It should also be mentioned, those players, and most of Frances team are from Africa. Where would they be if they wouldn't of colonized half of Africa?
@@antoniodg2673these players are French citizens doesn’t matter they are from African origins. Past is done can’t be changed fact is France has a world class team
Griezmann is the Philip Seymour Hoffmann of this France team. He rarely the lead protagonist but everything he gets involved in is excellent. I love Antoine Griezmann.
@@isaiahh4108 True his playstyle changed a lot because of Barca.. sad. now he rarely score goals even in Atleitco... he is mostly a playermaker now like Modric.
Imagine that the French team is playing this World Cup without some of the best players in the world. Top 10 for at least three of them including the Ballon d'Or. And it's still making the semi-finals. It's insane if you think about it.
England were too busy stopping Mbappe and they did that well, but allowed alot of room for Griezmann to operate in the midfield . It's hard to stop this french team, Southgate plan wasn't bad but they just have better quality players and to think players like Kante, Pogba, Benzema are out is scary.
Antoine Griezmann now has 27 assists for France, the most for any player for the national team over the last 50 years (Thierry Henry and Zinedine Zidane 26). Wonderful cute little de mon 😍. Him and Tchouaméni played so well and controlled on yellow cards
Harry won't get the blame because he is England's golden boy and a media darling. Remember what happen to Saka and Rashford when they missed penalties last time?
England have 16 shots on goal and put zero in , France 8 shots and pop 2 in the back of the net so I'm trying to work out how England played the better football ? Its goals that count in the end. Exuses after exuses from English sulking ffs
@@musamuhammad370 as a Chelsea and England fan I don’t even know anymore. I think we are cursed but again you make your own luck. I feel like we deserved better but whoever wins wins
He wanted that place at Barca.. but Messi was playing in that position.. he should've never went to Barca.. destroyed his last 3 years.. he should move from Atletico as well.
@@Ken_Marinaris you are absolutely right, Griezmann is the only player that has no real replacement, everyone one else does you can argue if it's the same level of replacement sure, but he doesn't have one at all
England dominated the game only because they were playing a French team containing a lead. Each time the game was level, France went at them. Smart performance.
@@Genevasplaytime Yeah Theo made a mistake and since when is a wonder strike not on the menu? Their tactics worked and they eliminated England. It don't get better than that.
@@iansmith8731 Yes. It always felt that way. Whenever they aimed to get a goal, they managed to, so it always felt like they didn't mind gearing down because they were ahead most of the match.
Well, their depth was on the field. Deschamps is not counting on his bench lol. This is the very limit of what he can do. Only 1 replacement by Deschamps.
I keep seeing this, "benzema, pogba, kante" non-sense. Those are great players for sure, but their replacements have all done equal or more than those 3. Giroud-- scored. Tchouaméni- scored. Rabiot- has played great every game. The only difference might be Benzema-- his ability off the ball and on the ball for build up play is levels above Giroud.
@@danzel1157 you blind mate it was the ref's fault for sure. If he had given Kane a red card then someone else could have taken and scored the penalty. So I blame the ref for letting Kane take the penalty. We lost because of ref.
You don't have to be the "better" team to win at this level - you have to be the smarter team. France was the smarter team (even without their big hitters like Benzema, Kante, Pogba ...).
This needs to be said, Rabiot is way overhated for no reason. He's replaced Kante extremely well and the combination between him and Griezou is fantastic always. VIVE LA FRANCE!!!!
True that. I mean even in the match the commentators were saying how other players would've been better than Rabiot, but he's actually done so good. Also, not just now but always, Rabiot has been a really good, if not a great player throughout his career so far. So idk why such doubts.
No clue why Saint Allan maximin was not called up . He destroyed Kyle walker in the new castle vs Mancity game. Compared to England stars French bench is trash
Today? For me best player in this WC by far! A cold killer, a sniper…. The is vision is fantastic! A genius and yet underrated (but I don’t mind) I like the fact he is underrated! That gives him strength
Deschamp’s French team clearly has the better mentality and considering that Pogba, Kante and Benzema are not playing is pretty scary. English pundits need to stop glorifying this England team apart from controlling the possession they’re pretty average except for Saka.
Only big difference is Griezmann can't score as much as Messi nor his IQ is as high as Messi (not far away though) but Griezmann works way harder defensively and actually tries to not let opponents gets passing lanes that could lead to goals. When Messi don't have the ball, he literally walks as if he's looking at items around the mall.
More of the ball, 2x more shots, more shots on target, more xG, more touches, more passes, more key passes, more tackles, more corners, hit the woodwork. What does a team have to do to make you say they dominated? win 8-0?
@@Lauren___ having more of the ball doesn’t mean you dominated lol. How many clear cut chances did you create? XG is misleading. They had 2 penalties which inflates it. England didn’t do much with the ball. If saka wasn’t involved England looked uninventive.
France without Benz, Kante, Nkunku, and still the better team💪😂 Ppl keep saying England was better yet they needed two penalties to even stay close to being in the game, no real chance from open play meanwhile France and Giroud were peppering the England goal. As usual, England overhyped and overrated and their fans will come up with any excuse as to why they're going home yet again. Never looking at themselves as the problem, unless they wanna racially abuse Saka and Rashford, then suddenly they have no issue🤦♂️🤡 only thing coming home is Kanes penalty when it falls out of orbit 🗑
@@tracer073 Dumb logic. Penalties are a part of the game. France's first goal shouldn't have counted, and the second one was a deflection. How is that any better? 😂
France had 3 shots on target and a deflected winner. England 57% possession twice as many shots. If you think France were the better team go get a brain scan.
France did not play well in the second half. France would normally beat a team like England 5 nil. But they only played well in patches and almost gifted England the match and semi final spot when a silly penalty was given. I enjoy watching France but they were poor in the 2nd half and truth be told lucky to win the match. A match they normally would have won 5-0
More because that's the only way England knows for getting past the 1/4 final, just like the 2 penalties they were grossly granted vs Cameroon in the 1990 WC.
even when mbappe was not on his prime game...got 2 penalties still can't beat France...why?...Because England players were not seeking for a goal...they all were looking for penalties in this game.
Absolutely, same thing as the Euro 2020 final. After 40 minutes England gave up trying to score and Sterling was just throwing his body in the penalty area seeking an easy penalty.
Not sure if you're a troll but england had twice as many shots and 3 more shots on target. How is that not trying to score? None of the penalties were dives, just incredibly poor defensive errors.
Griezman seems to have eyes which can see 360 degrees and the ability to accurately measure the force / angle/height with which the ball has to be delivered/ tò pass. An unassuming but wonderful playmaker. France is fortunate to have players like him and Mbappe(the Miissile).
@@paulyyy29 I don’t know what game you was watching then. because Upamancano made like 5 blatant fouls by wiping out the player and Theo Hernandez should have had a red, the first goal happened due to another blatant foul on saka which wasn’t given. So maybe rewatch the game and if you still think the ref got everything correct then go watch golf.
I'm Scottish and wanted France to win but I was disappointed in France they were incredibly dirty they basically kicked England all over the park and I felt sorry for Saka in the end every time he was on the ball they were not even trying to get the ball from him just hacking away at him.
Griezmann the conductor was outstanding against one of the favourites to win the whole competition. He's virtually everywhere impacting the game in a million ways for France. 2 assists against England wow. Giroud and Griezmann was way too much for England to handle. Too much focus was on Mbappe and Dembele.
Mbappe might be the best player, but France's game is built on Griezmann, the number 10. It was always like that from the times of Platini, to Zidane and present. If you give too much freedom to the number 10 French are always dangerous.
In my opinion, it is impossible to prevent Griezmann from playing. He is free to go where he wants, he does what he wants in the team, so we can't see where he will go...

They’re a hybrid for sure. Not an all out sit back and counter, and not an all out possession team...it’s the way to do it if you want spaces and scoring opportunities.
I am loving this English tears. Very Yummy. haha Even after the loss they still hyping their team. Problem with England is not the players or managers, it's their media always overhype the team and infuence their players. Until they stop singing its coming home like they won the world cup 7 times and be more humble and respectful about their opponents, they will never win anything.
Why am I seeing so many saying England played well? They didn’t. Most of the passing was sideways and backwards and the chances came very infrequently. France we’re just playing defensively and allowing England to have the ball once they took the lead.
Theo Hernandez had a nightmare and he's one of the players I rate very highly. Saka made a minced out of the man. He couldn't even move forward and couldn't stop Saka without committing a fault.
It's not his total number of assists you should be mentioning here, he started playing for France before Mbappe. You should be mentioning the number of assists he gave to Mbappe.
Every country has media pressure, Spain, Brazil and Argentina are examples of where it's the same as, if not worse than, England. The abuse Messi has got over the years from Argentine media and public is unreal.
There’s no such thing as “they were the better team, but they lost.” The game is not won on possession time or chances. It’s won by goals scored vs. given up. They didn’t score enough to win. They lost because they deserved to lose. If they were “the better team,” the scoreboard would reflect it.
@Welmeister yes, for football we’re small and don’t have the wealth of talent available that countries full of immigrants like France have. But the reason there is hype is because all these nasty little tiny countries want to beat us because they’re jealous we’re a much bigger deal than them in the grand scheme of things. If France did a ‘brexit’ no one would mention it outside France and the Americans would be saying ‘France? Is that in Canada’? That’s what it comes down to, people are jealous of the English.
@@imawormbeforeiamman6052 beat countries like Croatia Germany just to lose on penalties to Italy then get to the quarter finals to face the world champions and then lose due to us missing a pen. can’t exactly say we can’t beat a good team
England got no talent. May be only saka ,phoden ,walker can be considered. Find another stricker to replace kane.he is not that great as a stricker. Move him to midfield instead.
Same old story, can't win when it counts. That is what separates England to France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Argentina and Brazil....can't win the big games.
The expected goals stat : 2.4(eng)-1.2(fra), shown at the start of the video probably counts penalties as well. I think this is quite misleading. England's penalties were probably not leading to a shot/chance - but were just poor defending. It was a balanced game.
when ENGLAND come up against a big side at a World Cup knockout match, we ALWAYS Fail. Everyone knows it. Since winning in 1966 our record in big games is as follows: 1970 - lost to West Germany in QF 3-2 1974 Did not Qualify 1978 Did not Qualify 1982 Drew with Spain in Second Group Phase 0-0 (Eliminated on points) 1986 Lost to Argentina in QF 2-1 1990 Lost to West Germany in SF on Pens 1-1 1994 Did not Qualify 1998 Lost to Argentina in Ro16 on Pens 2-2 2002 Lost to Brazil in QF 2-1 2006 Lost to Portugal in QF on Pens 0-0. 2010 Lost to Germany in Ro16 4-1 2014 Eliminated in Group 2018 Lost to Croatia in SF 2-1 2022 Lost to France in QF 2-1 Not one single big win against top opposition. This is our DNA, our Football heritage :(
That’s Mexico’s DNA bro, they can never even win past the round of 16. Only times they make the quarter finals are when there are less teams. I WISH Mexico could take some notes on how to advance in major tournaments. My respects to the English they outplayed France for long stretches of the game.
England did beat Belgium in Ro16 in a most epic manner with a last minute ET goal in 1990. Remember it well, David Platt was the hero then. But yeah...
2nd penalty should be taken by other player instead as Kane spotkick was already been read by Lloris & due to the pressure too, Kane missed the penalty.
Griezmann is the Eli Manning of world football. Not much in games that don't matter all too much. But an all time great stone cold killer in the really big games.
Can't see Morocco winning "if they keep playing like that"? That's funny, you mean playing intelligently, putting on a defence masterclass (while still simultaneously always creating a number of legit dangerous counter attacks), and not conceding a single goal (penalty shootout included) since the start, and against top tier teams? 🤔 This utter buffoon of a man. We're coming for that cup, believe that
After the victory in 2018 France in semi again and without Benzema the Ballon d'Or in attack, Pogba in the middlefield, Kanté in the middlefield, Nkunku in attack (current top scorer of the German Championship), Lucas Hernandez in defense... O_o By the way, it shows the huge reservoir of super players that France has raised and educated in the culture of winning!!!! if Brazil and in second Germany are The World Football GOATs of the 20th century, France is the World Football GOAT of the 21th century! 💪! LES BLEUS ! 💪
In World Cup at 8;4,2 all good teams who ever pass did not mean the other team was bad,it just chance you take and score . The rest of the time left from game it is how manager control it to protect the win. As it happened to Brazil he should add more defense player (exchange ) or secure middle field. The key success is middle field personal individual skills .
Good luck to them all, but personally, Croatia Morocco is what I want. Just to see a new winner. All the stories are great though. Morocco breaking records and representing the progression of African football, messi in his final chance (you would assume), France for the first retention since 1962 and Croatia going for redemption from Russia.
If England were better, how did they not win the game?? They were given TWO PENALTIES. Every other team Brazil, Germany if they didn’t score goals these pundits would be the first criticizing saying they didn’t get it done, blah, blah including the Portugal Morocco game. France scored 2 goals in open play while England were given two penalties, both occasions they were nowhere close to scoring but sure perpetual losers England were the better team LOL.
Precisely, they were basically gifted 2 goals by the ref and still couldn't get it done. Give credit where it's due. France won the football match, not the battle of who can con the ref.
The difference is, most other massive teams lost to inferior sides. England managed to push back a superior side and dominate them in midfield and smother the majority of French attacks comfortably. France were constantly fouling in midfield and near/ around the box to prevent build up play out of desperation in defense. England were the only consistent threatening looking side and the deflected header goal was against the run of play, so they can be proud (for once) in losing a 50/50 game. Every pundit has acknowledged this, not just England media lol.
Almost the exact opposite to what i predicted. I thought england would sit deep and franch would have all the possession, maybe the english would undeservedly get the win. As for the pen appeal england didnt get, it was just outside the box. English players whinged a lot.
Actually, it's just a deja vu of the women's team encounter vs USA in 2019 if you talk about the penalty miss. During that game, the Lionesses still had a huge chance when they trailed 1-2. However, Steph Houghton missed the crucial penalty.
Because it doesn’t matter who plays better. Nobody remembers that. Do you ever hear someone say « oh England played so well in 2002 » Nobody cares at the end of the day Playing better doesn’t mean you deserve to win. Spain play better than most nations. But it’s about who can score and be clinical when the time comes.
France usually allows their opponents to have good possession. And anyone who knows how France plays should not be surprised that England had higher possession.
@@tracer073 ppl said the same thing when Morocco were against Spain and Portugal, but that didn't happen. I do agree France are a different animal, but Morocco will surely give it all. Unfortunately Argentina won't pass Croatia. I expect a 2018 final repeat, but this time Croatia takes revenge and Modric becomes the greatest midfielder.
If england ever wants to win something, they need to spend 6 months in Uruguay to learn how to be more ruthless, passionate and crazy. Gentlemen dont win tournaments
Kane's miss shifts the whole narrative. If he had got that in and England won on penalties, then everyone would be talking about how this was their best performance and how they have matured.
There's no point telling who's dominating the game . Look at Portugal 🇵🇹 vs. Morocco 🇲🇦 . The determination of Morocco's players won the march. At the end, it the Frence that won the match.
I think the difference is England dominated the position and every time they get to final 3rd they looked very dangerous While Portugal had possessions but they never looked like scoring
It's like they are grading england on a curve... basically treating this loss as a moral victory... but being negative about france... which is the team that actually won....
Nice good preceding remarks from everyone. France seems less sovereign in defense than 4 years ago ... But it's true that when they have their good 5 minutes play (sort of speak), they show masterclass performance, score, and prove why they are champions . However, the young players and team spirit of England is showing they 're on the way to become champions. Despite this result.

I beg to disagree about "..the young players... of England... to become champions" because the current French squad and many countries' squads also have several young and even younger players than England.
Stones never looked behind him and didn’t even jump for the cross. I’m no maguire fan but, it’s not all on him. Kane, that penalty was a mess. I’ve never seen him sky one. Oh well, let’s hope for a Moroccan Croatian final. That will be hilarious 😅
Why is Harry Kane getting such an easy pass when during the European Tournament the press and the English public were so vicious against Saka and Rashford? Penalty kicking is a tense undertaking even for a good and usually reliable penalty taker as Harry Kane. Lloris is very familiar with Harry Kane as his club teammate and likely psyched him out.
@@TheDYNAMITE001 And Saka wasn't upset enough? So glad he missed. Commentating was already so terrible to listen to from English people. Now they are churning out videos of Morocco beating France and going to finals with Argentina.
It was mostly jerks Twitter, it wasn't the press and general public. Also, since that time alot of attention has been brought to racial discrimination (England started to kneel before games), so that's why things may have changed.
Very simple coz he ain’t black nothing else to it! White privilege see if that was rashford or saka you would see the racial abuse but it’s Kanes Dna seriel choker after all he plays for bottleham spurs ffs!
