Here's another unboxing video, this time the brand new Fujifilm X70. I was only given this unopened 'Editor Sample' if I did one thing. Find out what I was suppose to do...but failed to do it! *sorry for the bad audio. I put my lav mic too low on my vest which I ended up rubbing up against it and created a lot of unwanted pops and crackles.
**To shoot this video I used my iPhone 6s inside the bitplay Snap! Pro case and the wide lens on a Manfrotto tripod. I used the Gora smartphone lav mic plugged directly into my iPhone for audio.

I've owned about 10 Fuji cameras. The X70 is an absolute gem. So small, so cute but it's a real proper camera. A new X70 with 24mp sensor would be a dream camera.

you talked me into an x30. with. the zoom lens, I still love it. Now made me go to murray camera and buy the x70. lol. I almost bought the Ricoh Gr 2. but no articulated screen. I also love fujis manual focus switch on the front. thanks for great video again.

Great video. Quick question. Specs don't list it as having a mic input, but the product view image does. Does the 2.5mm remote input accept a mic too?

Not yet. It's JPEG only since it does some type of up-scaling of resolution. I'm sure the 35mm won't be too noticeable but the 50mm will. I'll test it for my full review.

Oh wow, this was shot on an iPhone?! That's pretty impressive! Anyway, I look forward to hearing some longer-term impressions of the X70 compared to the GR. I love love loved my GR, but broke it trying to clean dust out the sensor. If the X70 is better at keeping stuff out, it might be what I'm looking for.

so long as you have the oem batteries, you can just line up the orange stripe to the orange battery lock. it can get pretty annoying if you switch it out without looking

Yes only GS X-T1 comes with genuine leather strap (sounds like X-Pro2 comes with same one). That said the strap that came with my X-Pro1 and X-T1 (black) is nicer than the X100S strap, which is the same one you had there. So Fuji has a cheap strap (white printed Fujifilm) a fancy strap (embossed Fujifilm), and high end leather strap.

Hi, the orange stripe at the batterie needs to be at the same side as the orange batterie release button ;-) is that simple. so Fuji has already figured out a way to put in the batterie.

+EL LE thanks, yes I know about the orange strip, but most 3rd party batteries don't give you the indicator mark. As well, while changing batteries in low light or even while on the move, it's nice to be able to swap in and out by feel and not have to look down. I just thought in unusual to have a battery with one rounded corner that could easily take advantage of a one-way-only fit into the battery chamber. This isn't a huge deal but I've known people to put it in backwards and wonder what's happening. Thanks again for your comment

If you put the orange strip on the battery adjacent to the orange battery retaining clip on the camera then it is aligned correctly.......I think that is why they do it like that!!

You mentioned the x-a2, a very underrated camera, as good as any other fuji x in my opinion, i do love my x-a2 but looking to upgrade to the x-pro2 very soon, and i do prefer interchangeable lenses, the x70 is stunning but the fixed lens is a no no for my style of work, gorgeous camera though!

I think Fuji put an orange stripe on the battery to match it to the side where the orange clip is that holds the battery in place. Just my observation but yeah it's annoying that you can put the battery in a different orientation.

Hi, great video. As a GR II owner I'm anxious to find out how this performs vs the Ricoh? I have my X70 on UK pre order. Not released here for another 10 days. I'm like a child waiting for Christmas Day. Are you enjoying the X70?

+Rob O'Hare saving my final conclusion for upcoming video but so far so good. GR feels way better in the hand though, but the articulating screen is great on X70.

+bigheadtaco cheers. Think I'll keep my GR as well but x70 flip screen will be very useful for family days out. Screen is the main reason I'm buying the x70 along with its looks. GR for everything else. Thanks for your reply and looking forward to your comparison review

+bigheadtaco still looking forward to your full review but had my x70 for 9 days now and I just love it. You are correct in saying that the handling of the GR is better but feature and performance wise the Fuji nails it. Auto focus, colour reproduction and even the manual feature takes on snap. Iq a bit soft straight from the box but as soon as I got my settings into place then wow. Articulated screen just superb. Touch control works very well. Just love it as you can probably tell. It's my new every day camera

I think the best feature is touch to focus and shoot, not sure why you didn't mention about it or probably I didn't hear it. But that's what attracts me the most about x70.

personally I'm not that concerned where it's made as long as it gets the job done. I too usually think unboxing vids are a waste of time but agree this one was good. I'm really curious to see how good the 35 & 50mm digital zoom works. I realize that digital zoom is a bad word among serious photogs but if the nailed the up scaling algorithm this camera would bw even cooler.

The Ricoh GR II seems like it only got better battery life and wifi. So you still like it better than the Fuji X70? Why didn't Ricoh add a tilting or articulating touch screen?

GR has been around since 1997 as a film camera and has a cult-like following. Let's see what the GR III is gonna be like. Who knows, it may get a tilt screen.

For the battery, easy to understand that the orange line on the battery has to be insert next to the orange button.

The caps look different even though you showed the opening is the same. It's like the X70 doesn't have the same ridge as the X100 cap.

The Ricoh is still the one of go for I think. So pocketable. Fuji just don't seem to have surpassed its capabilities, on paper at least.

For street and everyday shooting, I love the look of the 28mm. If I was forced to only shoot a single focal length the 35mm would be the ideal

+Earl D I can't seem to turn it off, although with the upcoming optical viewfinder, they should give you the option. Easily added in firmware.

Sandi Zhang The best price for performance and size within the Fujifilm X series cameras is the X30. Good zoom lens, decent sensor, great features.

well, the intro and outro you hear in this video is actually me playing my guitar. I've used it for the past year or so. If you heard it before, it's probably because it's one of my videos. However, as a RU-vid creator, we do have access to royalty free music we can use for our videos.

+KaWai Hui If you want an articulating touch screen, get the X70. If you want a viewfinder, the X100T. That's about the only major difference.

KaWai Hui yes the X70 is a great carry around camera for couples and families as well as enthusiasts. I did a great selfie with the wife recently and it was refreshing being able to frame the shot without having to retake.

The X70 does not have an optical zoom lens, it's a fixed lens. However, it does have a digital crop zoom, which is very different, similar to most smart phone zooms.

Martin Preinesberger the standard focal length is at a 28mm equivalent. The two zoom settings allow for a 35mm and 50mm equivalent. Since it's a digital zoom, the camera basically crops the image, then through a digital process it rescales it up so it attempts to regain the lost pixels. It's always better to optically zoom and not digital. I don't think many use this feature since you can just crop your image in post in LR or PS later.

X100T & X70 lens are different dude... that's the major differentiator in price IMO Otherwise well done, enjoy your videos!!

+Alan Chun thanks for watching. You have to remember that there are many factors in pricing. The fact the X70 is made in China versus Japan, the lack of the highly technical hybrid viewfinder, and also the feature set that puts the X70 below the X100 series within it's line-up. The lens design of the X70 is actually very complicated with 2 aspherical elements in a 7/5 lens group design (same as GR). It's very sharp and even from edge to edge (unlike the X100 lens). Sam Raymi it's jacket pocketable, not pants pocketable due to the non-collapsible lens with additional lens cap and the rear articulating screen. It's slightly too big to be comfortable. If you want to be sure, you should probably go to a camera shop and check it out in person, or buy from B&H or Amazon. Both have reasonable return policies.

Sam Raymi if you want a viewfinder, the X100T. If you want an articulating touch screen, the X70. That's basically the only major difference. Also the X100T needs a new firmware update to match the latest firmware, which the X70 currently has.

Meh... This one is funnier with the sound off. You've got a whole repertoire of gestures and expressions I never noticed. Waiting for the 'real review' even though it's going to be a bit late for me. My black X70 is showing up tomorrow:)

Why does everybody joke about made in China, its madness, they now lead the world in materials and manufacturing technology. Why do all the manufacturers use China for their lower end stuff; because China is the only place with the advanced materials and technology to produce the products at this competitive price point. People want cut throat prices but they wont buy junk. In my opinion, the best two zooms Nikon make are the 18-55mm and the 55-200mm kit lenses, both made in China. They are cheap, lightweight, compact, bitingly sharp and contrasty and take great pictures for fun photography. What you don't agree with me then take it up with Ken Rockwell, he has tested all the lenses. Nikons other zooms are junk as far as I am concerned, big heavy, slow, designed like Russian tractor parts. If you are serious about photography buy primes, Nikon makes great ones. You dont think so? Well why do you think the major growth area in fixed lens high end cameras like the X70 reviewed here all have primes? Do you think people like making cameras nobody will buy? The only zooms worth considering are the wide ones because that is where primes fail on a DSLR. If you are not using primes you are compromising your art. What do you mean life is a compromise; go tell that to Ansel Adams :-)
