It's wild how bad the side buttons are on this mouse, so of course I had to fix it! I also swap the switches out for 30M TTC Gold Dustproof switches. All my stuff: ents.win/links/ Music: Zelda & Chill - gamechops.com
Did the same thing on my Superlight but used masking tape instead of aluminum and replaced the scroll encoder with TTC Yellow Core as well. Learned a lot from you!
While the tape mod reduce pre-travel and wobble on the buttons I highly recommend to make the switch swap because there is serious inconsistencies between switches, specially low tier ones like huanos or chinese omrons. Yesterday I did the full upgrade on my old main with Kailth 4.0 and the mice feel is completely different now. I wish I knew it sooner, the result is definitively a premium feel.
@@Solus793 Well 2 years later they pulled of some good witches. I like tactile and firm to press switch so the Kailth 4.0 / 8.0 are my recommended choice. There is even encoders with such firm feedback to find if one look for full upgrades.
@@ariathyf144 I always had a good opinion of Huano switches - I took some black shell + blue dot Huano's out of an old white logo (pre BENQ) Zowie FK1 the other day into my hotswap socket GPX and they were amazing.
Sent in my gpro wireless to Ents for switch replacement. The service was done quickly and fixed the doubleclicking. I would recommend this as a great fix for a double clicking gpro. I originally RMAd my gpro but the new one also ended up double-clicking. However, If your mouse is out of warranty, id say $46 bucks for Ents' service is worth it over trying to replace the mouse full price.
Yo, with the help of your videos I went from 0 soldering experience to fixing my gpw and modding my superlight! I ended up going with the kailh 2.0 teals for both of them and I couldn't be happier. The side button fix is massive too! Thanks so much dude. I have a question though, as hard as I tried I couldn't get the switch for my right click in my gpx perfectly straight. Although it feels fine and it's working right now, do you think I'm going to run into any problems down the line?
i used to use the superlight, its still at my desk. i got an attack shark x3 a couple weeks ago and a kysona m600 for my brothers birthday (its the same mouse) paid $45 for the x3 and $35 for the kysona and its crazy how a $35 mouse that comes with glass skates has better side buttons than a $120 mouse. better shape imo as well. shell doesnt flex either. are $100+ mice a scam??
Thanks for the tutorial, small question though. Do you think I should be fine using normal aluminum foil with some sort of glue or will there be some thickness issues compared to using aluminum tape?
Great work when you mil max ur pcb for hotswap, did you have to grind out the exoskeleton slightly for the milmax to fit properly. I did and wasnt a big deal but didnt see anyone else mention it so was just curious. Just took my wow stick and slight turned the screw driver until the pcb would lay back down again.
Hey Ents. Thanks for the awesome video and tutorial. I was able to swap my switches for Kailh 2.0's and fix the mushy side buttons with a bit of tape. Your tip of adding solder then heating up the pads made removing the switches EASY! Where I MESSED up was putting back in the scroll wheel. The little spring flew off the plastic housing and I can no longer find it. Any thoughts on a replacement spring? I tried bending a small paperclip but it just rattled around when I closed the mouse.
ik I'm late but if something like that happens again get a t-shirt and put 1 layer over the end of a vacuum and vacuum the floor and the tshirt should catch the object
great video, do you happen to know which switches the gpx uses as the side buttons? I wanted to purchase a gpx superlight and swap the side button switches but wasn't sure which switches are compatible since I don't know if they're angled or not.
Hi Ents, I just followed your guide to install the OEM switches with some silent kailh switches and the process went great! Thank you for a great guide. I am looking for some silent switches for the side switches of my Logitech g pro x superlight. Any recommendations? The switch is much thinner than the regular mouse 1 and 2 switch.
I'm used to the glorious model o side mouse buttons but my super light side mouse buttons feel like i can barely click the in it's like they are on the inside of the mouse and I'm just pushing them in further
I don't like the right and left switches, the encoder detents are far too mushy and the physical height of side buttons is too short. I can easily imagine how to swap out switches and encoders, but I have no idea what to do with button height other than to 3D print or somehow find a replacement part.
Nice video as always, but Idk if u going to answer since this is a old video. Which switch do I need to replace de side buttons switch? mine is double clicking.
Quick question. I replaced switches on G Pro Wireless, everything was fine except for my scroll wheel. For example I scroll down then it will randomly scroll up and vice versa. What does this problem sound like to you? Great video btw.
yes, but not for upgraded switches, and they are on a ribbon cable which i would think is nearly certain to break during soldering if it's not hot air method
Will you be offering this service at some point? I was looking at your modding form and see that you only offer m1 and m2 button modding but id really like the side buttons to not be shit on my gpx :(
hey, my g pro superlight mouse button just snapped and i was wondering if you knew of any way to get a replacement plastic bit? like the white plastic bit you have @2:58. thanks
Once my azeron cyborg arrives I’m going to be switching from the g502 lightspeed to the gpx super light. If you replace the main switches can I also get you to add metal tape to the side buttons when you do it so they aren’t as mushy?
Hello ! I have a big problem on my GPX Superlight the part of the M4 button (first side button) broke and i can't find any new piece to replace it, do you know where i can buy one ?
I know this is old, but can i pop out the cap for the thumb button without taking apart the whole thing? My thumb button does a double input somehow when using windows and google and of course i cant live without it lol. I dont know if it needs to be cleaned or if its just busted.
@@entsfps So, after doing some more searching, i seen a few mentions of it being static buildup, and can be "fixed" by blowing hot air into the slot... I tried and so far so good. But is it a switch problem, so i will have to replace it eventually, or can it happen anytime to even a good switch?
what do you mean when the omron D2F-01F wont always fit, is it a quality control issue or does it not fit in some mice, will it fit in a g703 and deathadder v2 pro
Yo I’m having double clicking issues with the side buttons. And don’t think it’s a software issue and pretty sure it has to do with the switch it self. My first question is did you have any problem similar to mine ? And my second question is is it possible to switch the physical side button switch it self for a beginner who never even soldered ?
its possible to swap, but its on a ribbon cable which is insanely easy to melt, so easy that I don't/won't swap those. so for a first timer...id definitely try to warranty the mouse/RMA before soldering
@@ninjabieber7695 What did you end up doing? I’m 3 months past warranty, how annoying… Still going to try getting a response from Logitech tomorrow (today was a weekend) even though I ultimately expect that to fail lol!!
So I needed like the side buttons more like out from the mouse so there not so mushy and like to into the mouse if you know what I mean. Could you do that?
What are the switch options for side buttons? They use a different one compared to the switches used for main buttons and I can't seem to find the alternative options for these.
Hello guys I have a question. If i want to swap side button switches in my mouse are they the same as the switches in main buttons ? I cant find switches for side buttons that are opticall for my gpro
@@entsfps oh okay what mods can you suggest? I wanna go all out on it. (Came from the boardzy video and I thought he got his middle button changed as well.)
@@entsfps yes please when you are free. Have a starlight 12 with side buttons starting to not register clicks. Fragile ribbon cables are my nightmare, process should be similar on GPX too.
yo! My side buttons actually keep breaking...like snapping at the base. This is my second pro x within the year. Anyone else have this issue and a fix?
do you mean for me personally? i do if it's easy (like if i can swap to a heavier encoder with a pcb swap vs soldering it) or if it's actually broken -- i just got a gpwsl and the encoder is way too soft, I'll be swapping to a PCB with a lubed yellow TTC encoder which is extremely tactile and more of my thing. i tend to leave my own stuff stock unless its actually broken.
@@entsfps Sorry, not a Native english speaker. The metal tape, the alluminum tape, How did you make it that size? You bought it on that size, or did you cut It?
@@entsfps Thanks for the answer man, just bought it to do it myself. I will start soldering with older mice first to learn it well. Do you think that a 420 degrees celsius soldering iron could damage the PCB?
lubing should help with sound, but make it looser or smoother feeling, other option is install a more tactile scroll encoder which may also be kinda loud
@@entsfps Where would it be best to lube? What encoder do you recommend? I don't mind If its louder if consistent. I come from a g502 haha. My gpwx current scroll wheel is quiet to loud 2/3 of the time. Thanks for the reply! Appreciate it!
@@professionaI_yapper imgur.com/a/jJt1I1L lube there, but if its sealed, like kailhs are, you can't lube it. i like the kailh ones, alps ones are also very good
