Thanks to Shelley at @bigtreetech5117 for inspiring me to start making the "From The Bench" video series. She approached me a short while ago asking me if I would be interested in making some content featuring some of their products, which they would send me for free.
In this video, I'll cover the BTT Pi V1.2 as well as the U2C Module v1.0 add-on board.
BTT Pi V1.2: biqu.equipment...
U2C Module v1.0: biqu.equipment...
BTT Pi Github: github.com/big...
Sorry for the shakiness of this video. I think I need a gimbal to hold my phone up. If anyone wants to send me one, I'll feature it in a video, LOL.

you can use the infrared reciver to asign macros to a remote control (so that you could home the printer by pressing a button in the remote controler).
@oldguymeltsplastic
@oldguymeltsplastic 10 месяцев назад
I suppose that might be useful if the BTT Pi was external to the printer, but hidden away in the electronics bay of a Voron, the IR remote signal probably wouldn't be received properly.

That 'U2C Module v1.0' uses the lower USB port next to the ethernet on the BTT Pi. I ran into problems until I moved my MCU to another USB port.

Salve, sto cercando di imparare come funziona il modulo U2C, mi postresti dire esattamente i cavi H(rosso) e L(nero) dove vanno a finire, o più dove vanno collegati. Grazie.

It is a gerat board! But the saddest part is the lack of the DSI port. It only has the SPI port, for which the only viable option is the 3.5" screen, which is crappy TFT with resistive touchscreen. The DSI screens that BTT produce themselves are so much better! I don't understand, why it is the way it is.
@oldguymeltsplastic
@oldguymeltsplastic 10 месяцев назад
They also make an HDMI display which I am told is quite good.
@otann
@otann 10 месяцев назад
@@oldguymeltsplastic Indeed. Though I haven't checked myself, but the HDM port placement on the side doen't allow it to mound in front of the printer neatly. I saw a capacitive touchscreen by Mellow, which has an adapter that looks like it could be connected via HDMI from the back of the screen. Also, very nice video %) Very insteresting to follow your progress.

It's the SoC that they're using, that doesn't support the DSI. Likely a cost reduction factor, but still annoying nonetheless.

BTT update image for CB1 and add I2C overlay. Pins for that PI5/PI6.

It would be nice if the next version of the BTT PI supported the raspberry pi cameras.

It indeed does, It has a CSI interface.

Hello, how do you set up the canbus? What is in the printer.cfg? Have you recompiled klipper? Good video BTW.
@oldguymeltsplastic
@oldguymeltsplastic 9 месяцев назад
The U2C module in this video works just like the larger "regular" U2C. CAN Bus setup and Klipper printer.cfg are also the same.

Do you have a video showing how to install the u2c board on the BTT Pi?
@oldguymeltsplastic
@oldguymeltsplastic 4 месяца назад
If you mean the mini U2C that only fits on the BTT Pi, it just slides onto the connectors for it. Easy-peasy!

galieo2 extruder for stealthburner!!! yea!!!

@oldguymeltsplastic 10 месяцев назад
This particular Stealthburner still has the CW2 extruder, but as it's just a display toolhead for my testbench, that's completely fine.

Thank you for your video, because I learned how to install klipper on the mountain bike pi but I couldn't flash it on the octopus pro, now is it possible to clear the memory to flash it again? led status btt octopus doesn't blink

You can use can directly from octopus with canboot.
@oldguymeltsplastic
@oldguymeltsplastic 10 месяцев назад
Absolutely, and I did for several months before getting repeated Timer Too Close errors. After several weeks of inconclusive troubleshooting, the only solution that worked was reconfiguring with a U2C.

I've only ever heard of people having issues with the built in can port on the octopus.

@@oldguymeltsplasticsame. The only way I don't get the timer too close error using the octopus as u2c is to drop micro stepping down to 16.
@oldguymeltsplastic
@oldguymeltsplastic 8 месяцев назад
@@patheticpuma that might depend on what you are using for your host computer. Older/weaker Pi devices can struggle if the microsteps are set higher than 16.
