I just realized why part of the reason that I find Ryans presentation style appealing is that it reminds me of Mr. Rogers in the way he calmly engages with his audience directly, through the camera. Sure!
damn, I think you hit the nail on the head. Every time a new vid drops, I think "do I really want to watch a 45 min vid?" Then I'm so grateful I did. His stuff is the bees knees!
We're glad to see you enjoyed working with your new LogOX, Ryan. Looks like you've definitely figured out some bonus uses for it that will come in handy over the years!
Your content is like a redpectful dialog. You make feel right at home in your world. You speak to us through the camera, and we respond with likes, comments, etc. If it ain't broke, don't fix it
Yo Ryan, I thank you so much for your work in presenting your projects to us in such a "conversational" manor. I would love to help you move items and so on. I will figure out a way to boost some lumber sideways from Texas. You are truly an amazing young man, and pray for you to be safe in your work, and full of the creative wisdom that you have to do truly neat things. You are a top shelf guy; huge respect and props from a retired guy in Texas who loves chainsaws and making things.
We are currently working on our own 13 acres in NW Georgia and while our journey is not as spartan as Ryan's, we do enjoy seeing what is possible using very basic infrastructure. You are an inspiration Ryan and wife and I are fans. Also love the once a week format and a great way to enjoy with our wake up coffee on Saturday morning.
I wonder if this is a scam in one video he was in town in a hotel room .also he's never built a out house ? If a ryon poops in the woods where does he go ??
Thank you, thank you and thank you again for brightening up my weekend. From the west of Ireland I watch, laugh and believe it or not LEARN from you. In a world of administration, rules, regulations and opinions on others you are the encouragement to continue to stretch or bend the limits of the rule book we had no hand in designing. Long live a Wild West and Ryan like it or not, from here you’re deemed and regarded as an inspiration. Good man!!
My pizza and coffee breakfast was rewarded with another great Saturday morning in the Thumb. Off to hunt pallets in a pallet jungle full of 6x6 and 2x12s today. Have a great weekend Ryan. I have a line on a caboose in Port Huron for you. 😂
Hi Ryan, the hammer you were asking about is a tack hammer used for upholstery. The slit end is magnetic which allows for one handed work. If one hand is holding the fabric in place the other hand can pickup a tack place the tack. Spin the hammer over a drive the tack home.😊
You are SUPER inspirational. I just happen to have a little piece of property with some appropriate pine trees and THIS is what I want to do. Thanks so much for being you and keep on keepin' on!
Sticky camera problem suggestion. Get some of that semi-sticky clear plastic that used car dealers put on the car floor carpeting. Stick it to your camera and cut out the hole for the aperture. You can peel it off of the camera body later. The glue holds but typical leaves no residue. Handy for a lot of other dirty jobs too. When I fell, limb and handle a lot of sticky white pine logs, my clothes get pretty covered in sap. When it’s time to take them to the laundromat to clean in the commercial washers, I do an overnight pre-soak with hot water and pine-sol. Wring ‘m out before you go the laundromat and they will wash completely clean in a hot water wash in those big tumblers. And it leaves no sticky in the washer either. Tips worth what you paid for it.
33:00 I'm just amazed Milwaukee, Makita, Dewalt, Bosch, etc doesn't hit you up with power tool sponsorship... Anyone that watches this channel knows that Ryobi is a big performer!
That's gonna be a dope ass kitchen when you get it done Ryan. Looks like it's gonna be pretty tall. Have you given any thought to what you might build to get up there? Keep up the good work, I wake up every Saturday and look forward to having my coffee while watching the vids you make.
Hey Ryan, next time you're notching for the stumps drill a 1" diameter hole in the corner. It will eliminate the weak point to crack. Just a thought. Peace out, enjoy the build.😊
Ryan I’ve been a subscriber for few years now. 57 in construction since young. Love RU-vid. Subscriber to probably too many channels. Just want to say You are my favorite channel hands down. Be safe, stay healthy, keep on truckin. Thank you
Drill into your foundation logs on a 45° angle with a big drill bit then fill them with used motor oil. Make yourself some hole plugs with appropriate sized sticks. It’s probably not something you want to show on camera but it will wolminize (however that’s spelled). It’s an old farmer trick they would do to extend the life of their fence posts if they didn’t use cedar.
Another great video! Thank you. You have such an interesting background and life experiences, ie kayaking down the Missouri River, living on a sailboat in San Diego, marathon running, etc. I would love to see a video talking about all the interesting things you’ve done. It’s fascinating! Like what you and Tito did about your extreme winter camping.
You are right. "Capsaicin is used to help relieve a certain type of pain known as neuralgia (shooting or burning pain in the nerves)" - Mayo Clinic. I remember seeing this treatment done many years ago. Apparently the affect can last as much as a month when using pure capsaicin but the people applying it have to wear full enviro - bunny suits.
I enjoy watching you figure out how you are going to do things, so dint even think about store bought lumber.I think all your viewers watch because you build from scratch😂
Glad you are okay. I was worried when you did not show up this morning. Yes, definitely protect your back, Don’t do anything that will hurt your back. If your ack starts to hurt, stop and take are of yourself,
Years back I was commuting between Grand Rapids and Chicago. One night I got off the train and saw one of those Pullman customized cars sitting next to the station waiting to get hooked up. I didn't know it worked the way you described.
Love these educational videos Love learning more about where and how our food gets to the table. Watch every video you do. Great job John and Cathy Niagara Falls Ontario Canada
Get a greenhouse window opener for the skylight no electricity needed. Owners of greenhouses have being using them for years!! It’s really your best option for off-grid.
Just a heads up you want to keep that lazer warm as extreme cold or hot will affect and sometimes damages the lazer, my bosch 3 plane green lazer has to go out for service because of a cold snap this season and being left in my truck. Also to free up frozen together boards, use a 3 or 4 pound sledge and hit the ends. Do that all the time in the winter to break up bunks of lumber from the lumberyard and we need it but its all frozen together
I like watching the Worm. You should get that dog you've been hinting about. I think you could use the company. Clean the sap off the tapes with some diesel.
RYAN got to have a screen on that Sky light in the roof !!! Got to think of the SKEETERS or SPIDERS !!! I am thinking about those !!! Don't want those guys in there with you !!! Plus if you can find a Bubble Dome for that Light window if you can !!! It will let the light in for you but will get rid of the Snow in the winter time for you !!!
Have you considered building it two stories for a view and balcony? If you build the walls about 12 feet high, it will give you a knee wall in the second story so you can put sofas and beds against the wall leaving the middle of the room open for walking. It could be a full second story or a half loft.
You talk about owning an Am-Trac (car?) At one time I thought of buying an old caboose, fixing it the way I wanted it to be, maybe like a cabin style, making it into a house. Then, laying tracks, and in each season of the year, pull it to a new position on the property. In that way, you'd always have a different view and different layout for whatever you wanted to do. Just a thought.
We have installed a skylight with solar power. It opens at the press of a button and closes automatically if it starts to rain. It also has a built-in shade that can be opened and closed. No need for power from the house circuit!
with all the sawdust you produce I think you can freeze ice in winter and store through most of summer / I believe that they used to cut ice out of the lakes in winter and pack in sawdust to preserve for summer use in the old style ice boxes people had back then
Ryan laughing hysterically while people compare him not once but twice in the same comment thread to Mr. Roger's! Ahahahaha while he's thinking if you seen or heard some of the stuff we said & did on our party weekends you'd know. I ain't no frickin Mr. Roger's! LoL. But eh it's OK if ya think so... lol😂 Love Ryan's personality. Hey Ryan invite a vetted viewer to come camp with ya for a weekend when you hit 100k. Or if not vetted to "your standard" offer to make them something from the property & send it to them. Since ya hate the subscribe & like crap. I think that could be a fun way to boost numbers without asking for people to subscribe. Anyway glad to see ya out of the cabin with your hands back on a chainsaw! as alway much L❤VE from KY!
Ryan, you mentioned the bubble foil which reminds me - did you use stainless steel staples when stapling it? If not you will need to do it all again as they will rust out in a couple years. Or they woud here in Scotland. If you need to re-staple them I would add another layer of foil at the same time, to cut your propane costs even more.
Amtrak train car sounds like fun. Midwest Railway Preservation Society or some place like that can help with a train car to refurbish. Consider the Ohio river for your pontoon boat adventure. Shorter but less developed and many cool places to explore in PA, WV, KY and Ohio.
Have you considered making a Passive Solar or Wood Fired Kiln for drying wood? It would kill the insects & crystallize all that sticky sap. Of course, I may have not gotten to the video that you addressed that yet.
Now that's going to be one ham & egger kitchen your building there. No really i think it'll be awesome and unique in your special way, and it's fun watching, so thanks. Are the interior floor joist's going to be as tall as the outer one's. Take Care Brother
You’ve probably said at some point but what model chainsaw do you use the most? Getting into chainsaw milling myself and I’ve read you don’t want less than 70cc.
