I have a black G806 laying on the arm of the couch. For the price I paid this is a superb knife! The blade is very well made and sharp. The handle is also well made and comfy to hold. The sheath holds the knife in either way. It clamps around your belt securely. The whole rig is weather proof. If all you need to do is cut and notch sticks for camp, fix supper and fight bad guys, right here is your knife! For chopping trees down and splitting wood get an axe!
I've never bought a Mora, but the only one I own, came free with a backpack purchase. I just wish that Ganzo offered their outdoors/EDC knives in carbon Steel also. Thanks for sharing.
Walmart is doing Mora knockoffs that I am intriqued by. 2 different sets at 3 knives for $15. They also do a $2-3 bait knife that I have considered getting to practise sharpening. For the price of Mora's I'm almost reluctant to get others because the Mora companion is so much bang for your buck. This coming from Ganzo...I would get one of these.
The thing about this design of boat knife is that it's not just mora. Tackle shops have many knives like these with the same handle and sheath style. I think it's different enough to definitely dodge the title "copy"
ganzo isn’t a bad brand, yeah they copy brands and ideas but at least they brand their stuff ganzo so they don’t sell fakes and the quality is always good. I’ll be buying one of these
love the Ganzo 727M, my favorite folder for the price, I use to buy them for $12 to $13 off gearbest..but no more..Amazon at $19.99 is still not bad. This Ganzo at $15 I think is a real contender. I think Morakniv Companion Stainless edge is too thin, got messed up on batoning. Might just pick this up on Amazon.
I like Mora, but hate the scandi grind..sucks for food prep, full flat or high saber grind, or even buck's high hollow grind works good for cutting food.
It came sharp and is a very nice knife for the money. I suppose it is a Mora competitor, but it really might compete more with the Cold Steel Pendelton Light Hunter or the Finn Bear. Nice that you can put the knife in the sheath in 2 directions. You can push the Mora out of the sheath easier. The best thing about the Mora is its sheath.
Theres a lot of gasstation folders that are 15 bucks and are complete garbage. How bad can it be for 17 bucks shipped? It cant compare to a mora beacuse they are tried and true, but its different and a decent design. Im going to get one to throw in the car. Ill use it for a beater. Obviously moras are beaters but theyre too nice to beat on too much imo, yet im yet to break a mora. My old mora robust is 6 hears old and the handle is beat up but its still going strong
A couple years ago several models were. I was buying Companions for under $9. They are $15+ now. If you shop hard, you can still get a basic 511 carbon for about $7.50 or a 546 stainless for $8. 75. Some Walmarts have the black "Sorta Mora" bait knife for around $3 or so. BUDK has the similar "Wahoo Killer" that sometimes sells for $4.. (I used to buy them 3 for $5 delivered!) Neither of these are Scandi grind. I like the shape and grind of this Ganzo G806. I'll probably buy one to go with my 20 or so Moras.
Ok hear me out- the ganzo isn’t a bad knife, it’s decent for things like food prep and light wood working/ bushcraft. If you want it to be a mora killer, cut the price in half. The only advantage it has above the mora is the super ambidextrous sheath. Other than that, if I’m gonna pay $15 for a mora-like knife- I’ll just buy the mora, every time.
Unless ganzo is sold for $13 or less, I don't see how they can beat morakniv. Mora 546 is $13. If ganzo is sold at a higher price than mora, ganzo needs to have considerably better knife or brand power. Ganzo has neither.
I don't know if they're in the market to beat Mora. Ganzo edges are NOT scandi. They are traditional V edge which some people might prefer. The standard V edge is much easier to sharpen. Some people throw away their Moras because they don't have the skill to sharpen Scandi edge.
