Kid Adam came up with his fake demon list before they went out and got their first real demon, so it was before he "saw" any of it for himself. He was just a kid acting on a kid's impulse to try and get rid of his bully.

I adore this film. Brilliantly directed & acted & the biggest surprise is just how good the two lead kids are. They really sell whats happening.

This is a very under appreciated film. I saw it for the first time last year & it has nowhere near the mass media attention I think it needs

I was impressed with Bill Paxton’s direction. I’ll never forget the sun shining down on the barn with the ax in it as he’s driving down the road. RIP to an icon of some of the finest films ever made.

Bill Paxton did a phenomenal job with this movie. It is one of my favorites of his. I would recommend his lesser talked about horror film Mortuary (1983), if you haven't already seen it. Your new camera is awesome. Nice crisp picture and sound. Thank you for another awesome video 😎😎😎😎😎

This movie really FREAKED me out when I viewed. Makes you question what is good vs what is evil. So many twists. One is the death of older brother Fenton, once Fenton swings an axe into his fathers heart. Little Adam comes for Fenton with the same axe and kills him. But that kill seen is repeated in adulthood between the 2 brothers. Thats why the police raid a home owned by Fenton. Its not Fenton at all...its Adam, whose psyche split when he was a kid and killed his brother. Split personality. The movie ends with Adam reclaiming his life....he works in law enforcement, is married, and has a pregnant wife, who is unaware of his history, the fact that he murdered his brother, or that Fenton murdered his Father.

Hi Jason. I always liked this movie. I have not seen it in years but I watched it a few times when it was on cable and then purchased the DVD. Solid review. The twists and performances really made this movie. Your audio and video was good, no issues.

Great discussion, audio and visual quality are good. I always had the notion that the film explored the idea of confirmation bias and mental fragility or frailty. The ending was cool too.

Just a great film, really miss Bill Paxton and Powers Boothe, the ending when Matthew tells Powers God will protect me love it, funny note is that an underground rap group I listen to that used to be affiliated with Insane Clown Posse is called the Axe Murder Boyz and one of the 2 brothers in the group goes by name Otis (same name carved on the axe) when they first came out he's now since changed his name to young wicked.

I enjoyed this. I saw the twist with the FBI agent being on the list coming very early on but there are so many twists in this movie that it still surprised me on many occasions. Not one of my favorite thrillers but it's an enjoyable and pretty dark journey.

I agree about endings changing a whole movie or show. Like, I Loved the Queen's Gambit but it's a chess champion movie. I was nervous it'd simply end with her winning and told myself just to enjoy the amazing ride. And then - Spoilers! - it focused on what really mattered and her growth and was such a home run that inside I was on my feet cheering.

Oh Shit, I have watched this movie so many times and I think I just figured out that God did give Fenton a vision in the root cellar and told him that he really was a demon. That is why he asked to be buried in the rose garden.

I don't understand your interpretation about the path Paxton and his son taking being "the right path". The movie is about a cruel god who destroys an entire family. Why? Why did this god have to go about it this way? Yes, they brought justice to bad people, but it was at the expense of a family. That's where the horror derives from. It's why the story is told from the perspective of the skeptical son even though it's not narrated by him. If it was told from the perspective of Paxton's character it would be different.
@j.g.michael3229
@j.g.michael3229 7 месяцев назад
You mention the father is loyal to god, but he doesn't betray his son in the movie even though he's told the skeptical son is a demon. You're supposed to sympathize with the skeptical son. Again, what makes it horrifying in my view is that a god would go about meting out justice this way. It's a very good movie.

Btw not being anti-religious here. Talking about the "God" within the context of the movie's universe. It's a character within the film.
@sinistercinemareviews5420
@sinistercinemareviews5420 7 месяцев назад
I don’t remember saying they took the right path, that they were actually “right”. They were actually right, not that I think what they did is right. Big difference. But maybe I did say that, this was years ago.

After watching a movie that I really enjoyed that's kind of underrated I'll sometimes go through the YT reviews. Saw yours and being big on your reviews thought I'd offer my two cents on how I saw the film. Didn't mean to come off as all "your wrong Sinister Sinema my interpretation is correct". Not my intent.

Nah, it's really great the second time, because you can think about things, not thrown for loops like the first time through. How you are aware of how it is narrated in a misleading way to the agent, etc., gives a better perspective and allows you to think about broader implications all throughout the movie. I've seen this movie like 4 times since it came out, the first two times in the first year, and then again several years later, and then again just recently (which brings me here) Most movies are watch once for me, especially in horror genre, but this is a true exception.

So you cracked me up "I would've been Fenton".....Great review...I'm sad Bill Paxton is gone too but man did he leave behind some good stuff, and yes the Ending is what sells the entire movie....kinda sits with you....it's like they were setting a trap the whole movie and the ending is the Gotcha!
