Free Honda XL200r Dirt Bike: Can we get it running after 15+ Years 

It's always a good feeling when you get something that is broken running again but even more so when it's yours...

you have grown so far since the first videos, you are one of my very favorites to watch , many continued blessings in Jesus name

Glad to see you wear a helmet - serious brain injury or not(& I'm not making light of this at all) thank you for wearing one. I appreciate learning about these dirt bikes...don't know if I'll ever own one, but if it's got an engine & wheels, I want to figure it out or learn from someone that's worked on them before. I love the Porsche project as much as anyone else, but I say THE MORE, THE MERRIER! Heck, I say keep a bike project going at all times WHILE you’ve got the car projects going simultaneously! Bravo! I have 14 bikes and really appreciate videos like this. Most of mine run, but some are restoration projects like this. I have a very similar bike to this; a 1980 XL125, that I’m hopeful about getting running, a SSSTRONG running XR200, and an XR80 that has an identical electrical problem to this, so this video probably got me over the hump. It's good to see old things fixed not just scraped . It took a little bit of time and money to get it going but it was more fun fixing and drive what once was broken but you can enjoy again .

its a beautiful old Honda that deserves to be restored. they don't built things like they used to and their is a huge collectors market for those old bikes.

It's good to hear a bike run after its been awhile

strip it down to frame and motor and spray it with rust reformer. use heat method to restore platics. adjust valves or whatever in top end. new cables, new grips. will look MINT! like these videos

I'm not even remotely into motorcycles but this was a good vid. Looks like maybe one or two more episodes worth of finishing things up? Maybe one mechanical, one cosmetic.

I have a 1983 Honda XL 250 that doesn’t have any back brakes. Watching this video, I can see that mine were put on wrong. Also mine is in way worse shape. (Head gasket leaks a decent amount of oil which burns when it’s ridden and smokes like hell when you stop, timing chain is super clacky, front wheel needs attention) you have a decent bike there. I hope to see it more

Because the bike has sat for so long, the clutch plates are gummed up with old oil, take clutch plates out, and clean them, always fix brakes, good video.

That thing runs good and I don't know many bikes that aren't wore out when they are finally passed on to us because they are so beat on with no maintenance 😂🤣 but free is a really good deal and she runs good I'll give you your money back on it and get it out of your way 😁👍🏻great video and you are a cool funny guy love the humor keep it coming

I would like to see it. I finished doing a 1980 Honda XL500S and am working on a 1980 Honda XL250S.

I have one of those up at my parents property, it was ruined by some a hole, and has been sitting in the garage since. It is repairable but we have to take the entire engine apart

So as far as Rusty fuel tanks and I know this from experience because I am doing a tank on an 82 Suzuki 650 you have to boil them out with some type of acid then rinse them and kill the acid basically baking soda will do that when some out real good and dry them and then there's a product called Red Kote. You can get it at O'Reilly's comes in a quart size container about 30 bucks but it goes a very long way I've done that to my tank it will even seal pin holes and it is permanent it will not come out it will not wash away with gas or any type of solvent once it's dry just a heads up for you so you will know in the future it's the best stuff that I've seen on the market and a lot of bike shops use it so that being said stay safe stay well and as always God bless

I'm glad it is working out. One thing, there is no way that wire out of the stator cover grounds at the cover bolt like that - if it were an old BSA maybe. It needs to run inside the sheath to someplace out of the way.

Cam chain tensioner or cam chain or valves and that motor will run sweet. Great little bikes.

My brother has one just like this but it was one that was raced a lot, but when we got it, it wasn't in good shape, but one day we worked on it and it ran for a good little while, but sadly I've never gotten to ride it, I also have a racing three wheeler, but it's in terrible shape.

it's a classic bike. My suggestion is to restore it completely. Even replacing a new dash panel. I did it with a XL 350 R. I used it only for a month after the restoration and somebody made me a offer. Them a sold it and start again with a Cb 400

bring it back all the way, at least to the point where it's solid, reliable and rideable. I'd like to see the lights and stuff back on it to make it streetable, I always thought it stupid to have to truck a bike to someplace to ride it. I don't care if I ever see the Porsche, they just don't impress me much.

Oh by the way the acid that I used some people say use white vinegar some people say use apple cider vinegar I've tried that before it didn't work very well so this time I went to the dollar store and got some toilet bowl cleaner and guess what it worked just fine
