Jess is by for the best in making tutorials, I have seen many others they don't come close to Jess's skills in teaching she is so explanatory. and shows you all the patterns pieces and what is required of them and than shows how to put them together which may seen trivial but in some patterns it can get confusing like in some BY Annie patterns, I love By Annie patterns too but they can be challenging. I have been sewing and making bags and many other types of Items for 50 + years so if you getting started in bag making she is the best person to watch. Thank you Jess love you
OMG I literally just cried over this bag!! I can not get it to save my life...about to watch your tutorial I'll write an updated comment after I'm done❤
I have been making bags, mostly By Annie, for several years and still learning. I have been introduced to so many different bag designers and businesses because of you. Your tutorials are the best I have seen. Love that you let us “sew” with you showing us how you use your tools. Your verbal instructions while putting the bag together, even your admissions of mistakes, are inspiring letting us know that mistakes happen and can be fixed or just accepted. You are AWESOME and I want to thank you for being you. ❤️
I just had to comment and brag that I got this baby yoda bag via the OklaRoots Elite Patreon group….and OMG… the video does NOT do it justice. This bag is so phenomenal and will be my new go to bag when I move down to Orlando next month. The construction is flawless and it’s SO structured I couldn’t even believe it. It would be hard to guess that this was handmade. You definitely do not need WPC for the lining if you are worried about it being structured. It seems perfectly structured without it. Love it!!
I am a beginner at sewing bags and I have just found your sight thank u for sharing your lovely free pattern I have enjoyed watching your video you are a very good teacher thank you again
Omg, I do too! My husband even asked me what I was smiling at once when I was watching 1 of her videos. He didn't "get it" but I'm glad other like minded people do haha
Love your videos. For getting the quilt cotton to lay flat around the zipper (or anywhere) when you iron it down use a clapper to cool it. It gives it memory.
😱 OMG!!! I was wounding why Jess haven’t make any free pattern anymore, and then you BOOM💥 again ! I have seen this cute bag but was not sure if I should give it a try. Definitely I will do it and fallow your tutorial for sure . It’s hard to believe you are not in my brain 😂 Thanks again 🥰
Thank you so much for these videos. You break things down so easily and I have had the courage to make bags I didn’t think I was capable of. When I see a pattern I love, I check to see if you have a video for it!
All your tutorials make me want to sew! Even things I’m not sure I can, lol. That said, I have tried and made things because your tutorials give me the confidence to try. You have a wonderful way, okay I’m gushing, of explaining, offering hints and tips that make so much sense coming from you but that just aren’t so clear when reading a pattern. I hope you continue and that I’ll have access to your videos for a long time. Pretty much a beginner but getting better thanks to you. Thanks for all your hard work. I for one REALLY appreciate it.
Greetings from Germany. My english is Not so good, but I hope you understand me. This ist a wonderful Bag and your Tutorial ist great. And Special Thnaks for der Hack withe the masking Tape. Have a great time
Fabulous bag! For spine health, I was told to carry a small bag, never more than 5% of my body weight when fully loaded, and this looks perfect for me.
Your tutorials are the best! You make them enjoyable by all levels of bag makers and always give such creative inspiration. The 70’s retro music made me smile every time. Thanks again!
This is great! Thanks for not only showing a free pattern, but as always, the awesome info about putting it all together and extra tips we might not get if we’re new!
I made it and love it. I was able to top stitch the gusset facing the seam inward and it lies much nicer and looks better and has more shape to it . The only thing I would change would be to make the lining a tiny bit smaller as it seems a bit loose and baggy inside. Thanks for your fabulous tutorial and all your videos.
You finally made this adorable bag. I was waiting for you to do it and was bummed yo hadn't done it yet, so had to find someone else, eventually I did and made it. I love it and use it everyday. I used faux suede type of fabric with quilt cotton for the lining. The strap is made of the faux suede as well. I think I did a pretty good job. It looks BOHO Chic! Let me know if you want me to shoot you a picture. I also want to let you know that you are my most favorite tutorial youtuber. You make everything so easy and simple to follow with clear instructions and suggestions. Keep up the good work and keep the bags coming!
Where was this a month ago when I made this bag?! What I learned doing it was I definitely should only be making bags when Jess is there to talk me through it 😩
I wish I had this video a few months back when I tried to make this with Decovil and Vinyl. New to bag making and my machine would not sew those side gusset areas. Complete failure!! Now I will try again. Thanks so much.
I did this one today....I literally took all morning... just finished..this patterned lined up...and on the D rings I made them slightly bigger to ensure they wont fall out... but on the front tab I didnt see where she noted that I should insert the Male part of the snap as I was closing the flap so when the purse finished I was stuck... I had to cut the point of the flap and square if out...I was depressed but the change turned out good and I'm in love with this little guy...
I've found it easier to put the lining inside of the outer when I'm sewing them together. You just have to reverse the insides and outsides. Just a thought. Thanks for the wonderful videos, I love watching you. You have taught me so much.
I do this. Seems to make sense that the larger outside should be outside when you are joining bag and lining. I just don’t know why it isn’t always done this way - I keep wondering if I’m missing something so I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only one who does it!
You are the best teacher. I’m in the middle of making this bag and I cut the gusset interfacing shirt beca I was afraid of the thick seems. You made a point of saying the interfacing should be the same size. Should I cut new fusable fleece interfacing? Before I sew it together?
Jess! Hey, I used to live in Jax! Now in NV... LOVE your videos! Have you ever thought about making a "tips and tricks" video about working with waterproof canvas???? I just bought some (cause you have me sold!) and would love to hear your thoughts about uses, cleaning, and just plain working with it. Thanks for the great videos, your enthusiasm is AMAZING!
I love the bagstock patterns and having this tutorial is great for us visual learners. Thank you Jess! I haven’t tried this pattern yet but I have made 3 of the Sunshine bags with the crossbody strap. I will be trying this one next.
I’m a day late in watching as I was working yesterday. Oooooh this is so pretty. I was about to go and get the pattern when I realised I actually had it. Bagstock patterns are absolutely amazing definitely some of my favourites. Thank you and Paula for the tutorial. Xxxxx
There a couple of us on here, wondering how you interfaced W.C. with the fleece, would it melt or something? Lovely tutorial, many thanks.. keep on doing BAGS! Love em!! 💘
Wow! Love your tutorials! You explain really well. I am a beginner in making bags and you've made the process very easy for me. Thank you so much! Could you also do a tutorial on the selene and ilaria from back stock designs.
Ooh cute pattern, how'd I miss that??!!🤔 Also, loved Paula's guest appearance, hi Paula👋 I hope she wasn't named after someone who just always "sticks" around...you know the one.🤣🤣🤣
I've watched 90% of your videos, they are inspirational. This is the first bag I've made that comes together perfectly. However, I have a question. After assembling the bag, can I turn it out through n slit in the lining rather than the interior pocket slit?
Hi Jess,I was wondering if you would do a tutorial on the Elegant all day handbag? By Sewn Ideas. It is such a lovely handbag…… I am going to do this pattern, it really is cute. Thank you for your videos. They are wonderful. Chris
Jess I just bought a Juki to make hand bags and I know im going to start using rivots also. I will need to buy one of those rivot presses and kit. I have no idea on how to decide which one to purchase. Will i need one with several die to use several size rivots or is one size good for most projects? I love your tutorials and all the awesome things you have made. I love how you cover all the little details in your videos. Thank you
Jess I love your tutorials, you are great! Question......I may have missed it if you stated it, but, can you use faux leather or a vinyl for the exterior front and back bottom pieces! I want to make this bag like.......NOW and that's all I have available. Thanks for your great teaching tutorials!!!!
Thank you so much, I'm so glad that you have made this tutorial. I find I can do things when I have someone show me how and I have the ability to watch section by section as I need it. I've had this pattern downloaded for a while now but hadn't printed it out as I couldn't a good tutorial for it - I've no excuses now! There is another Bagstock Design, the Marina Unisex Crossbody Bag, which I really like the look of but can't find any online tutorials for . . . that might be a gentle hint in the hope of a future video 😉
Jess, I love your tutorials! I have zero experience with waterproof canvas. Can you tell me how waterproof canvas is different from duck cloth? Is duck cloth a suitable alternative for bag making and strap making?
So duck cloth is a thicker cotton material, but it can still fray. Waterproof canvas has a plastic coating on the back of the material. So no fraying at all.
Hello this is Maria from Miami you made beautiful tutorial and I see your tutorial unboxing Tula pink machine 770 And I want to ask you what is the different between 770 and 570 is a lot or not please let me know , because I baying my machine , but a need to be sure have a good choice thanks MariaC
I'm new to this all but this bag is EXACTLY what i'm looking for however I need a small pouch in the back like the mini swoon bag? would it be easy to install that?
Have you ever used Odicoat on the quilt cotton?? I’ve heard so many people using it for bags when going to the parks to protect against the rain! I’d love to try it!
Can someone help me on printing the actual pattern pieces? I’m using my Iphone, and when I click on the pattern link in the description it takes me to the materials needed and instructions for sewing but I don’t see any actual pattern pieces.
