Fried squash is also great during the winter. Freezing squash for frying in the winter is easy. Learn that freezing squash breaded and ready to fry is a simple way to put up squash for the winter. . Our fried squash recipe is simple and included in our video. Freezing squash this way is fast and easy. Just put the squash straight in the frying pan while frozen and cook them.
Growing up in the south, we learned that squash was one of the first vegetables that get ripe for picking out of the garden. That meant fried squash and we loved it. Fast forward and now my kids love fried squash. However, we want fried squash during the winter. I learned that freezing squash ready to fry is the the way to go.
So get the iron skillet and the oil ready because it's time to fry squash even in the dead of winter.
If you liked the knife that at I used check these kind folks out: foxcreekbasket...

I've used this method many times. My advice is to add whatever seasonings you like to the dry ingredients. I use garlic powder and granulated onion in mine. It's very handy when it comes time to cook.

ONE time I did make it a little longer and the mildew got the plant. What is your secret weapon??????
@useful.knowledge
@useful.knowledge 6 лет назад
webbsway. Hi. Thanks! I plant the squash in hills early in the season just after the last frost which is late April for me. This helps with the bugs. I use diatomaceous earth (not poison) if I do find any bugs. Check out this video for how I grow squash ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ri3KqkLkYxY.html Best of luck! @webbsway
@webbsway 6 лет назад
Could you offer any advice for the squash bugs
@useful.knowledge
@useful.knowledge 6 лет назад
webbsway. I use diatomaceous earth through a duster or sometimes I just hand spread it onto the leaves of the squash. Also, check for bug eggs on the underside of the leaves. Insects hate to walk on the diatomaceous earth so I end up with some in the leaves and all over the ground.

Hi. Thanks! I think it would work. My only concern would be getting the paper and the squash to separate after it's frozen. I honestly would try it layered and see how it does. @@useful.knowledge After watching your video, I used parchment paper rather than oil and flour the cookie sheet. When quick-frozen, they popped right off the paper and no serious scrubbing of the cookie sheet. Just throw it away or use it again if you have more squash. UK, we tried this way back and wound up with rubber squash. Am I missing something? Your vid wound up on my page this morning and though 5 years ago to you it's only like a couple of minutes to me. Ha. We're going to attempt the waterbath pickled squash method with a few jars this time around for frying. The test is the winter product. I'd sure love to have some edible fryers later. Upvoted for your great work!!

@@useful.knowledge Absolutely. Same method you used. It's old tech. That's why we never did it again. It was so long ago...The only diff was mebbe we didn't do the icewater plunge trick. So, I think we'll have another go at it copying your vid precisely with a couple of bags. With what's going on today the freezer method is for the slow down whereas the jar method is for the go down. Backups for the backup. In a few minutes I'll be getting another load of garden tomaters ready to go into the dehydrator to try and get ahead. Starting to come down in double 5 gallon buckets for the big waterbath this weekend, looks like. Wow! Again, super thanks for sharing!
