Training at the highest level day after day is difficult, staying healthy and recovered is even harder. But Xendurance makes it all that much easier.
From hydration, to protein and daily immune boost it is something I can't go without.

Take a look into my full day of training, including a speed track workout and a great lift in the gym. Track work includes some 200s and 280s where we focus on change of pace and running fast relaxed. The gym focuses on hamstrings, single leg work, and maintaining speed and explosiveness without overworking the system.
Workout Reps:
2 x 200
3 x 280
2 x 200
In's and Out's (Accelerate, Coast Accelerate)

More aggressive probably. Maxfly has a full length spike plate while victory only has a forefoot plate. Most pros use more aggressive spikes than are intended for the event. Mo Farah ran 10ks in victory elites instead of matumbos and I think Donovan usually uses the superfly elite or a 400 spike for the 800 instead of the victory.

Hey guys, so I’m a freshman. Cross Country just ended and coach wants us to take at least 2 weeks off from running. Winter track starts soon, and I want to start preparing for my events to run as fast as possible. (Mostly the 800 and 1600) any tips on how to improve on my 2 weeks off from running?

I didn’t but it’s interesting you point that out. I wouldn’t know cause I’ve only worn 1500-5k spikes for the 800 😂
@tylerstogsdill
@tylerstogsdill 2 года назад
@@alejandrotorres712 it keeps you on your toes so that you don’t accidentally lose focus and fall off of the pace. Distance spikes are made more for settling into pace when you do NOT want to do that in an 800. I’d say the air zoom victory and maxfly are both great for 800m because of it hat

how do you advise working on speed for an 800m runner?
@ClaytonMurphy800
@ClaytonMurphy800 3 года назад
Work on both top end, pace work, and strength. All components allow for more speed, just cause you can run fast top end doesn’t matter as much as being able to run strong through 600m and still close well

Hey Clayton: really enjoy your videos, and your candor. Wishing you a successful Olympics, and hope you, Issiah, and Bryce bring it home for us. I was wondering if upon your return, you could share your prerace olympic experiences, such as the warmup track, the calling of the athletes to their qualifying rounds, and warmup, check-in, and waiting( in the staging room) before your olympic final. So many world-class runners share their race experiences, but few give us the inside look into what happens in the hours leading up to their olympic races. I think it would be so helpful to know what you're going thru the moments before your olympic races, what you're feeling, how you interact with your competitors. ATB! Wally

I am a Canadian Mid Distance/Distance coach and I absolutely love this video. What I can appreciate is that he does EVERYTHING. From mechanical focus, plyometrics, posterior chain work, and pace change in and outs with extreme relaxation and control. In my experience too many coachs have not subscribed to the HOW the task is performed or the not so obvious elements of that tasking. I once had a very prominent endurance coach say "Distance runners don't junp, why would they need to" when talking about plyometrics and explosive movements. I remember thinking there is something so wrong about that thought process. Although I have been a huge Clayton Murphy for a number of years this is the first pro training video I have seen and I am already impressed by the video itself the running and the access he has given. A lot of pros put out a lot of crap, this is certainly not that crap! Thank you for good and informative content!

@oliverdreyfuss1093 3 года назад
I wonder why they chose 280 instead of something standard like 300, interesting
@rebarb
@rebarb 3 года назад
I didn't understand that either. It's not clear what the benefit would be to stopping at 280 versus doing 300, when the 300 m distance is already marked on the track, and you have to get out a wheel and set up cones to measure 280.
@adamede9316

My guess would be to practice for people cutting infront on the bell lap but I could be very wrong
@ClaytonMurphy800
@ClaytonMurphy800 3 года назад
So the change of pace is 40m, so 280m allows for the sequencing of changing paces to work. Nothing crazy, just allows reps to be smooth
