just got the garmin to my doorstep today. your videos have been very helpful and i am excited to try it out! would have also liked to see in this video you add a 3rd ball that just a normal prov1 and how it compares. still on the fence about getting the rct.
The dot is going to improve it based on my testing. They are cheap so no reason not to use them. Just seemed to have a few misses where the RCT has been a solid improvement so far.
Great Video! I have recently purchased a Mevo +, your videos have been a great help on that, especially the well put mat putting review! Would love to see a similar video for RCT vs dot, dot + RCT (spin axis aid?) on E6 / GSPro with the Mevo +. I know they are not certified for use by FlightScope, but interesting to see if you think they help.
Yeah I might do that soon for sure. I have used RCT on mevo+ with good results. Early on I found some wonky output of spin but have not done it in a while so might be good time to revisit. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the review I tried the metal dots and don't see much difference. You also verify that the R10 reads left shot or draw as a right shot or fade. I tested my ball fight actually playing and I see this all the time on the R10. I think the spin axis calculation is way off. I have to adjust my aim in GSPro left to compensate.
Yeah it's good most of the time but has misses occasionally so want to make sure everyone is aware. Yes, I have said it actually from the beginning that the spin access is something people need to be aware of. Thanks for watching!
I would think adding a thin strip of metal tape partially around the the golf ball would yield better results. If the inside of the RCT ball is lined with metal in the shape of a Y, it stands to reason, one would need something more than just a dot. So, if you achieved better results already, imagine what could be achieved by using a bit more metal??
Have you done any testing with the Garmin golf app? It seems like you're using the aftermarket apps with the R10. I'm having issues with longer club distance accuracy with the Garmin SW that you don't seem to experience.
I had an instructor mention that you can use a silver sharpie in lieu of metal dots. He was speaking in the context of a Mevo plus. I'd assume that this should apply to the R10. I wonder if drawing with the silver sharpie might get you closer to the RCT functionalty. Jus got an R10 as a starter and will consider upgrading to a mevo plus over time, though the simulation/entertainment factor for the Garmin seems very promising for the price point.
Whoa. He is wrong. That sharpie does not have the proper makeup of material for radar to track let alone it would mar up your screen. Sorry to say, but he was wrong.
@@GolfSimulatorVideos Good to know. It' seemed suspect, and I didn't have the chance to research it. Thanks for your insights and the time you take to make the videos. I got my R10 used, but will be back to you when I hopefully upgrade in the near future.
Hi, thanks for sharing the video. I was wondering if you were planning to do more comparison videos featuring the R10 and taking suggestions? I've seen your post from March where you gave a critical but fair assessment of the R10's shortcomings which mostly has to do with calculated backspin and no direct comparison to the mevo+ due to incompatibility with the metal dot. I have an R10 and I found the calculated spin numbers to be underestimated on short irons/wedges and overestimated on long irons/woods. I’ve also noted that that discrepancy between the calculated and real spin tapers down towards the middle of my set. These are my observations pre-4.30 update so my suggestion/request is, can you do a comparison similar to this video with the overhead unit as a baseline, the mevo+ and R10 side-by-side with RCT balls, metal dot balls, and regular balls (no dot) using wedges, mid irons, and driver? Now that the R10 is reading RCT balls, you can do a direct comparison to the mevo+ which could not be done before plus I think a lot of people would be curious to see how it performs in the wedges and driver. Thanks for your consideration.
So you actually can't. The two radar units will potentially interfere with each other, making it a bad comparison. the best thing to do is just get baseline numbers and compare them to a camera unit like I have done already. I find the backspin on r10 pretty solid using RCT. Some misses. It's the spin axis I find it to miss quite a bit and that can cause opposite flight curve.
hey - Great video as always!!!! Quick question: Best 4k projector for 16:10 aspect ratio setup for GC3 and FSX PLAY? Would look at a good 1080p one as well.... Keep 'em videos coming!!! Thanks
I use the BenQ 936ST. Has a 4k sensor that runs the Ultra HD 16:10 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Cwz1fUPU-JY.html Shoot me an email and I can connect you for projectors. 4k or 1080p etc.
Another good video. One question I cannot seem to find the answer to is why can they can't be used outdoors? I use my Garmin outside into a net. I cannot imagine how this is any different than an indoor simulator. Do the balls melt in the sun or something? Hope you can help answer for us backyard guys. Thanks.
Thanks mate. I usually use my garmin on the range & during practise rounds. My problem is that it hardly ever manages to capture/calculate spin rates on my 60-56-52 wedges, nor on my driver, either leaving them blank or just filling in 1000. Any ideas how to get those nrs as well?
Idk if you’ll read a comment on an older video, but have you tried elevating the r10 about 1 inch? Reddit claims to be helping with the launch angle. Your the only one comparing it to an accurate device that’s overhead so I was just curious?
If only the RC10 showed real spin axis data. Is it possible that your alignment of the RC10 was off and that is what was responsible for the disparity? Thanks
@@GolfSimulatorVideos no I understand that, but it’s weird that the carry distance of the Garmin is within +/- 1 yard of total distance of the other monitor.. maybe there’s something to that as far as accuracy of the Garmin..
Is there any benefit to using these balls for the gc Quad? Looked around and can't find anything regarding the subject..thinking they don't because of the lack of info.
My friend has an R10 and when we play E6 remotely his spin/height numbers are horrendous compared to mine (mevo+ w/ dot).. His swing might have something to do with it but not half as much.. He said he tried dotting his ball and said they didn't work at all so I'll tell him to check this video out..
@@GolfSimulatorVideos I doubt he will go for those overpriced balls but would you say metallic dot is a marked improvement over nothing? I know on Mevo+ I used to not bother but now I see how much of a diff it makes.
@@VoodooZ yes metallic dot seems to work most of the time I just saw a few misses vs RCT I haven't seen a miss yet but have only done so much testing. But even driver was pretty solid backspin wising RCT.
I use E6 golf and Awesome golf with a Garmin R10. Awesome shows spin but E6 does not. Anyone else experiencing this? Last year, 2021, E6 showed spin, this year it does not.....
It has been a struggle for sure. I have said it since the beginning. At $599 a good value for many but you have to know what to expect from a calculated spin axis with decent stated Margin of error.
@@GolfSimulatorVideos when ive looked on videos on youtube with the r10 it seems like your the only one thats honest and says that its not accurate with the spin axis... al others just say ive compared it to trackman quad etc and it show the same numbers, and that is not true :P Great video as always :)
@@3o1Golf always uncut videos just showing it straight up ya know. Never trying to judge someone but pretty tough to trust a video not showing the actual data.
In the simulation it's more important the accuracy and R10 it gives many errors in the lateral effects and in the angle of exit of the ball, not even with this ball, I would not buy it, thanks for your videos
Spin axis is very important for me as well. I need to know the exact shape of shots. Now many have expressed that hitting clean shots no shape it gives them good spin and distance and that is plenty for them for $599 so that is why I have expressed it's a solid value for that but have made sure to point out the estimated spin axis weakness. Thanks for watching!
After going to many of indoor golf centers I am 100 % convinced that none of these units , even the high end ones ( Trackman ) are accurate indoors . I am a very in consistent hitter yet on these devices I am great . When you watch all these types of videos you guys are say " I normally hit 167 with a slight draw " If that were true you guys would be tour players . In reality on the course on real lies and conditions you are all over the place . Decided not to waste the money and spend time at golf course or range off real grass and where I can see the ball actually go 170 and draw .
Johnathan, everyone has a right to their opinion. I appreciate you watching! I actually find the higher end cameras systems are very accurate indoors and I have even done quite a bit of testing with my GCQuad outdoors to verify.
When they say that, I think that it’s what they hit if they hit it good, they do not mean that they hit 170 with a nice little draw all the time 🤷♂️ The training and information that you get with the high end simulators is accurate and the data that you get from the is really important. Then if you don’t understand all the numbers I can see that it’s frustrating and that you don’t think that it’s better to be at the range and just hit balls, but then it just basically training on how good you hit the ball 👍 I see your point on training on grass but still the information that you get from the simulators is crucial 😊
This is largely simply the difference between hitting on turf vs. grass. It’s also possible that simulators are more accurate for shots with less variance overall. Tour pros wouldn’t use them if they sucked.
U can never replicate real vs simulator. The conditions, air, terrain, so many variables which makes you even swing different. Cant blame the simulator for ur inconsistencies mate. I bet you hit different in the range and on course. Maybe you shouldnt even trust the range😂
