If I was making the kind of money they were with no kids on top of that I would be definitely going all out o a gaming setup. What else are you gonna spend your money on other than your hobbies and travelling. They didn't even need to pay a mortgage she owned the house outright.
And considering she said software and game dev, shouldn't she have a bomb set up? Considering what her job is, she might have even been able to write off the purchase assuming this is the us and the tax set up here. But regardless I've never seen someone who works with computer programs and gaming not have a pretty nice setup with all the bells and whistles.
