What ever you think about Zappa, he was a great guitar player....I saw him in person and can vouch for this. He was funny as hell too. When he played, "Muffin Man," he had a machine shootin' out muffins! Found this about him, which should gain respect for him: Frank Zappa hired some of the best musicians in the world and worked them to the point of exhaustion. On more than one occasion, he abandoned a tour because the band simply didn't meet his high standards. Steve Vai regarded him as a role model. George Duke said that Zappa changed his life. Without fail, Zappa kept pace with that extraordinary supergroup. He took absurdly talented musicians and pushed them to their absolute limit, continually inspiring them to be better. The best was never good enough for him. Zappa was a great guitarist, but he was an even better band leader.

The general public nowadays, are thirsting for something different. They discover that there's so much great music out there that they've been missing out on, different music is a necessity. The utube platform where folks like you do reviews is an awesome catalyst for such a thing. The demand is there. You are one of the firsts. There's only a handful of youze'. Utube should realize this because it causes a lot of people to check things out they have missed out on due to ugly radio. I prefer to listen to music not on the radio. When you do this, a whole new world of music opens up to you. An endless world you can nicely get lost in forever. You've been hit with the Zappa bug. This is a good thing. Enjoy,....and get it on! You have no choice. You've been Zapped!

The Bobby Brown mentioned in the song is not the performer you know. This one is a fictional character. This song came out in 1978-78. "The" Bobby Brown you're thinking about was still in an R & B group at the time, and hadn't started his solo career yet. Zappa made this song as a form of social commentary. He said he liked to describe things that are really going on and show it to people. People would call him weird, when all he was doing was showing just how weird other people are. He was saying to his audience, "This is you, warts and all. Let's have some fun."

It’s easy to misinterpret this song. 'Bobby Brown Goes Down' makes fun of the stereotype of a white, heterosexual American male and his toxic masculinity. This kind of guy thinks he is afraid of losing his maleness because of the thriving women’s liberation movement of the time. He believes it’s acceptable to mistreat a woman, but not to grant her the rights she has been missing. Zappa addresses this subject in an exaggerated, over-the-top, ironic way. He is known for this kind of humor, and he intended to make people think about society's injustices.

:) Here in Norway my home country, This song is very popular. In fact it made Frank Zappa really speculate what in the hell is going, he actually sent or planned on sending People to investigate and try to find the reason. Of all the songs he made, Bobby B. became the biggest hit :) He tryed to find out or he did find out im not sure if he did :) I love the song, the lyrics has such double meaning hehe :) a band that i played drums in, did a cover on BB, and the singer he really went to the Extreme on one concert, and he probably made some men Wonder about their sexuality and he became very popular amont the ladies that evening :) That evening were something for the historybooks :)

Zappa was my era. He did every form of music except pop, which he held in disdain and I believe opera, although I wouldn'tbet on that one. He did you classical orchestral music. His symphonic piece Yellow Hippo received a standing ovation when it was performed. He was considered very much a freak because of his music. He had 4 kids, Dweezil, Moon Unit, Ahmet and Diva. He was against his own personal drug use. After testifying in front of the Senate about censoring music which was spearheaded by Tipper Gore, he pu out the album, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Prevention. He has been listed as a major influence by major composers of all styles of music. RIP Frank

Frank was a gentleman. A Norwegian impressario was asked what artist that did surprise him the most. He said Frank Zappa. The impressario thought he was going to pick up a punk at the airport but no. He said that Frank didn't ask for a raider. - What would you like, then, the impressario asked Frank. - If I could have a sightseeing that'd be enough, Frank replied.

There are 2 Frank Zappas: 1)song composer with "nasty" lyrics and 2) instrumentalist with unusual sound constructions. I lean more towards liking FZ #1. Favorite songs are: 1)"The Torture Never Stops", 2) "Penguins in Bondage", and 3)"Bobby Brown". Other fun bands: The B-52s, Dread Zeppelin (Cover band that does LZ songs in reggae style with Lead singer sounding like Elvis), The Flying Lizards, and Devo (I know you've done some of their stuff).

Here's the thing about Zappa. He is, believe it or not, the greatest and most prolific composer/producer/conductor in all of rock history. What he lacks (and I love him just the same) is an open soul. His music is always cynical, as if to say 'music has no real power or purpose... but I'm doing it anyway'. Still very worth a listen from the technical angle. He knew what he was doing and did it like no other.

It's a work of genius. I've been astonished by some of the reactions - people just don't get it. It's a satirical masterwork: he's mercilessly mocking the aggressively stupid, narcissistic and misogynistic 'college jock' who's protesting too much, as the saying goes, thus revealing he's gay - something he can't come to terms with. It's pretty obvious.

This song isn't about the famous Bobby Brown, it was a character Zappa created, and the song came out before the famous BB started his career.

Now react to " City of tiny lights". It really showcases the amazing musicianship of his band.

Nice to see a warning before the song. Note: Zappa’s LP “Jazz From Hell”.. the only INSTRUMENTAL album to receive a RIAA Parental_Advisory sticker. Please check out some more Zappa. There are 1000 songs to choose from.

The song they flagged for explicit lyrics was "G-Spot Tornado". An Instrumental.

Missed the last few seconds of the song!! To me that would explain any confusion you have about this song.

WTF Wednesday suggestions - The Pixies, Captain Beyond, Budgie (influencers of Metallica), Uriah Heep (best from Demons and Wizards or The Magician's Birthday). Keep on rocking'!

Hope you and your people are well. "Call any vegetable" would give you a taste of the Jazzy/Psych type sound his early band was producing. Peace.

Frank came up with this shit drug free, he was famously against all drugs, although he did refer to tobacco as his favorite vegetable, lol. Now go listen to Dinah Mo Hum or anything from the album Sheik Yerbouti, those are all pretty fucked up, too. Frank was the best.
