This is the stupid thing. People find characters relatable not because of their appearance typically but from an exploration of themes and emotions. It’s the humanity in characters we appreciate and relate to, not their hair style or if they have a masculine jaw line. As you say, real life sucks 90% of the time. That’s why we love these cool characters like Goku, Sonic, and 2B and Bayonetta because they look cool and do cool things.

They say female characters with idealized forms are unrealistic, but they probably don't think the same way about male characters with idealized forms, even though the actors who look like that in movies have to maintain a diet and exercise routine that many of them have said is impossible to maintain, and on top of that they have to take steroids. I'm pretty sure the model for Stellar Blade doesn't need to literally take drugs to maintain her figure, yet they get worked up over that. There really is a double standard.

REALLY well done and you feel the choices. I dunno Baldurs Gate 3 was a hit. That game is pretty diverse I'd say lol ya got lizard people, tieflings, orcs, demon people. It's got a lot.

@TheRealTonie I was giving one example of a game that made a lot of sales and is, in a way, diverse. It was a half joke, it's a fantasy game so of course the cast is diverse. I admit my jokes aren't usually that good. I will say though, you could do that if you wanted to. Art shouldn't be limited too much, but if you want this story to be historically accurate then sure.

​@@redfrog1628funny you mentioned it. Fantastical diversity is actually good because naturally you'd WANT to see a variety of unfamiliar faces in a fantasy world. I was actually disappointed in the diversity of baldur's gate companions. Its just elves and dudes. In divinity 2 we had a skeleton nerd , white woman , a man who looked like qasem soleimani , a lizard that looked nothing like a human , a dwarf and an elf that looked like a tree person. Shit was lit.

Not really, no, these people don't care about guys most of the time. They tend to mostly focus on women, POC and sexual preferences. Now, it is 100% to make characters like all these things, however, it is another thing when you bash other products for being unrealistic when in reality, pretty women is a real thing irl.

The problem isn't unrealistic female characters the problem is ugly ones half the time the models the character is based on is way better looking. We all want to be attractive not be ugly monstrosities.

If you look into the psychology of it. its most definitely because they get jealous of seeing a more attractive person than them. That's what its always been.
