It has been a while but our 2015 GMC Terrain Denali is back for us to continue our repair. This time we will do it right. It looked like a little job but to do it the correct way was much more involved than most expect. There are plenty of people out there that would pull it and leave it or worse, but I am not one of them. There is a correct repair procedure for everything out there and this is it for Terrain frame rails.

Scott, I’ve been binge watching your back catalogue of videos and tutorials over your years of filming this kind of work. Your integrity and moral compass in doing things the ‘right way’and not just the fastest is inspiring. If only everyone was as honest and conscientious, especially in the motor trade. So interesting to see just how much work is involved in correct repairs, along with a very dry sense of humour which goes down very well on this side of the pond. Thank you, and best wishes for the future from over in the U.K.

it is nice to see a professional do a job right. Watching another youtube channel working on there 2019 GMC 3500 and they didn't primer any bare metal areas before permanently putting the fenders back together. The comment section didn't care for me questioning the brothers' skills.
@vehcor
@vehcor 4 года назад
If I know the build you are talking about, the heating of the frame scared me. The lack of primer is just going to cost money down the road. The frame could cost a life. The people that watch those videos do not understand there is a proper way to do it and I don't think they care.

David P - The man is good I learn a lot from watching his vids. He says " it is more involved than most people realize " that's cause he does it the right way he was the first one I ever seen use that body measuring tool and what he calls not hard well like I said before I would hate to see what he calls a hard fix. I'm not a Chevy guy but I would buy one from him after he's worked on it. I TRUST THIS MAN and for me that says a lot.

As always Scott, great job. Really helps people understand the processes, and you do the right job! Always look forward to your information. I like the seam seal job, I learned one that matches a little closer to factory as you mentioned, you were not really trying to replicate. Apply the sealer, then with light air pressure, and in an pattern it will spread it to look much closer to the factory. Not saying your's wasnt good. Just another method. Thanks, fan in Canada!
@vehcor
@vehcor 4 года назад
I find an acid brush with light pressure will duplicate most factory seam seal looks. I have done quite a few new dealer cars that had to look unrepaired. This was a different seem sealer than I usually use, it dries in 10 minutes. The stuff I normally use takes 24 hours or more if it is thick. Thanks for the tip and support.

So true about the usefulness of frame benches on newer cars. The new 911s are considered 'no-pull' chassis. Even though they put them on a fixture bench, you are not supposed to make pulls on them. You are supposed to remove and replace the damage instead.

I've really enjoyed your videos. Of course, there are several other folks making unibody repair videos, but I really like how you stop to explain little caveats that can save lots of time and frustration. You don't get that from other videos. One suggestion would be to add a little mobile footage here and there. The fixed cameras don't do a good job explaining where you are on the car. For example, when you start the footwell work, start outside the car and walk up to that place, then switch to the fixed camera for the repair. That way we know exactly where you are. Great editing too man. Please keep it up.

I myself prefer welding, you can see it and as your welding and know you got good penetration, spot welds your relying hope more than anything, I have had spots that look good but never bonded the metal together. Yes it's faster with less work but plug welds are, to me, far superior. Maybe because im old but so be it. Awesome video Scott and a tip I was shown, use your torch to heat the join to allow it to expand making removing and install a little easier. Don't need it to turn red just good and warm works well.
