Finally found an educated creator who uses the R6ii 😭, in your video about how to make cinematic shots, you activated zebras and false color, is there a reason to use either one over the other? Loving the videos by the way!
I’m so glad I could help! I felt the same way about the Canon R6 Mark II so I thought, I’ll make the content then 😜 It’s personal preference. Zebras only show exposure values for the 2 values you set. While False Color has 6 ranges of values that it shows you, giving you a more detailed look at exposure over your image. I use Zebras to make sure highlights don’t clip since I like to slightly over expose Clog-3 for cleaner shadows. Hope that answers your question!
Great channel Bruno. False color is a great tool for video eork. I can't believe even the cinema grade Sony cameras like fx3 or a7s3 didn't have it. Hige plus for Canon. Btw, Canon C70 which is a pro cinema camera also has the same index. You'll get used to the pink-greenbthing. Sony shooters will need to carry an external monitor to get this feature! I believe it's a game changer and very few people are yalking about this.bGood job! PS: All pro directors always use false color on set. İt's that important
I didn’t know that about the fx3 wow. Yeah I do love false color, I use a monitor for it at the moment but I should practice it more with the Internal Canon one 😅 Thanks so much for the kind words! I appreciate it
i use false colour all the time in my r8, it takes some time and trail and error to get the feel just like new car but once you get hang of it in shooting and editing, i find it way quicker, easier & better than zebra or wave form ....... those 2 helps in exposure once you get use to false colour it also helps in composition and lighting as well..... i love using false colour
Im starting to love it more as I use it. It is awesome cause it shows the whole screens exposure, versus just parts of the image with zebras or waveforms

Great video. I think its worth to practise with false colors because its so easy to mess up Clog3 exposure and this tool seems quite useful. I dont like the fact that you cant use false colors or zebras with manual focus guide (red border lines). It takes few clicks to switch etween those options with shortcuts but you may end up with shaky footage due to pushing buttons. Like for weddings, every second is important and its kinda annoying to switch options over and over again. Well shooting picture styles is easier than log but everything has its price😅
Yeah that is tough, my suggestion would be to hotkey the False Color/Zebras and the focus peaking (which is what I think you mean right?). So you can quickly set up exposure with one button, turn that setting off and quickly turn back on the focus peaking.
@@KALINAmoto Nice, yeah it can get shaky then I can see that. The only other solution would be to use an external monitor to see exposure but then it might be tough to even see the focus peaking at the same time.
The r6ii has only overheated on me 1 time. Last Texas summer I was shooting 4k 60fps outdoors with 112 degree temperatures and about 57 percent humidity. Other than that never overheated again. Justifiable in my opinion.
That’s awesome! I actually haven’t had an overheating issue either but I don’t shoot in 4k60p too often. The mark 1 gave me some scares overheating for an outdoor wedding once tho 😂

@@vsevolodtrofimov4999 set the camera to video mode and manual. Then it’s in the red camera menu, page 8, HDMI Display, then choose the Camera + Monitor option. Keep in mind that you cannot record internally with that option enabled. Cheers
Could you tell me how an external monitor works on a canon camera? Does the camera screen turn off during recording? And autofocus control is impossible?
The way it works is you have two options. Only the monitor or both screens on. Then depending on the camera you may not be able to record to the SD card if you have both monitors on. That’s the issue I have with the R6II and my monitor doesn’t do recording so I end up having to only have the monitor on so I can record to my SD card. Hope this helps
