Bless little Coco! I'm not sure why Paige got mites but it was really easily treated by the revolution. She also had a few fleas at some stage before that. I couldn't understand how they came up two flights of stairs! (But it was probably the hay!) love your videos. ❤️Steph, Binks & Paige x

Thanks so much honey :) She is 10 years (well, ten years and three months to be exact). She is a real sweetie. A real grumpy old lady to the vacuum and the other bunnies and anyone who tries to pat her or move her things that isn't me, but she is a very precious and sweet girl at heart

Can you always see fur mites on rabbits? My rabbit has been scratchy lately and grooming a lot and I’ve thoroughly searched but can’t find anything

how can i know if my rabbit has fur mites? mine recently had an amputation surgery so they had to shave her yesterday my sister said "don't you think it got bigger?" she was talking about the shaven spot. i already booked an appointment but the closest appointment is after 3 weeks and i can't help but feel anxious after my sister's comment although i must say my rabbit isn't itching or scratching that area and seems to be eating well, i just want an opinion of someone who dealt with fur mites to hopefully help me calm down a bit

So sorry to hear about your bunny's amputation. I hope she heals well and quickly. The good thing is that if your bunny does have fur mites you have noticed quickly and can get onto it before they become a problem. I would not be happy at all that the vet wont see you for so long. my vet will fit me in anytime i have a concern, on the day I ring, even if they have no appointments available. They have a duty of care to see your bunny, especially as your concern is at the site of the operation. If you try to get them to see your bunny again and still have no luck I would be looking for another vet elsewhere to deal with the problem. As your bunny has just had surgery and may have different medications in her system I really think its crucial she sees a vet rather than trying to tackle the problem yourself. Wishing you all the best and let me know if I can help with anything else. Sending love and hugs xxxxx

Help! My rabbit is around 7 years old and has gotten mites in March. I have been treating him with Revolution ever since and the mites aren’t going away. In the original spot on his neck they’ve gone away but the eggs are around the base of his ear and there are a lot along the sides of his neck. I don’t know what else I can do, I already clean his cage a few times a week well. He has a bed sheet for the flooring and his cage is a x pen. I made sure to remove all of his toys and I clean his litter box a lot as well. So I don’t know what I’m doing wrong here cause the eggs keep appearing in different spots!!

x0. zamoraaa hi! So he still has the mites, I’ve been treating him every month with the puppies and kittens Revolution, idk why they are still around the base of his ear but I hope they are almost gone cause this has been going on since March. The only thing I can suggest is ordering the Revolution online or taking your bunny to the vet. I took mine to the vet and they prescribed him drops that I can put in his ears and continuing with the Revolution every month.

A cage is too small for a rabbit but clean it daily instead of every now and then. Also grooming the rabbit to comb excess fur off helps. I recommend the furminator brush.

Would the mites burrow on my skin if it’s scratched? How do I get rid of them from my skin?

Try aloe Vera and a couple drops of clove oil. That’s how I got rid of the mites on me. The clove oil kills them

Hi there :) I would definitely recommend taking your bunny to a vet to get appropriate treatment. Definitely dont bath her as it can be very dangerous to bunnies. Good luck! xx

I think my rabbit has it too. They can transfer to humans and I'm itchy :( my sister wants to come and wash him with natural oils. What do you groom her with? my bunny is white too.

Ive also got cats. after I've teated my rabbit with revolution, how long after should I let them play so my cats don't get it.

Hi Emily :) Sorry to hear your bunny has fur mites. I would not wash your bunny as washing a rabbit can be deadly - the shock and the risk of hypothermia can be very dangerous. My bunnies are in their own room so they do not have contact with my cat and dog, but when I treated my dog for fleas with revolution I also treated my cat as a precuation too. So you could do that for your cats too. Coco's fur mites had cleaned up within a few weeks, but you could always ring a vet and ask just to be sure. And don't panic. They may be irritating little things, but they aren't life threatening and are treatable. Good luck! xx

I only just got him the day before yesterday. My cats havent interracted much with him so not sure theyd have anything. I think i will just go to the vet, i dont believe natural treatments will work. how often do you apply the treatment?
@BunniesOfTheBurrow
@BunniesOfTheBurrow 7 лет назад
I definitely think visiting the vet would be a great idea; especially if you have only just gotten him as he could do with a thorough check up. I think natural treatments have a place but they can be dangerous too if not researched thoroughly. good luck honey! xx
