On this engine torque setting for the Injector was 52Nm As per Ford Specs see below: Fuel injectors (115 PS engine) = 47 Nm (35lb-ft) Fuel injectors (75/85 and 100 PS engine)= 52 Nm (38lb-ft)

Great help this video, would you say it’s possible for oil to come up the injector and dampen the injector union? I only ask as my no1 is wet and doesn’t appear to smell of diesel although I do have a cold right now .
@AutoBuddynz
@AutoBuddynz Год назад
Check your rocker cover injector seal, that could be the possibility of oil contamination.

Hi great video, is there a copper washer on a bottom of the injector and if so will it come out with injector or stay in the head ? As would have to be replaced with new one be a bit of a pain if it stays in ?
@AutoBuddynz
@AutoBuddynz Год назад
Thanks! Most of the time it comes out with the injectors. However there can be times with its cracked or similar and may stay in the head. Just check each injector upon removal. They are also referred to as fire sealing washers.

Hi Good video, I have similar 2003 2.0lt transit with 65000 mile on it and in excellent condition EX BT last year I had a new diesel pump, tank and fuel line cleaned out with a new primer pump added to the fuel line, also had new timing chain tensioner's and sensor and runs like a dream but now it seems to be running on three cylinders starts still of the button but runs as though one of the injectors are at fault. but what is the best way to find out which one ???
@AutoBuddynz
@AutoBuddynz 2 года назад
If you have mechanical injectors as seen in this video pull them all out and send them for testing, very easy for a diesel spec workshop to test these, normally within 30mins all injectors can be tested.

My injectors come with a metal washer on the bottom and my parts guy can't find a fire washer for the engine , can i reuse the metal one ?
@AutoBuddynz
@AutoBuddynz 3 месяца назад
Thats correct, the washers can get stuck to old injectors. Try a Ford Dealership they should have the washers

Hi. Good advice, but how do you clean the base of the injector hole to ensure a good seal ? Thanks.
@AutoBuddynz
@AutoBuddynz 3 года назад
Yes absolutely, I use cotton squabs dipped with a bit of brake cleaner to clean that area. Be careful not to drop any dirt into the cylinder.

My transit has the same engine and it has a knock on start up but once I Rev the van for about 5-10 seconds it goes away , I’ve been told it only started doing it once it had a oil filter change . What are your thoughts on this?
@AutoBuddynz
@AutoBuddynz 3 года назад
Definitely service it, with a new oil filter but crucially put the right type of oil into the engine. If its done higher kms and is worn run a full synthetic 5w40 if you suspect the wrong oil was added. However the fact you say it goes away after 5 - 10 secs points to the timing chain tensioner or something timing related. The injectors can be tested but I would start would a good service as its the easiest.

Awesome thanks I’ve got it booked in This week will let you know the outcome , see what the next step is
@AutoBuddynz
@AutoBuddynz 3 года назад
Its important to use the right type of diesel compliant oil in any chain driven engine, it might be worth checking for any stored fault codes as well. Transits (depending on your year) normally do not illuminate a check engine light warning unless its a major fault. I've seen multiple transits which have a minor to moderate misfire and no check engine light is displayed, however there were stored fault codes.
@bazza8746
@bazza8746 3 года назад
@@AutoBuddynz It’s a 2001 Ford transit same engine as this . I’m still yet to book it in due to covid everyone is still very busy . Is it an expensive fix if it’s the timing chain or has a misfire ?
@AutoBuddynz
@AutoBuddynz 3 года назад
Depends on your local garage, cost varies a lot. The parts it self are relatively affordable, I've personally used BGA timing kits which have been fantastic. Like I said earlier get the workshop to use a proper ford scanner and check for fault codes, otherwise get it scanned at your local Ford Dealership, then proceed to the next steps.

Are the copper injector seals the same on the mk7 injectors as the mk6 injector?
@AutoBuddynz

It most cases yes. But this can vary due to change overs with TDCI etc

@AutoBuddynz
@AutoBuddynz 2 года назад
You would need a special tool for the TDCI injectors. You would need an injector puller for a TDCI engine. This mainly works for DI type injectors. You could try the method shown here but be careful of the electrical connector.

Do you have a video like this for piston rings?
@AutoBuddynz
@AutoBuddynz 2 года назад
Unfortunately, not at this point in time. What exactly do you need to know?
@JP-ed2bz
@JP-ed2bz 2 года назад
@@AutoBuddynz Basically I have just fitted new Injector nozzles as my van the same as this was diagnosed with a dripping Injector as it kicks out white smoke when revved however the new nozzles and an egr clean has made no difference whatsoever? Thinking maybe the piston rings have had it? Is it true you cannot change the rings on this van without pulling the engine?
@AutoBuddynz
@AutoBuddynz 2 года назад
The piston rings can be replaced with the engine in the vehicle, but it makes life a lot easier to remove the engine and complete the work on a stand or table. In order to do it with the engine in place, the cylinder head, associated parts and oil pan will have to be removed this will provide access to the crankshaft and connecting rods. What I would suggest before doing any of this work, do a compression and leak down test to determine if the piston rings are at fault and definitely the cause of the problem. You will be able to pinpoint the exact cylinder causing the issue. It could even be a head related issue with the valve seat or similar.
@JP-ed2bz
@JP-ed2bz 2 года назад
Yes I agree that is the right way to go, unfortunately I don't have a compression or leak down testers but will purchase them and hire a compressor for the day. My issue with removing the engine is my van is kept in a storage yard and the ground is gravel so rules out trolly jacks and engine hoist & I don't think there is room to get engine hoist in place as the engine sits so far back under the scuttle so I may just have to struggle with it in place.. Fingers crossed on the tests turn out OK 🤞. One thing to note is that the air filter was soggy due to water ingress to the airbox and the fibres have traveled as far down as the intercooler so they've also passed through the turbo so I will be removing and checking the condition of the turbo aswell.
@AutoBuddynz
@AutoBuddynz 2 года назад
@@JP-ed2bzI would highly recommend checking the turbo first, after learning about the air filter, its a straight foward easy test would take less than 30 mins, i had made a video on inspecting a turbo on a sprinter, principles are exactly the same for the transit. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7Lk0t-oO_p4.html Depending on where you live you can also just hire a leak down tester with a compressor, ideally if your removing the glow plugs in order to do the tests i would recommend spraying them down at least 1 week prior with WD40 or something similar. I also have a video on this regarding the glow plugs, if one gets stripped in the head its an absolute nightmare. Alternatively you could carry out the tests with the individual injectors removed instead just takes longer and only some kits have this accessory.
