@@insanecheapo195 I'm not an expert, but my gut feeling is that the reason people love those characters is because despite their strength, ambition, and intelligence, they're still women. I wish I could express this better, but a lot of female characters like Frey in Forspoken just feel like counterfeit men. Another character I absolutely love is Faith from Mirror's Edge, I put tons of hours into that game even though you play as an Asian woman and I'm a white guy lol. It's almost like authenticity and suspension of disbelief matter a lot more than check boxes.

But to be fair - if person is skilled enough - it isn't hard to make an attractive character with the right tools nowadays. Altough attractiveness is subjective, it is still true. Sure a lil bit of touch is needed usually, but making them uglier usually takes more effort to also make it organic enough.

Ok, I will say it. I don't like fan service. Even in anime, I don't like it. I find it a waste of the time and often, the developer/anime creator focus on that instead of the story or the game mechanic. And i just don't like it over all. But, I am not going to start to insult people for that. I am not going to spam developers because of that. For me, this is just a question of taste and priority. If I don't like it, I just avoid it, that's all. Let people who like it in peace.
Another point to consider: the people making purposefully ugly women for games are also putting in a good bit of effort to make them look that way. And if someone is working on something they genuinely like, they're going to be more motivated.

The only time a friend of mine was upset at the color palett was when there was no blue skin color. In general i see more people getting upset the less choice they have and not the opposite, happy when there is less choice. Similiar for hair colors, everyone wants their favourite color, limiting them is seen as bad in my friends group. A lot of diversity in character creation is more loved then restrictions. Me and my friends, we get upset if we can't color our hair in "unnatural" colors like Orange/Blue/Purple. These people have no idea about gamers and their preferences. Also a lot of them generalise and don't see how diverse gaming and gamers are.

On the topic of skin colour pallets there was this one game, I forgot which one, where the Scandinavian and other super light skinned gamers wanted a lighter skin tone to be available because the lightest skin tone offered in the game was too tanned for them to make themselves. I don't find this unreasonable because a large variety of skin tones should be available in the first place and I know some European and Boreal races cannot tan at all. Like their skin literally cannot tan no matter how much sun they get. So that was interesting and you can imagine the twitter mob when that happened.
I saw that clip of Dean trying to beat the Cuphead tutorial a few years ago. It gave me second-hand embarrassment. And also, I saw a clip of him playing Doom Eternal in the "I'm too young to die" difficulty, and he still sucked ass playing that game. He couldn't aim for his life, failed to kill a single Arachnotron, and his platforming skills were as good as his skills at Cuphead. And he gave a bad score to Mass Effect because he couldn't assign talent points to his character. Games journalists, ladies and gentlemen.
I'm 29, and I deleted Twitter over stupid stuff like this. People will always find something to complain about, if it isn't one thing it's another. People only think for themselves, if you're making a game to try to make money then the overall community opinion is what you shoot for, being creative while being acceptable. It was a good thing at one point, it used to mean that a person was aware of issues in society not presented by the popular narrative and knew the truth behind things like social hierarchy. Then it was hijacked by average left wing twitter users to make it seem like you're aware, when really you're just pushing your own opinions as "truth". In the same way, now it's used by right wing political groups as an insult meaning someone who thinks they know the truth, when they're actually just reciting the narrative they've been given. The meaning has done a complete 180, and now is just a political label.

I think the only complaint I've ever seen in character creators is when the randomize button is too strong and just creates abominations, when you can select voice options asynchronous from your gender choice, and when you have to select a pronoun (which I've never actually seen be relevant in such).

Besides, we can use some eye-candy after all the eye-sores western developers and producers spew nowadays.
they're purposefully ignoring the fact that people aren't actually upset with the body types of most characters. It's the fact that all of these characters people call "woke" have the faces of the product of incest. The models for games like you see with Fable or Forspoken or Horizon Forbidden West look beautiful in real life but they purposefully made the 3d model significantly uglier.
Byyy the way... The Korean side isn't really "anti-woke" as in the western context. There's a really strange phenomena with the social and economical situation since a while ago. I think moon channel covered it a month ago, about a gender war but he also covered the whole historical context of it.
