Interesting. If I am hearing and interpreting correctly, it appears Elaine is a bit like myself in that she performs best when she is a little discouraged. In other words, when I’m discouraged, I say to myself I MUST do it right and I become extremely technical and ensure my execution, itself is FLAWLESS. I think this is what she’s doing, and it makes sense to me…great insight into her perspective.
I would disagree. Having a positive mindset is what elevates your persistence, motivation, and determination of being successful. Once negative thoughts take hold, you are consciously and/or unconsciously holding yourself back of achievement. This relates in everyday life...not only sports.
@@michellebuckland3436 I understand what you’re saying but I don’t think you realize what I’m saying is not negative. I do agree the attitude must be positive to achieve positive results…we agree there for sure. I’m saying, when I am critical of myself (not negative), it makes me focus much more on doing things properly. I think that’s what she is doing. I don’t ever see Elaine look negative…she just said she physically feels bad. I can relate, because I always step up to the plate when time to perform, no matter how I feel, and I think she is motivated by not feeling well.
