I love the responses to “why are you driving?” “Just a short trip.” “Just the doctor’s.” “Just Walmart.” As if you don’t need a license for certain destinations or trip durations.
Last time I got stopped for speeding, I was trying to get home after my alarm was set off by a break in. Cop let me go thankfully. I'm pretty sure he called in to see if I was telling the truth.

Always amazed at how casually they say they have no licence , like an optional extra they chose not to go with . On the bright side , his second DUI saves him having to rush to get a new license any time soon . On the downside, his learning curve flatlined a while back.
No safety on Peralta Road during the snowbird season. Unlicensed ATV's and other vehicles routinely run three to four times over the speed limit. Every day. Even through the school zone. (I live right along the road). We need a speed camera or two. Or two permanent Sloup's.
My late husband's friend had a grown son who was a junkie. He took his mother's car without her permission and robbed a bank. He then drove it back to their house and ran, eventually getting arrested. His mother's car was impounded for a long time. The bank tellers recognized him bc he robbed them before on his bicycle. Smh
I appreciate at least that the driver seemingly cooperated and was respectful during the interaction. I hope it also means that they can use this as a catalyst to do what they need to do to get their license, not speed and not drive while impaired. Good luck.
Surprising how many people turn to s*it out there on any stop, much less one like this. A good cop maintains his composure and doesn't give the driver an excuse to be a knucklehead (and the constant presence of body cams doesn't hurt, either ! 😆). But yes, this guy maintained very well, and I half expected Frank to thank him for not turning into a jerk, and complimenting the guy on how he conducted himself.

I don’t think he was stoned. But my question is, what’s wrong with living with your mother? I live with my mother because I’m disabled and my disability benefits don’t even give me enough money to rent a room. People have all kinds of situations, don’t judge.

55 km/h to fast that would be 600 euro and 2 Month no driving. DUI makes it a lot worse ... loosing your licene for at least 2 years. Than prooving that you are sober over 1/2 year and taking a test... costs are easy 2k or more (germany)
It may suck for this guy going to jail and all but it sucks a million times more for a family to lose loved ones in a senseless wreck because some guy was speeding like crazy and under the influence. It probably happens a lot. It's possible Frank saved lives right there.
We just had one shut down a major freeway here in San Diego ALL DAY! 4 people dead, not to mention the 150,000 people who had a TERRIBLE commute because the freeway was shut down. And of course the DUI guy survived just fine.
Putting people in jail because something COULD happen (with regards to suspected DUI) is COVID-19 mask talk. I agree with getting in trouble for the wild speeding on a suspended license though.

79 in a 45 with a suspended license. As always Mr Frank is super professional, with emotions in check - refreshing to see Police interactions this way! And the driver got arrested, but he certainly earned it =)
Remember...Frank fully knows he's fully on camera, and that a RU-vid video is being produced that will be viewed thousands of times,, so OF COURSE he's super professional with his emotions in check! @@scottleggejr Any chance you have more info on that? The info on the Brady List website is pretty vague, and it seems like you can file a complaint pretty easily. Now I do know that Frank's car doesn't have the "cage" to transport arrestees which is why he has to call a car to transport them. It's happened every time he makes an arrest.
I had procrastinated getting my license changed when I moved to a new state. I was the best driver I could be. When I asked the RMV on the phone if there would be any extra charges, she said, “No, but don’t get a ticket on your way up here!”

@@RidingWithJahv Right, since it is completely up to the subjective judgement of the officer and can be used against you in court, even if wrong. Breathalyzer, urine and even blood tests are more accurate and advantageous to the driver.
Actually, he did pretty well. I don't know where Frank claims to have seen irregularities. The thirty seconds were very close, and he was going straight. I can't stand on one leg for that long even when I'm sober - and I'd wobble more. I'm glad that behavioral-based tests are very uncommon here where I live. I think it might be wise not to go along with this and rather insist on a blood test, because even sober it might create a problem when the officer wants it.
It's a waste of time doing those tests - they just provide an excuse for police to arrest, however well you really perform them (as this guy did). Just cut the crap and go for an objective test such as a breathalyser, drug wipe and/or blood test, like the rest of the world does.
Frank is extremely professional in his work. My Dad was a Captain in the Jacksonville Sheriff's office and he would be proud of the way Frank conducts himself.

@scottleggejr it is fairly usual in most states to have people from other states and even countries working as policeman. To say he is not a respected member of law enforcement because he was not born there is a but over the top. As far as lying under oath, I've never seen any proof of that.
The guy's license has been suspended for two YEARS, he hasn't been able to get it back yet, and he's still driving. Don't expect any miraculous learning curve.

I feel bad for the mom. But she should be angry at her son, not the police. Just too many compounded stupid decisions. Also having a weed vape in your pocket makes your defense super difficult in a DUI case.

@@CJ-ol9gd in context to DUI. The average ego of an officer makes it incredibly difficult for them to change their mind after initially deciding that they believe someone is impaired.
I really don't think field sobriety tests are accurate. Especially anything pertaining to balance. Many people who have been injured in the past may have issues with these tests and because its at the officers discretion they may be wrongfully arresting many people.
Imagine, an extrajudicial punishment and none here raise the issue of its constitutionality. There's also the connected impound yard that charges $50/day. That adds up fast and amounts to a pre court fine that gets paid to a connected local. Impound stinks.
Dang missed my Friday with Frank and had to watch it Saturday . Who with a sane m.... Oh wait, that's in the US, so forget about that. In my country you better abide by the suspended license (you are in for up to a year in prison and/or a hefty monetary fine). After a DUI you have a lengthy suspension of your license and you can only retake your license exam after a costly and strict psychological exam where you need to convince the examiner that you are not likely to reoffend. Running a red light (= points on your license + hefty fine + 1-2 months suspension of license), excess speeding (= points on your license + moderate fine + 1-3 months suspension of license if you are significantly over the limit, less significant speeding but repeat offender = 1 month license suspension), using your phone while driving (= points on your license and fine), tailgating (to little distance to the car in front of you (= points on your license and hefty fine + possibly an immediate 1-2 months suspended license) - get 8 points (and those offenses I listed carry 1-3 points, depending on severity) and your license is revoked and you need to go to the above exam. Oh and in Austria there now is a new law that would end with his car being auctioned off for the excess speed he drove it at.
@@duramaxadventures5832 The fines the courts dish out for driving without a license don't seem to be a deterrent to do so. The law seems toothless. In Germany losing your license is a case where fr example your privilege to drive a company car is immediately removed while you are without a license (your company management will have gotten for example the correspondence about your traffic infractions and you have to keep a copy of your driving license current with them), so you have to revert to public transport or use the bicycle to go to work (has happened to two colleagues of mine for speeding twice in short succession, they only had one month license suspension - oh and that isn't in the courts digression it is a simple case of the DMV issuing the suspension automatically when the speeding/red light running/tailgating/etc is considered final after possible court appeals...
In Germany his mom would get a visit by the police and would have had a very good explanation why she didn't know he was suspended - else she'd get some bracelets of her own.

I’ve lost count of the number of people I’ve arrested, who were nice and swore that they wouldn’t lie to me box they love cops, then when they make a phone call from jail they tell their loved one that they did nothing wrong and I was just looking for a reason to arrest them.
My license was suspended once decades ago for doing something stupid (excess of 170 on a bike qualifies, I think). During the suspension I did drive a few times. I made sure everything worked properly on my car, the registration was current, and I carefully obeyed traffic laws. 79 in a 45 while stoned? Uh, no.
I had mine suspended yrs ago, I got a ten speed & rode it everywhere, through New England winters ,I get it if I had a legit car I might have used it for an emergency but not for earrings.

Sobriety tests are so subjective, typically the cop has made up his mind to arrest prior to even starting the test. This appears to be what happened here. Unless Frank was going to wait for mom to come pick up her car and worthless son, what was he going to do, let him drive away?
We couldn't see how he did following the pen with his eyes, he couldn't hold his foot up, & we couldn't see or smell other indicators that Frank has been trained to observe.
LOL. That is why sobriety tests are left up to the pros who are trained on what to look for, even though I personally think a blood test or breathalyzer are more scientific and accurate.
Those DUI tests are insane. I can't even perform these actions in a way that would make the cop consider Im high af. Seen people doing way worse on those tests and still pass.

Mom's car. Poor mom, she finally convinced her no hope son to go to WalMart for her to get some shampoo, even bribing him with new earrings, and now her car is impounded for 20 days plus a whole bunch of impound fees. It's almost like it doesn't pay to enable your loser kids.

Oh wow is his mom going to be angry at him for getting her car impounded for 20 days! Dude, your actions affect others in so many ways. This will probably be a hardship for her - most of us need our cars to get to work, buy groceries, etc. I hope this will be the wake-up call for him to get his life back on track. Frank handled this perfectly, as usual!
You know weed is a lot different than most drugs, especially alcohol. And he probably has such a high tolerance that it doesn't affect him that much. He obviously just passed that sobriety test with no problems.
@adammiller9179 Some people have a high tolerance to alcohol too and can function. The guy could barely stand on one leg and never kept his foot parallel to the ground. He obviously didn’t pass the sobriety test. Driving high is illegal, just like driving drunk.
This would have been an excellent case to plead the 5th and refuse the filed sobriety test. - Do you know why I stopped you? - I don't know (instead of "yeah, I was speeding") -Driving license please - I don't have a driving license with me (he ahs to say that because he is required to give it to the officer) - And why not? - I want to exercise my right to remain silent. (instead of "It was suspended for DUI") - Do you use marijuana? When was the last time? - I will not answer questions (instead of yeah, "I do marijuana, I had some earlier today") - Ok, step out of the car - (he complies, he is required to do so) - Let's so some tests - I decline (instead of "sure, go ahead") The guy incriminated himself in every way possible. Not that he wasn't in deep sheet anyway. He was going to be arrested one way or the other. But he left almost nothing left to prove to the prosecutor, he confessed everything.
@@jtg2525 .. Not so. AN officer can arrest you for DUI with or without a field test or a breathalyzer test. He just needs "probable cause" and he can use the way you were driving, the smell in your breath or your car, your bloody or shiny eyes, your slurred speech, etc.. (whether they are real or not, because it's subjective, the same as the field sobriety test). What in may states you can't refuse is a blood test or a professional breath test done at the station or at a hospital. If refuse it's taken as you were DUI. Not related with the police arresting you for DUI on the spot, but with the prosecutor proving it in court. All that said, if an officer asks you to do a sobriety test it is because he already suspects you are driving under the influence. If you refuse he will use his previous cues to arrest you. If you accept and you are DUI, you will most likely fail, but even if you are not DUI you are in a bad spot because the police already suspects that you are DUI, and the evaluation of the field sobriety test is subjective, and your ability to pass it when not DUI may vary even if you are completely sober. I am not one of the guys that says "never talk to the police". On the contrary. But if a police stops me and starts talking like Frank did here, at that point I stop collaborating, for 2 reasons. 1) I am not DUI, NEVER, not even remotely close, so if he starts talking about smell and slurred speech etc I KNOW he is making up BS already, and he can make up BS with the field sobriety test too. So better go ahead, arrest me, I will submit to a blood test and come out clean. But in the hypothetical case that you were DUI, that is a serious offense. It's not just speeding or changing lanes without signal. And you should be arrested and punished for that. But don't serve the case in a golden plate for the prosecutor. Or do if you just want to own it and be held accountable, which doesn't seem to be the case here given all the excuses that this kid was giving.
He wasn't under arrest so the 5th doesn't apply. All his evasiveness will melt away when our hero runs his ID thru the system, notices his Rick&Morty, tattoos, and strawberry pot vape, and then RU-vid tears him apart for being disrespectful and uncooperative. Did you believe he'd have a chance to drive home, or keep the car, or get only a warning?
The tests are not only about the physical condition of a driver but the ability to follow instructions which makes the driver able to cognitively drive. Impairment makes it difficult to follow all the instructions properly.
@@kayfurlano1462 That’s what the marketing says but I think the truth is a bit different. The tests are not scientific at all. The results are based purely on the officer’s opinion, an officer whose opinion is you’re impaired which is why you’re talking the tests in the first place. The tests are meant to create probable cause to arrest you and to be used as evidence against you in court not to make sure you’re safe to drive. The tests also have a very high failure rate among sober people.
