check your ice maker first. If it's making ice it's NOT the filter, but a frozen line... saves even more time to pinpoint the problem. loved the video.
THANK YOU! We just moved into a new rental and when I pulled the filter out I thought it was supposed to be solid like it was, your video was spot on. I let it unthaw and WE HAVE WATER! This was never suggested to be a problem in any other videos or guides online. Thank you so much !
Thank Kay for me. We had the same problem with our water line today and worked on it over an hour before watching your video. Never thought of the water filter but sure enough that was froze up!!thank you Kay!
You are my hero! After watching all of your video, and coming to the part about the water filter I checked mine and sure enough it had frozen. Probably because I had earlier done a thorough cleaning of my frig side and had the door open for too long. I used a by pass valve and sure enough the water came out of the dispenser just fine. I put my filter in the sink to thaw out and will reinstall later. Saved me an expensive tech visit!
Took your advice and used the wacker line from the bottom of the refrigerator water connection to the top of the dispenser nozzle and vice versa, and worked. Wasn't frozen, thinking build up from consent use. Keep up the great advice.
Thanks for creating this. This video helped me tremendously,. I was about to call an appliance repair guy. You saved me a $200 repair bill. This solution was so simple.
Wow..just wow....I can't believe how easily you solved my problem without any unnecessary time to do it. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Much appreciated.
Great video thank you for sharing. However just to add my experience here so that others don’t have to go through what I did. When my dispenser stopped working I researched online to see what it could be and everyone seemed to say it was the water inlet valve at the rear or a frozen pipe in the door (not likely in the newer fridges) going to the dispenser. After waiting 2 weeks for the inlet valve and after fitting it, it still didn’t work. I tried everything until I removed and emptied the water reservoir behind the salad crisper. When I reattached it I found the reservoir didn’t refill at all. So I checked that good pressure and water was going to the water inlet valve and it was fine. So I removed the clear/white pipe from the inlet valve at the rear that goes to the reservoir/tank and blew in to it but seemed like it was blocked. I then removed it from the reservoir/tank and pulled it out completely and blew into it. Nothing. It’s a 2 foot pipe and the air wouldn’t go through so I waited a few minutes as I thought it was frozen then suddenly it cleared. Voila! There you have it. Reattached everything, the pipe goes back in from inside the fridge easily, and the tank filled up and water and ice is now perfect. Just that 2 foot pipe! 😂
Thank you very much for your great suggestion. Your wife's idea worked! I had no idea what to do and this saved me a lot of time, money, and aggravation!
You just saved me a ton of time, frustration, and money. The 20 videos before this one had me convinced I needed an appliance technician or a new fridge. They were also very boring to watch!!! Thank you so much.
Thank you, Kay and Tom. In my case, the filter froze (let it thaw) and I used some trimmer line to dislodge the residual ice in the water line. I appreciate you both.
This works! My filter had definitely frozen up. I also improvised my own freezer buddy device and shot some hot water up the water spout on the door. Voila! You saved me a big appliance repair bill sir! Thank you! And thank you for listening to your wife!
Tha k you for the tip. In addition, it's wonderful that you were man enough to post a video that taught the lesson that you should have listened to your wife's input. My husband is the same way.
You are awesome! My coffee creamer was frozen this morning. Right when you got to your wife’s suggestion I knew this was the issue. Sure enough removed the water filter & it was frozen solid! Thanks.
Thanks for the video, while watching I thought about the two-liter coke and orange juice that I noticed had Ice in them last week on the top shelf next to the filter. I already had a new filter, so I swapped it out and the water was restored to the door. I think my problem was caused when my wife decided to completely fill the fridge with water and Gatorade restricting the airflow. Thanks again for the video, changing the filter would have been my first option but hearing your story made me stop researching and move forward with the replacement filter instantly,
It worked for my LG to door refrigerator when I took out the water filter. It was frozen at the tip and seem frozen inside to. I did use a hair dryer medium heat on my water filter was really cold and also a little bit on the inside of the refrigerator where the filter goes Once I put it back in the water started coming out a little by little and then back to normal. Thanks for your video.
Aside from the obvious chuckle I got out of your video (yes, listen to your wife), you also just saved me a ton of time. I have the same fridge and just discovered the same problem about 30 minutes ago. I started looking on RU-vid for an answer. Lots of complicated things about checking electrical switches and components. Also saw stuff on a frozen water line. Wasn't sure where to start. I then watched your video. I just now took the water filter out with high hopes. I moved it around over the sink though and it was NOT frozen. Water was dripping out and I could hear it sloshing around. I'm thinking, "crap!" I reinstalled it and checked the water dispenser again for sh#ts and giggles. Some resistance but I felt a small piece of ice or two come out......then water! I grabbed a cup and did it again, and sure as sh#t it was dispensing water again at full speed. Thank you!!!
God bless our women. They keep us together…mine is a red head Irish hot head that sometimes drinks too much but has the body of a Southern. pacific Train…SHES 60 now… My friends all love her
I just bought a home. Someone crushed the waterline for the fridge. I repaired the line but no water. No knowledge anything could be wrong with the filter i just replaced. This video helped! My water dispenser works!
First thing I did was disengage the water connection below the freezer door, then engaged the water. Water shot out from the hose into a towel. That Tells you that the problem is beyond the Filter. In this case the freezer door is where the line runs and is probably frozen. I like the weed eater string idea to see how far up the freeze is on the line. Fridge companies need to do a better job insulating the lines in the side x side units. Thanks for the weed eater line... going to grab my line right now as mine is froze...
Thank you - just had a similar problem with my Frigidaire, filter in fridge was frozen - only odd thing (to me at least) was that a new filter didn't work, water wasn't running thru it - it wasn't until I thawed the old filter, put it in the fridge and held the water lever with a cup under it for a minute or two that water started running again - once the water was running, I then changed to the new filter and it belched for a second or two, then ran fine...
I pulled out the filter and sure enough, the water in it had frozen, used a hair dryer on low, melted the ice in the filter, shook it until all the water came out put it back in and low and behold the water dispenser worked. It was 4:00 a.m. in the morning, when this happened. Thank you so much. I will tell all my friends about your site.
Thank God I'm cheap and lazy. I ran to RU-vid for answers before touching my fridge or calling a plumber. Had to replace the filter, it was frozen and busted from the pressure. Wish I noticed and found you before the filter burst but still all good. 👍🏽
I night the line buddy and tried it and it didn’t work. I watched your video and sure enough the water filter is frozen. I’ll come back and try this out and see what it does, I think this will fix it.
I was laughing my butt off! Thanks! Last night I was trying to fix fridge water and I would say honey, come here. Then said nevermind. This happened 3 times. Then I yelled his name again and he said, "What!!!?..." "I am trying to watch this football game!" He never talks at me like that but he was frustrated at me. So funny...!
This same thing happened to us when we got home from vacation. I just turned my freezer to the lowest setting for 1 hour. Then it started dispensing water again.
Mine freezes in that little line sticking down where you fill the cup. A hair drier alone , no can , waving back and forth for three to five minutes thaws mine right out. You’ll see the hair drier air blow a drop of water and it’s time to test. If not qiute ready continue with hair drier. Mine only does this in the winter months for some strange reason.
Where do I send you the $150 you saved me for a dang Appliance Repair Service Call? I watched your video, we have a different brand but I got up found my stool and easier my old ass down in front of my refrigerator while my wife was picking out a number to call the repairman. I simply removed the filter, got my wife to hand me a cup and put it under the water dispenser and the water worked. The meter on the door indicates the filter still has 2 bars of use. Damn a $50 filter that doesn’t last. Got to die from something. No more filters for me. If the water looks brown I’ll just boil it. Someone is always trying to get ya money. ✅ thanks for the great video.
Thanks so much. All of a sudden the water on fridge wouldn’t work. I tried putting in a new filter and Bingo I have water again. By the way the light for filter was showing Green.
I said no way the filter was frozen. But I'll be damned if that wasn't it. I don't get it because the settings were never changed since the unit was installed over a year ago. I have the exact same frig. Otherwise it's been fine. You saved me a $200 service call. Thanks!!!
