*And now in 2023 we not rescuing or protecting any woman. They'll remain strong and independent complaining for the rest of their lives. If a woman's getting beat down in the streets, she better have a gun or call 911 cuz she's on her own. Thank you Cosby Show for predicting the future. What a relief* 🤣🤣✌🏿
I love how Cliff got Claire good in this episode...it did not happen very often but when it did it was great and I have to admit Claire was a classy women to be able to take the joke/gag with a sense of humor....
@@msrain1235 That was the "Isn't It Romantic?" episode...and one of my favorite episodes of the entire series, lol. As far as the 'most romantic' gift was concerned, I thought Martin's gift to Denise (the time capsule) was actually the _sweetest_ (most romantic) gift, _but_ Cliff getting Claire on the 'green plastic bracelet' (after describing the wooden barrette with the glass stone that 'Eunice Chantilly' actually wanted, lmao), I can understand why Cliff's gift to Claire won the 'most romantic' contest. 🌷🕊
This is why this show was so well written. He fooled Claire into thinking he did not read the book and he put his foot in it while explaining his perspective while being asked about that very perspective in a room full of women. Just funny beyond belief.
Nobody commenting this scene ? That was one of the most hilarious of the show 😂 Cliff is just brilliant ! And the other awesome part is Claire 's reaction after she understands he actually read the book 😂😂😂
indeed, there are only two kinds of ppl...men & women...one can pretend to be the other, "feel" whatever and be semantical, however, there are two types that God|dess and Mother Nature created re: humans...nothing but scientific fact ...anything else is socio-political, psychological and emotional...
yes it true you can feel as a woman even you are a man but you are still a man that is a FACT and if you can't accept that something is wrong with you cause i will respect you for whatever you decide but there is only men and women
Geezus fucking Christ, Just stop thinking about race for one goddamn moment because I can see that the media fucked up your brain so hard. These are just amazing people amazing actors amazing characters.. oh my god that was so hard wasn’t it? Think of Dr. Martin Luther King’s saying: focusing on the content of their character. Geezus fuck So goddamn hard isn’t it? You’re fucked up man
Yes they are. Do you remember Growing Pains, Eight Is Enough, Step By Step, The Brady Bunch, Family Ties they all had both parents in the house teaching and raising their kids with the same love and mentality regardless of the color of their skin. And that's real talk my brother. Hit me back any time. Feel free to do so.
@@jeffersonbryant8893the original comment was about Claire and Cliff who happens be black. It’s okay if someone makes a comment that only describes black couples. Stop being offended because no one mentioned the shows that you did that cast white actors. Comments like yours in which you need to feel included (other races) is getting old now… Allow black people to have a shining moment without getting offended.
I get that this was for comedy, but this is a big problem we have. People easily getting offended at something that differs from them, instead of trying to get their view, then say yours, then have a discussion instead of a one way fight.
It's existed for a long time. I remember reading a comic strip in the 90's where a woman got offended at some kids' Halloween costumes. But now these nuts have platforms to shriek on.
Cliff did pull it together though, I couldn't stop laughing, my girl felt the same as Claire did, especially when he actually read the whole book and really paying attention. 😂 😂
What would really be interesting is to go through all the episodes and see just how many stars in their prime, making cameo appearances, as well as 'stars who were yet to become stars', were on the show. Angela Bassett and Epatha Merkerson here.
When he said rescued why did they get offended? Dang I love it when my husband swoops in to save the day he's my knight in shining armor and it makes me feel feminine and safe and valued. Shoot when did everything become offensive?
This was '80s during the time of Oprah and Sally Jesse Rafael Shows... and women wanting to not be defined by a man. Personally, I think that's why we are in the mess we are present-day. There should be room for men to be men, and women to be women...without being considered offensive.
It became offensive when women 'assume' that men are the ONLY ones who can and SHOULD rescue women...not willing to concentrate this ideology to the confines of a heterosexual relationship sprinkled with any ounce of romance...yeah..."Hopeless Romantic" right here! But my wife loves it #28yrsncounting
@joseph robinson Good question. Speaking as a woman, some women in general don't know THE TRUTH. SOME like CLAIR HYPOCRITE HUXTABLE can't handle the truth. Some such as myself don't mind it as long as it's fair and said respectfully.
I want to know if the man I'm speaking to is sexist and doesn't see me as an equal rather than go on blindly and blissfully thinking he respects me as a person. I'm gonna be upset, yeah, but I'd rather know.
You know say what you want about Bill Cosby and what he's done and how disgusting it is if in fact he did those things he is accused of, but we should never attempt to take what he created with this show from him. I think it will be unfair especially to the amazing Phylicia Rashad and other 4 amazing women who made the Cosby show one of the amazing lessons and a template parents could use to raise family. I find myself modeling my family after the Huxtables each day and I was not even in the country when this show was on the air. This show made it possible for America to see black families in a light that was unimaginable. Thank you to all the creators and the actors of this show for that. I am grateful.
In life, 99% of people do good things and bad things, so I can easily make the distinction between the good Cosby did in his work, and the bad he did outside work. That makes him an average Joe. Its the people who put celebrities in a standard they can't reach themselves.
Okay, now I agreed with Cliff! Women can have a need to be rescued as can men! But by censoring Cliff and not allowing him to speak from his perspective you could already see the beginning of the "political correctness" road. People can no longer speak from their hearts for fear of insulting someone. Even if someone is less correct on a matter don't they have the right to feel how they feel and respectfully express those feelings? 😉
Am I not supposed to think Cosby Show is brilliant because of the terrible things the man who played the role did in real life? because i love this show
I’m still a fan of the show regardless Cliff Huxtable and Bill Cosby are two different people one is just a character the other is a man we’ve never known personally
2:13 Cliff: And then, not as obvious as the others...in the description of the Silo. Claire: The Silo, i didn't think of that... Cliff: Well, it's not that obvious... lol
I just want a financially secure man because I’m not gonna mother him and bear all the financial weight of the family myself, if he’s going to be a member of my family he’d better contribute. I don’t need him to rescue me from anything.
So...you can add Angela Bassett and the Sista from Law and Order to the LONG list of actors and actresses that got their Hollywood start from The Cosby Show
Cliff,i thought you are not comparing women to children are you? 4:47 Don't you want some coffee?😂 Cliff:What am saying is that women.... Women: mmmmmhhh (all in unison)😂
I see plenty of women constantly saying online how they want a man who "can protect me". Is that really so much different from what Cliff was saying here? I'm actually a woman myself, but it always makes me chuckle when I hear this "I want the kind of guy who can protect me" crap. Are women in constant danger or something, lol. I'm 46 years old and still alive, never needed a man to protect me from anything... but they are nice to have around for other stuff LOL
@@caramelhoney29 Even if it is all for comedy there is a truth to what he said. The thing is we try to make that a bad thing when it really isn't. And like he said, men also too feel the need to be rescued. Just cause they aren't too vocal about it doesn't make it any less true.
@@DocUno1 HUMANS don't like to be told the truth. It goes both ways. Tell a man he's honestly terrible in bed (and yes I know it goes both ways) and see how that goes. We are ALL wired to enjoy lies. It feeds our ego. Men aren't any different. They only hide their disappointment and pain better.
