1/2 pound your favorite pasta
1/4 cup unsalted butter

For those of you saying this video isn't "revolutionary" enough to warrant a video...it was for me! And I'm by no means a novice cook. It was great to actually see the color of the garlic and butter to know how far to take it. It's a lovely video with some helpful ideas well presented!!

If Emma had put a cup of the pasta water into the butter and garlic mixture when it was ready to pull from the stove (or even just before), that method can produce some awesome sauces from Italy. It's building good technique. If you enjoyed this....check out more of the simple recipes (Carbonara, Caccio e pepe, allo y oglio, sage butter, etc.) Once you learn how to emulsify the butter and pasta water sauce properly...you can do some REALLY cool stuff (like...gnocchi with a butter sauce and cheese is divine!)

@@jamesbaio9327 Please don't assume people are unfamiliar with that technique. This particular recipe works differently. And since I just made it for lunch, I can say it works well!!! In cooking, as in life, there are many different approaches.

Agree...Sometimes its harder to take 2 or 3 ingredients and make a stellar dish than throw in 17 ingredients.. I'm a huge fan of cooking like this, I could watch these all day and still learn a lot :)

If you want to be wild, you can sprinkle what she's suggested, but I've also made creamy scrambled eggs as a side for dinner. With crispy bacon bits sprinkled over the pasta. This was in Germany when I cooked breakfast for dinner for my German family. They'd never heard of such a thing. Loved them and still miss them these many years later.

Agree, I'm a big garlic fan, can never have too much garlic. Pasta without grated parm cheese is like a cake without icing.

The basic recipe is called aglio e olio, and Italians make it with linguine. My mother would put anchovies in the blender and then stir it into the sauce (they mostly melt). Greco-Roman civilization: there's much to love about it.

Yes. I just made some spaghetti aglio olio yesterday. Sort of similar, but uses EVOO, parsley, and red pepper flakes in addition to the garlic.

I’m gonna add shredded chicken breast roasted tomatoes and herbs to this to make it more of a filling meal for dinner tonight make some home made garlic bread on the side with a salad pair it with some white wine 🍷 !!

My two favorite flavors.. GARLIC AND BUTTER. Only better because this recipe calls for TONS OF BUTTER and a VAT OF BUTTER over pasta. All of which I happen to have on hand! Oh baby!

I understand that the flavor in pre-minced garlic is a bit weaker But that just means you use more garlic, and I see nothing wrong with that :D

Butter and pasta are my childhood. I had, and still have severe OCD with food. When I get too overwhelmed with food I always cook dried spaghetti and drain it onto a plate with a lot of salted butter. so much butter that I cover my beard and mustache with it and need to wash my face.

I read recently that the pre-peeled garlic that comes from China should be avoided. There were some questionable chemicals and techniques that were you used in the processing that brought into question the safety of it. I apologize for not remembering where I read this, but will do some more looking and post a link if I find it. The article was very detailed and seemed reputable.

Don’t eat pre peeled garlic, especially if it comes from Christopher Ranch. The garlic is peeled by Chinese prisoners and the inmates peel so much garlic that they lose their fingernails. Since some inmates lose their fingernails they use their mouth to peel the garlic. I saw this topic recent on a netflix doc series.

For anyone thinking this is a lot of butter (it is), this is why nutritionists recommend reducing restaurant meals. This is also the reason why meals eating out taste better -they’re generally made with enormous amounts of fat, lots of salt, etc. So, while it’s a lot of butter, much like having a delicious meal out, it’s probably ok to enjoy this once in a while. Eat like this routinely over an extended period of time and you’re in for some health problems. It would also behoove you to pair any carbohydrate-heavy dish with a lightly dressed salad and some lean protein like a grilled chicken breast or fish.

It's called vocal fry. I first learned of this from watching her 1st video because someone explained it in the comments section. I thought it was unintentional and natural but many people few videos later claimed that this kind of voice is intentional mostly by women, to sound attractive? Not sure about Emma,m since I don't know her in real life. What I know from conments some viewers hate it and find it annoying. From google also you can read many are annoyed and irritated by it. I don't really care either way, as long as I don't spund like it lol.

I love garlic and I was so excited to do this recipe BUT unfortunately I need to say this: IT TASTED HORRIBLE AND SMELL DISGUSTING. And I'm aware garlic itself is strong and I was really careful with the butter not burning but this is just not it. I don't know if is the ration or maybe my garlic was stronger in flavour but I was so sad and disappointed So, as a suggestion, just be careful with this recipe and maybe try one service first so you don't have to waste food like I did

This video is like watching paint dry. You can reduce it to 1 minute, stop talking to yourself and get on with the recipe. Stupid things like get tongs for taking out the pasta? You can leave that and other redundant crap out. Hurry it up, it's not rocket science. This video will work on a children's cooking program though.
