot to fit the mobility scooter with space to spare. The trim level on the Plus (+) version is high. Heated front & rear screens, AC, electric front windows, Tinted rear glass, parking sensors, Alloy wheels Sony stereo. The auto box is smoothness its self. Which is great as the mother-in-law can no longer drive a manual vehicle, & parking is easy. Running cost are the same as a Fiesta so cheap. If there is a downside its not due to Ford's its the cost of the road tax. £250 a year is steep as its only a 1.6lt. At the end of the day you buy a car to suit your needs & a Fusion could be just what you need.
Ford and Yamaha developed 1.6 engine (I love this 99bhp engine in my friends Focus), Aisin 80/81-40LE 4 speed auto transmission, Built in Germany at Cologne Body & Assembly in the Niehl district of Cologne. A decent Fiesta chassis, probably sharp brakes like other Fords I have driven. And that bit of extra height for curbs, speed bumps, general comfort, countryside roads, snow, pot holes and extra visibility. I used to think these were a joke granny car, but now I am 29 and wiser it certainly ticks a lot of boxes.
Well...I drive a Ford Fusion. I have it for 3 years now. I bought it from a family member so the price was really fair. She took good care of the car and it's near perfect in terms of technical condition. But I gotta say, it's not more comfortable than a Fiesta when driving over bumps and bad roads. In fact I think it's the other way around. The suspension feels exactly the same but the car is higher so get shaken more than in a Fiesta. But still I'm quite happy with this car. At first I only bought it because of the good prize but now I got used to the perks. You can transport stuff with a car with relativly small outer dimensions. The car has not very much technical problems. The fuel-economy is okay and you have nice overview over the road without needing to drive a huge car, wich comes in really handy when you live in a city. Otherwise you rarely get pulled over by the police :) .
I had a metallic blue one 09 reg The previous owner only used it for short distances I only had for three months,as I had been cleared to drive by the DVLA Unfortunately I had an epileptic fit whilst driving it I wasn't hurt as I was only going very slowly, but it got wrote off😢
It's a negative review of Ford Fusion european version... american version is totally different, I don't even understand why they used one name for 2 different vehicles.
I agree that "Utilitarian is the best thing you can say about it". I test-drove one of these and it felt horribly cheap and was zero fun to drive. And the back seats don't fold down sensibly flat.
I was unlucky with my 2005 ford fusion 1.4 tdci. I bought it privately from gum tree off a polish man, the engine died 3 weeks later. Lesson learnt go to a trader with warranty and get hpi check dont be a cheap skate. But as a first car i loved it the fuel economy was great , but it was slow , my dad put a second engine inside of it when the first one died at 85000 miles. Im now driving a volvo saloon. My advice is for a first car get petrol yaris 2006 atleast or a polo . Only buy ford or french cars if it has warranty.
Fiesta is a Great car...I think model is more important than brand...2nd hand yaris (great car) tend to be vastly overpriced...for 1st cars go petrol never go diesel
@@action963 I scrapped the Ford Fusion diesel. Very shit unreliable kept breaking down. Go for a Japanese or German diesel. Never Ford or french cars u will regret it .
@@action963 I do over 100miles a day. Currently I’m driving a petrol car 1.6 litre. It hurting me everyday puttin in £10 or £20 . The diesel are just cheaper. Even if u drive in towns . U will have to drive it hard on the motorway /highway to clean the dpf. Petrol is faster but burns faster too . Diesel a little slow but burns slow 💯
Ive had 2 this clot knows nothing, all the cars mentioned are a class above, focus astra et al, and not a far comparison. He got one thing right. Diesel is the best engine.
