Nice install I installed a Garmin on my first pontoon took me all day. I had them install it on my new pontoon it's a sun tracker 22 tri toon. I usually do stuff like that my self. I live by Tim's Ford southern Tn.
@@STEVEHADDOCK No problems with the boat bought it new in 2020 but the trailer bunks are already having issues already replaced 4 there is 12. They are easy to replace just thought they should have lasted longer. I think it could be warranty work just don't want to tie up the boat and they don't cost much. I live 1 mile from the launch ramp so they do get used. We had a runabout for 14 years it was fun but love the pontoon. 300 hours on it now.
Nice and simple but takes time.......I see you went with the awesome Garmin 93sv touch screen with UHD 54 transducer. That's going to make you happy. I have hummingbird low end units on my boat like everyone else getting the garbage 5 inch minimum trash fish finder. I'm really amazed that boat companies sale bass boats with pretty much only a map and 2D finder. During these days the standard console fish finder should have down and side imaging....... PERIOD.
I agree. I’m sure the 5” would work fine on a small kayak, but definitely not something that should come standard with a brand new bass boat. I’m loving the 93SV so far. Thanks for commenting.
Thanks for the video. I'm thinking that's the 54 transducer. My 56 bracket won't fit in the old holes. It seems too low using the template so I'm going to hang it on a plate from the top step. We'll see. Maybe garmin has a skimmer and connector for on pane?
using thr swing arm RAM mount are you able to swing it around and view it from the bow area? my current 5” unit mounted by the windshield area is able to swing around and view it from the bow, but Im wanting to upgrade to a 9” Garmin like in the video. Looks like the RAM swing mount might be the answer if you tell me it can swing around and be viewed from the bow area.
Thank you. Yes, you can see it pretty well from the bow. Last couple of times I went out I used it instead of the one on the bow because even being further away it is still easier to see than the small one up front.
Hi, your video was a huge help today with my installation. Thanks 😊 My buddy thinks I should mount the transducer on the transom and not in the original mounted holes like you did. Not sure why. How is everything working out for you?
Curious how you like the transducer on the stern instead of the bow? And how has the system worked for you so far? Any frequency interference etc? Thanks and nice install!
Thanks for the comments. I like the placement just fine. I have the transducer for the front graph on the trolling motor and that works fine as well. The system has been working well overall, no complaints. Tight lines!
Word of warning. Those transducer mounting screws are soft! I stripped the head of the port screw using my drill and had it set light but it still stripped. The screw was almost tight so I got away popping a snap ring in between the screw head and bracket
Thanks for the comment and the warning. That’s one of the reasons I prefer to use hand tools whenever I can. They certainly don’t make things like they used to.
The one that I used came with the Garmin unit. But they sell them on Amazon and they probably carry them at Cabelas and places like that. amzn.to/47B2ueW
The one that came with the unit is not quite the same as the ones on Amazon but maybe the description can help you find one if it doesn’t come with your unit.
I don’t think I stripped any but some of em were definitely hard to find. Seems like those square drive screw bits wear out pretty quickly as well. My camper uses the same type of screws and I bought a few of those square drive bits and drivers.
I've got the same boat. (1) How good does the mount hold when driving? (2) I was debating on the 6" or 12" arm. Is your screen close enough for good operation? mj
The mount is holding up very well. I was just thinking about it yesterday because I was out on some really choppy waters. It holds position great. The placement feels good to me, I don’t think I would have it any closer. I don’t think a 12” mount would hurt but I am happy with the 6”.
I have the same boat I bought garmin 126sv and I’ve been over thinking where to mount the transducer the instructions said to mount it on the right side because of right hand rotation of prop and 15” away from the prop looks to me like bass tracker mounted on left and to close to the prop just for looks and not to manufacture specs for the transducer the hook 5 in my opinion has never worked that great other than being low end fish finder wonder if this could have something to do with why ?
I hear you on the over thinking…I tend to do that a lot. I spent some time on researching the placement as well. Garmin has some recommendations but at the same time suggest going with the boat manufacturer recommendations. The internet is a real rabbit hole sometimes. Just decided to try it where they had the previous one and it has worked out well. I’m not sure that the prop wash is much of a factor for my situation. I find that I am usually using the trolling motor when I am using the fish finder.
I used 1/4" x 2" Hex head stainless steal bolts with 1/4" flat washers and 1/4x20 locking nuts for the mount to the boat. The bolts for the graph to mount I just used some other 1/4" bolts I had around the garage but would probably work well to use the same bolts as the other but maybe 3/4" length or so.

How did the transducer work after install? I’m doing mine now and I’m afraid it will sit a little low if I use factory holes for other transducer. Do you have a picture of final position?
I had the same issue and I actually flipped the transom mount upside down (had to dremel some of the plastic dove tail so the unit could flip up w contact…but the metal bracket on Amazon should work better. Steve I got the same mount and installed similarly w my 93V….I got it done yesterday and then stumbled upon this video looking for strange case ideas for my 93sv and 126sv….would have saved me time watching your vid lol…spent a week deciding on my mount. Great video man!!!
@@DamonDowning1 I got the radio from Amazon as well. amzn.to/3wQ7efI Unfortunately I didn’t do an install video on that. I’ve been really happy with it though, and it’s been working great. If you’re going to install speakers in the side panels like I did, I would recommend finding the proper size hole saw. I did it with a series of small drill holes and then cut between them. It worked, but made it pretty tedious.
this is the exact finder im planning to put on my 175 when I get it --- thanks! is there a video on the stereo instal? ---- did the old transducer bolts really line up with the new and put it in the right position? -- seems like that never happens! thanks for the video
thanks! sure would be nice If the holes line up on my boat -- its going to be a 24 but should be in the same spot I think can't change that much in two years @@STEVEHADDOCK
@@anonimous596 The transducer has been working well so far. Yeah, the holes lined up with the old one great. I’m sure they haven’t changed much in the last couple years.
@@STEVEHADDOCK to bad -im sure lots of us would watch it! --- those side panels, is there anything behind them? did you remove them or find a way to look behind before you cut? I'm always afraid to drill where I can't see ---- is that panel as far from the sides as it looks? - looks like about 4 inches of dead space. - is it safe to drill or cut into??
@@anonimous596 the panel on the drivers side does come off and made it easier to drill through. The other one is just foam behind it. Plenty of room to drill into as long as you’re careful. I drilled a couple of pilot holes at first just to be safe. I just cut out the foam where the speaker needed to go and then ran the wires through the rest of the foam with a coat hanger.
