They know something is wrong with them. What they are hoping is to DUPE everyone else into NOT seeing what is wrong with them. There needs to be an outside organization constantly watching cases and court proceedings. These people hold a lot of power in their hands and if they don't have someone watching, this will continue to happen.
I agree, it's just hard to find a solution. Some people have suggested that a 3rd party mediator or public advocate be added to the DA's office. The idea being, this allows for our tax funded legal system to also provide representation for the local citizens. As it stands, the police dept and prosecutor's office have incentives to work as a team. Adding a public advocate to the mix could at least attempt to prevent cases like this from being covered up. But there are some risks associated with this too. Like, who could be trusted to be put in such a sensitive position. Because the job would implicitly involve access to confidential details that should remain confidential. The public should have someone that they can depend on to disclose pertinent information to them but that has to be weighed against not jeopardizing an on-going investigation. In theory, I think having a public advocate involved in the process could be a good thing but in practice, there are some potential issues. I dunno if you have ever watched the TV show, The Shield, but there is an entire season that involves the police department trying to adjust to having citizen auditors. The City Council formed a citizen committee to act as advocates to the citizens and they rotate in members of that committee to different depts. In the show, the woman who was assigned the job is given quite a bit of access. IIRC, she basically had the same level of access as a District Attorney. She could inspect case files, review past cases as well as force investigations into corrupt officials. The show actually did a good job with that story arc because the main protagonists of the show were blatantly corrupt and she was sent in because she would not be an enabler of that corruption. However, as the season progresses, you begin to see some of the possible harm that can be inadvertently caused by people with good intentions.
That is how ALL narcissists think. This isn't unique or special, it's entirely predictable and part of the diagnostic criteria for their personality pathology. You may think I'm kidding, but I could not be more serious. Decades of research backs this up.

I drove twelve miles to find a clear area to walk. Especially if the scenery is different that makes me feel good. Neighborhoods does not mean the road to it is private when public funding repairs the roads that lead into that neighborhood. I love looking at the way people have flowers arranged in there yard. I like taking pictures of the flowers. People have the right to roam this world safely. To be able to admire the different building the structure dreaming if I can have a house like that. What about the cop who lied about checking Ahmauds pulse? He stood there and did nothing while Ahmaud took his last breath. You can hear it on the body cam video. That cop and the female “cop”/maid should be held accountable as well. Also, the cop who told Travis to go home and get a glass of tea and If he didn’t mind, to come talk to them. That same cop tried to crop the video before allowing Roddy to go home with the evidence. All this was caught on his body cam. Why aren’t they jobless right now?

It's good to see actual accountability for those in seats with this type of authority. In the last 20 years there have been several cases where the DA office withheld evidence that could change the outcome of cases. Those people are only losing their licenses but people lost their lives. They need to be held accountable.
