A series of 3 short videos showing my best settings on FSX where I do NOT have a super water cooled system and get 35 to 110 FPS consistently.
I just want to help other people get the best out of FSX and I am not claiming these settings will help everyone!
I am also not claiming to be an expert on this. Just trying to help :)
My System Specs:
Intel Q6600 2.4ghz
GeForce 8600 GT WITH LATEST DRIVERS
3gig RAM
Vista 32bit Ultimate
FSX Add Ons:
TrafficX
FSPassengers
FSRecorder
REX Weather
If you have any questions please feel free to ask and I will do my best to help!
Thanks for watching!

Thanks a lot man,great videos,i have chopped and changed for so long and never found the right settings, i wasn't aware i could drop level of detail radius and mesh complexity and it still looks alright, after putting scenery complexity to normal i can now see blue taxiway lights and taxiway signs ,which really help on line when the controllers like taxi to runway 32 via A B W D1 E hold A1, i could never see these so unless i knew the airport i was screwed, thanks man

thermal visualisation are the circles that indicate rising air when flying a glider, try the glider missions of fsx to see what I mean Great Video man, really helped me, now getting about 40-90fps instead of 10-25fps!

@coldandfrostymorning this was a year ago and i did build my system :) thanks to you i actually came back now when i had to restore it so i didnt have fsx installed... now even though i got a better card... still i go by this vid :)

Setting thermal visualization to schematic means that you will see spirals in the sky to indicate where a thermal is. Setting thermal visualization to natural means that you will see birds gliding in circles to indicate where a thermal is naturaly.

Thermal visualisation shows rising warmer air(thermals). Schematic displays thermals as they appear in gliding tutorials, natural has birds flying inside them, but they're so tiny that you can't really see them.

thermal visualization is when you look behind a hot engine or the road on a hot day the air looks blurry like you can actually see the heat rising thats what that is.

The "Thermal Visualisation" settings explained- NONE- they're invisible but they're still there, you'll know by the turbulence when you run into one. NATURAL- means you'll sometimes see birds circling in them. SCHEMATIC- means you'll see thermals on screen looking like giant coiled springs. I posted an illustrated article about them at Flightsim.com (I'm ScatterbrainKid over there)

Hey Frosty, I keep my Frames on "Unlimited" like you, but I can't understand why on earth anybody would want to set them lower?
@jacktw1st
@jacktw1st 10 дней назад
If you set a Unlimited Fps, you could get the worst results, it comsuming more power. As I do, I prefer set it 30 or 60
@tungstenkid2271

@@jacktw1st Thanks, but my PC is fairly high end and it runs FSX just fine on the 'Unlimited FPS' setting, so I can't see any reason to change it..:)

Is this a good FSX computer? at least all high graphics? Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 quad-core processor with Turbo-Boost [up to 3.8GHz, 8MB cache] 8GB DDR3-1333MHz SDRAM [2 DIMMs] 1.5TB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive from 750GB 3GB DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 440 [DVI, HDMI, VGA] 300W Power supply Beats Audio (tm) -- integrated studio quality sound

No point getting 110fps if your monitor will only display 60Hz or 75Hz. It's just wasted quality potential. And by the way, if I were you, I'd buy a nice big heatsink and get that Q6600 to at least 3.5GHz. BTW the human eye does notice a difference, however civilian flight simulations get away with sub 45 fps because there's little or no sudden movement. As long as the motion is nice and smooth and can be anticipated correctly by the mind - it runs fine.
