How do you get it to read the usb drive without the shield reformatting it? I put the roms on a thumb drive from my Mac but when I plug it into the shield it won't access it, it'll want to format it.
I want to set up a retro arcade room for me & the kids + guests. Can I link 4 Bluetooth controllers to the shield to play games like the Simpsons, ninja turtles, captain commando, caddis vs dinosaurs etc...? Thanks
I have a usb n64 controller, I can’t use the start button because it doubles as a home button. Any way to change what I’d want the home button to be, or could I set the start button as a button combo inside retroarch
It no longer detects the back button on my Xbox One X controller. Can't play any games that need a select button. Also heaps of mame cores are missing and Retroarch plus doesn't install on the shield anyway to fix this
I feel like I heard somewhere that you could add other play store emulators to retroarch on the Nvidia shield, but I'm also concerned that I absolutely just dreamt that up. Heard anything about that?
I have no cores in my list? Like I see load core, but there's no core that I can download. All I can see is a bunch of core that I can't use and when I click on them, all I can see is: Latest version already installed. Any help please? (On Nvidia shield, arch version 1.9.0)
Due to Google Play Store not allowing in app updaters, they've now cracked down on RetroArch core downloaders. Thus it comes with all cores pre-installed now.
Trying to play killer Instinct mame 2003Plus but on retroarch using the Navidia Shield, but there is no way to add coins to Start the game with my Xbox controller . On the nintendo switch its select, but on the Shield it doesn't work. What must I do ?
I got my Shield only a week before you made this video, so we should be using the same model with the same software. But whenever I scan directories, nothing ever appears. I think this has something to do with the Shield refusing me access to it's internal storage. No matter what file explorer app I try I can't copy any files to the shield. Access is always forbidden. Can you help? Thanks.
@BEN 1891 Thanks for the help. But I tried that. When I scan the directories it shows all the roms being scanned, but then nothing shows up after it's done.
Please help! When I download a core it says I already have the lately installed version, however I’ve never downloaded the cores before and then they don’t show up in my load core
Wondering how to configure controllers for each core? And also how do you save all of the settings once you've configured? when I close RetroArch it goes back to default
The problem I have had is that it auto detects my Nvidia Shield Game Controller. And the .cfg file sets the Nvidia Button as the Menu Toggle (takes you back to the RetroArch menu when you are in the middle of playing a game). But that Nvidia Button doesn't work as the Menu Toggle, it pulls up the Shield voice search instead.
@@TechFigure sort of. I manually set the Menu Toggle to "L3 + R3". That will bring me back to the RetroArch menu while playing , but the Shield Game Controller stops working at that point. I then have to push any button the the Shield Remote Control, then after pushing that one button, the Game Controller works and I can navigate around the RArch menu and resume the game. But when resuming the game the Controller often (but not always) will stop working again and I have to press a button on the Shield Remote to get the Controller to work again. It is like the transition from game to RA menu, or from RA menu to a paused game will disable my Controller. But when I start the game the first time, the Game Controller always works.
@@TechFigure I scanned the right folders. It showed the progress bar of roms being scanned. Nothing was added to the menu. Also, if I close retroarch, it doesn't save my L3 R3 menu command that I set like you did. Is that related?
I have the Nvidia Shield TV Pro and tried to connect my Amazon Fire TV Game Controller, it takes ages until it gets connected but fails to maintain the connection and as of recently whenever I tried to connect my Controller it forces to reboot my Shield TV Pro. Any I dea what I'm doing wrong or do you have a suggestion what alternative controller works fine with the Shield TV Pro?
Does anyone know how to get the Gamecube and Wii games to work on the Nvidia shield? I got the first shield that was released. I got every other system working but when I try to start a Gamecube or Wii game, Retroarch will crash. Does anybody here get it to work?
I cant figure this out everytime I get to the part when I open the storage and the bunch of numbers I click on it and I don't have the retro roms like you have does this still work or is it impossible to get this to work im using a 5 tb hard drive 3.0
@@TechFigure Nope. Just installed RetroArch on freshly set up Shield Pro. Buttons on both game controller (from XBox) and remote controller did not work. Except for one useless button actually. App looked frozen and unresponsive at all. I remember I had similar issues with old Shield (non Pro) setup and had to edit config files manually, which is a pain. But app at least showed some signs of life. Anyway. RetroArch64 worked out of the box. Now have to upload actual roms.
@@TechFigure I get it, in my case it's my psp roms all in the same format. DIG is able to scan the drive and locate them but retroarch alone can't find them completely weird.
The USB a thumb drive with the game roms on It is not being seen within Retroarch. When I go back to the home screen and load a file manager, it does display the u s b drive and romfolders. Any suggestions? Also, when I plugged the u s b drive into the back of the nvidia shield TV, it did detect it.
