I wish y’all were in FL. Having such a hard time adjusting gains even bought a $250 fluke multimeter but I guess I’ll have to take it to someone. Is it normal to have a little buzz/hiss sound if I have a jl audio Bluetooth CRXV2?
@SoundsGoodStereo
@SoundsGoodStereo 2 года назад
No, buzzes and weird noises are not normal and they can be resolved. Not sure exactly what is causing it, but don’t give up!!

@@SoundsGoodStereo I called JL audio and the guy never heard of it either so I got a free replacement amp coming back it will be here after the 4th 😫
@SoundsGoodStereo
@SoundsGoodStereo 2 года назад
Yea, might not be the Bluetooth but rather the type of RCAs, grounding. But I do hope that resolves the issue as troubleshooting can take a while 👍👍

I have a question about setting gains with the DD-1, and which method should be used. When determining max clean volume on the headunit should the RCA directly from the headunit be plugged into the DD-1, or should the RCA be plugged into the amp with its gain turned all the way down and use the test probes at the speaker output terminals. The manual that came with the DD-1 says that it (Recommends) testing/determining the headunits max clean volume through the amp with the RCA plugged into the amp with gain turned all the way down and using the test probes at the speaker terminals. I would think the best way would be the way that is done in this video with pugging the RCA directly into the DD-1. When I tried doing it both ways I got two different clean max volumes numbers that is why I ask this question.
@SoundsGoodStereo
@SoundsGoodStereo Год назад
The reason for two different readings are more than likely a crossover, EQ, subsonic, etc is effecting the reading. You must make sure nothing is interfering with your testing.

We do not. No more retail work, no more boats or anything along those lines. Not sure on what batteries are the best for the marine environment, just not in that world at the current moment.

So the Wetsounds 420 EQ doesn't really do anything other than add microphone capability? Do you just leave all the controls set to maximum since you are controlling zones with the Fusion?
@SoundsGoodStereo
@SoundsGoodStereo 3 года назад
We left them with no extra boost, so flat. We tested them with the distortion meter just to confirm it was not going to degrade the sound.
@bradbrockman7374
@bradbrockman7374 3 года назад
@@SoundsGoodStereo so did you just run the tower speakers through it? Since it only has one input, right?
@stompylee
@stompylee 3 года назад
Fusion makes a dedicated mic for the Apollo. That and the new head unit is going in my boat next.
@bradbrockman7374
@bradbrockman7374 Год назад
@@SoundsGoodStereo so after dealing with this unit for some time learned a few things. AUX 1 input can be used with a mic and telemute will silence the music when mic keyed up, so kinda waste to leave the WS420 in the system, adding confusion to someone that sits down at the helm. And in the demo part of the video you mentioned that each zone had a sub output but you gave it it's own zone to control it. If you hold in on the control knob it will bring up the sub volume for that zone, so it is controllable without getting into settings.

And why for all the things that are holy is he using Bluetooth instead of airplay with Wifi? It’s Airplay and DSP that made me spend the money on this upgrade.

funny you say as I did a system on a beer can recently . He also wanted RGBW strips down each can. there was so much noise coming from the west marine controller, I just prayed he wouldn't listen at low volume with strip lights on, the engine off as he sipped his can of claw looking cool hoping for a blow from his wife lol " what's that humming sound honey.. never mind dear.. as you were"

VEEEEEEERY time consuming install. lots of channels. A ton of work to bring this all together. obviously a good customer paying for quality equipment and a quality install. Def Not a job that could be done dockside without distraction from dozens of nosy marina guests constantly dropping by to talk. been there. i was recently fooled by the DD1 for the first time last month this time installing a system on a Rockford head. DD1 was noting distortion nearly right out of the gate. I thought it was a faulty head because it had previously been running a 2 ohm load on deck power so I figured it was cooked. I had customer order a new replacement head, same result. so I was like wtf and called Rockford and they said that model head was not a true licensed model and had been discontinued. He followed up by saying the DD1 measures distortion at 1%. The moral of the story Is I wasted a lot of time when it turns out it was the head unit signal was not "clean enough" . Since then I started using a scope so I could see the sine wave rather than the led pilot indicator. i still use the DD1 and do love it, but the scope is a nice tool to double check. Very nice work. Love the starboard drop in. Did you use deutsch connectors as well. I wouldn't be surprised with the level of detail you put into this system. Is there a capacitor going in too? How many batteries in his house bank? are they deep cycle? dual purpose? , AGM? FLA ? 24's, 27's 31's? Did you need a signal splitter or were you able to run each head unit zone directly to each amp? Since you have so many channels, did you have to combine any coaxials into a 2 ohm load or were you able to keep the amps at 4 ohms throughout? Impressive. That is a massive amount of work.
@SoundsGoodStereo

Thanks for the comments! A DD1 works great, but only if you are familiar with the gear. We also have every other tool in our arsenal just in case we need to dive deeper... Regarding the exact system, I'm not sure what else electrical wise the customer had. It's been a long time since we did this install. Thanks again
