Thumbs down on the 2 low-ranked law schools. I would tell Jimbo to go to Boston College with the partial scholarship, assuming he wants to stay around MA to work. Georgetown's not really worth the full sticker price (as someone who went there and is appalled at how expensive it is now). Hope he will come back and tell everyone what he decided to do.

You are not necessarily doomed going to a lower ranked law school. Either get top grades or look at employment outcomes.

And the vast majority of people who are able to get biglaw jobs cannot stomach it or last for 10 years; most are gone (fired/quit/laid off/told to leave because they aren't partnership material) within 5 years.

Be wary of transferring if you have a full ride at your original school. Your scholarship is non-transferable and you will be paying sticker at your new school.

Chose to transfer out of a scholarship at a school in northeastern’s rank to a school ranked similar to BU. Best decision I could have made for my career. The law school you go to will follow you for the rest of your life. I was able to swing big law at my new school where I didn’t have a shot at my old school. All this to say, if you have big dreams, you may be able to achieve them from northeastern, but it’s not as likely.

Northeastern has co-op---paid and for credit.

It’s a great program but having lived in Boston myself, it’s the 4th best law school in the city, if that. Not a good place to be, even if the school is good, which northeastern unquestionably is.
