Thanks so much for choosing to do this. I always forget just how much I love his voice. And you do an amazing job of explaining what makes a crooner a crooner. And you could absolutely succeed in this style of singing. Thumbs, up to your choices Of songs this season and for taking time away from your family to share with us your talent.❤ Could you please explain what a vocal fry is in one of your next reactions. I hear reactors saying it all the time but you say things in a way that I can understand. That’s why you’re one of my favorite reactors and I listen to every song that you do.!! 😍

They don't make them like they used to. Frank Sinatra was such a smooth crooner. This is before auto tuning. Artists had to be really able to sing. And the lyrics were clean, romantic & really meant something. He has a huge library of great songs. Some of my favorites are "Fly Me To The Moon", "New York, New York", "Strangers In The Night", "I've Got You Under My Skin", "That's Life", "My Kind Of Town", "Summer Wind" etc. And he did a duet with his daughter Nancy called "Something Stupid" in 1967.

I love the crooning style, too. So beautiful!

No one did it better. As Bing Crosby perceptively said in 1972 on British TV "he creates a mood right away and the audience is with him and very few people can do that, that I know of."

Dan - thanks so much for doing this. I’ve been a fan of crooner and crooners for a long time. Your explanations helped me understand what actually goes into this. I’m now a fan of yours as well. Thanks again!

I can see you as the next big crooner. My favorite of Frank is My Kind Of Town (Chicago Is)

I have always loved this song and say yes to all the other artists you mention. Want to add Billie Holiday as well.

And Dean Martin too.

Kenny Rogers had a famously amazing vibrato throughout most of his life. But, towards the end, as he got up in age, it turned into a rather harsh tremolo.

You should watch his 1974 Madison Square Garden performance of this. His voice is not quite as pristine but his stage presence and vocal styling is refined with years of doing it.

Not a lot of long phrases because he is 55 here. You should listen to his “Nice and Easy” album or “Come Fly with Me” records and you hear long phrases. Listen to his “ol Man River” recording. He learned long phrases from trumpet band leader Tommy Dorsey
