I had a few big slabs of walnut (16-18in wide 3in thick and 10 1/2ft long). Wanted to see what i could turn one whole one into. This is what i came up with. Hope you enjoy :)
Table came out beautiful. Good call on music with no lyrics. I personally find music with lyrics distracts from the product. Excellent work on the table.
S Scott thank you. agreed. That's what I learned from my first video. The music needs to be present but unremarkable and not to memorable so that you don't loose focus of why your watching haha
I just came over from your PCT channel. As you mentioned there, more talking. But don't take the music out, maybe mix it up? You've got talent there and with videos. I look forward to more. Oh, also, your shop is nicer than my house! I little envy going on here.
Garry Collins thanks for coming to check out the channel. Yeah I was definitely no where near ready to talk to a camera when o set up this channel over a year ago. The backpacking channel definitely helped in that area. I have a lot of plans for this channel I just haven’t done them yet haha. My shop is only 100sf less than my house btw..... it’s kind ridiculous lol. But I built it myself so hey I built what I wanted haha
@@AhonuiOutdoors BTW I grew up watching my father make furniture. In fact I've got his table saw, probably made in the 40's. Still works great, had a new motor put in it in '59.
Beautiful work brother! Recently started doing some live edge stuff with the intention of making some content for RU-vid. I was wondering what that black fill you use to fill small gaps with is called?
I just saw this 6/2020. Stunning! I read that someone asked about the price. How many board feet do you think you went through? And what was the final amount? Thx
Milo Pajic for someone who has a name already for themselves they could easily get over $1500 for this table, for a large furniture store there is no telling. For someone like me, I’d be lucky to get 850. Sad truth of the furniture/woodworking game lol people don’t realize how much that amount of black walnut costs the maker or how much time goes into building something like this from a slab. Long story short this one made its home in my own living room lol
Yeah I was thinking that must of cost a lot in wood I did think that it’s stupid how much the price varies from maker to maker when the quality of that is really nice where do u get your walnut from
Milo Pajic it’s true. I believe the diy shows are the real killer. They make it seam like it only takes a circular saw, a cordless drill, 20 bucks worth of scrap wood and 3 hours to make this table lol so they have truly unrealistic expectations. I got crazy lucky and scored 202bf (mostly large slabs like the one in this video) from a guy who milled it himself from a single tree 8 years prior to me buying it and it air dried inside his shop that whole time. It was like a fairy tail lol
