Our avionics expert Larry Anglisano talks with Garmin's Jim Alpiser at Sun 'n Fun to get an update on supply-chain issues, product availability and the upcoming end of support for legacy GNS 430/530 products.
I just want to say that Garmin Aviation Tech Support is unsurpassed in customer service. I just spent an hour with this skilled and people oriented customer service group and give them two thumbs up. Great job, team!
Wow this update from 2005 is incredible, such cutting edge technology for the time! I'm just glad we don't need to spend the price of a luxury car on slow computers any more 😅
Unfortunately, the displays aren’t one of the items that has improved. I ordered a GDU-460 in January with an expected March availability and just recently was told now it will be May/June.
So if a GNS 530 goes out, are any of the new units drop-in replacements or would the new units require the replacement/addition of other avionics/displays/gauges in order to work?
1:12 "If you're thinking about an upgrade and you need a solution, we got your back and we got you covered" - well, would Garmin consider producing some more GIA63W then, even if it's only upon order..?!? There are lots of owners of older G1000 planes like me who need those units to upgrade their GIA63 to WAAS, and the 64 version is unfortunately not an option (I'd take it in a heartbeat) because of certification.
