Didn't they slap this thing together in a matter of weeks? I know it lost the first le mans race when most were DNF but once they ironed out all of the problems they dominated and embarrassed Ferrari lol
@@spamcan9208 I believe you're thinking of the Cobra Daytona Coupe which went from a drawing on the shop floor to completed racer in 90 days. All MKl and MKll GT40s were DNF in '64 and '65.
I can't believe this car was designed in the 1960s, the gt40s design is timeless, gorgeous, and modern! It still looks Beautiful 50+ years later! One of the best looking race cars of all time!❤
@@kwl189 - It's the old adage "form follows function." Like the famous Super marine Spitfire fighter and the P51 Mustang - both cheated the wind with spectacular speed abilities and both were stunning looking!
How good was it to see number 82 in black and white livery going round the track. Like going back in time 50 so years. Imagine being at Lemans then! Great stuff. RIP Ken Miles.
Thanks guys for those video. We are able to see what we do: mechanic and warm-up. We can also see those cars on the track! I hope we can meet again very soon. Loïc
Such a pleasure Loic. I can only imagine how satisfying is for you all to see yourself back working of these magnificent cars. And thanks a lot for your amazing availability, really hope to see you again in the upcoming future! (Sorry for this late answer)
GRANDS MERCI POUR CETTE VIDÉO C est magnifique avoir vécu plus de 50 année avec L AUTOMOBILE ANCIEN PILOTE SANS NOM HEUREUX DE REDÉCOUVRIR CES BELLES DU MANS SOUVENIRS OH OUI Marcel PANTET/BOCHUD
you can see where bruce mclaren got his ideas from . after all bruce and chris amon tested the first gt40 in england , thank you eric broadley for your lola gt .
😂 @ 0:21 who yeeted that water bottle under the car? Older cars have this raw sound, even at idle. I don't know why though. I wish I could explain the difference in sound I'm hearing better.
@@TTURBOVOLVO the big cams are definitely one aspect but there's something else that makes them sound more mechanical. I'll have to go listen to a bunch of V8 engines throughout the decades and maybe I can come up with a better description. Although I'm too lazy to do that any time soon lol.
@@udontknowme1654 even old cars had mufflers and people will strait pipe new cars so I don't think it's that. I guess I can't fully rule it out either. Yamaha engineers might know, they specialize in automotive sound.
Классика рулит задние катки взаде широкие красава обороты на выходе большие демоны дорог шелби даитона тоже классика рулит и будет рулить 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪✌✌👍🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
Whenever I see a GT40 in a video, I can always see how it drives good, but a bit slipery on corner exit for example. But that car was a pinacle in it's time. This got me thinking, if this car by the look of it was still a beast to drive, then how bad the previous generation of racing cars were?
It's interesting how much different and more powerful the sound of a Cobra Daytona Coupe is over the GT40 MKl. They essentially have pretty much the same engine - 289 cu. in. in the Daytona and bored out to 302 cu. in. in the MKl, with both sporting 4 - twin choke Weber carbs. The Daytona's exhaust headers and side pipes made the difference in sound. The Daytona was actually faster than the early GT40 MKl cars!
Are these any different than they were in the 60's? Any more safety features, better tires, weight reduction, or other things like that? They are replicas right?
