Loved the review! I'm new in the smartwatches' world, so I'm kinda trying to find the one that fits me the best. Could you maybe do a comparison between the Garmin Venu 2S and de Huawei GT 3? Thank you!!
Thank you Sara! And I'm actually looking into reviewing the Huawei GT 3 42mm but unfortunately it's currently not available at any of my local stores and is sold out on Amazon Canada. However, if I'm able to get my hands on it I'll do a review/comparison in the future!
Hello Abby, do you know if it is possible to charge the watch during an activity? I am looking for a watch that can record an activity for 24 hours (ex. 100 km walk). Thank you in advance :)
Hello, i don't think that is possible. You'd have to take it off to charge it. I'd recommend an MIP display watch as they have linger battery life with GPS. For example, the Garmin Fenix 7S can last up to 37 hours with GPS only plus activity tracking. Or the Garmin Forerunner 255S can last up to 26 hours with GPS only while tracking an outdoor activity like run, hike, walk, etc.
Thank you for the review! Can you do a video dedicated to the Garmin coach functionality? Does it give audio feedback when you have connected headphones?
Hello Igsvt! Sure thing :) I'll aim to have a Garmin Coach review video for July or August latest :). And no it does not give audio feedback. It vibrates and gives visual feedback on the watch to prompt you of the upcoming stage/pace/interval on your scheduled run!
Hey Abby, thanks for the great review! Ive been considering Themis model but was wondering how you felt about the white strap? Do you notice it gets dirty? Does it clean well?
Hi Sarah! I love the rose gold with the white strap! And I don't find it gets any dirtier than any other colour garmin watches I have. Also, it cleans very easily. I typically wear it in the shower and that keeps it clean, or I just clean it with water. And about 1-2 times I month I clean it with isopropyl alcohol. Hope that helps :)
Hi Desiree! Those are 2 very different watches. Some of the many differences are design, size, GPS, price, music, displays, activity tracking and battery life. I have a full review on the Garmin Lily here ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iWO9enVXbp4.html ) if you are interested 😊
Thanks for your video!! :) Would you recommend getting the Venu 2S over the Vivoactive 4S? I am a first-time watch buyer and was thinking of getting the vivoactive 4S since it is a lot less pricey (I watched your review of that watch too! :) ) but also wanted to hear your opinion on whether the Venu 2S is a lot better?
Hi Sydney! Thanks for reaching out! I have a comparison video coming out next TechTuesday June 8th on the Venu 2S vs Vivoactive 4S. There I will answer your question on which watch I think is better considering all functions and the prices. If you are okay with waiting until then to purchase, it may be beneficial for you. If you'd like a response now feel free to dm me on Instagram @abbybreviewing :)
Thank you for this video! Super insightful. My questions are 1. Do i need to have spotify premium the ability to download songs to the watch? 2. Are all these watch features compatible just through the free Garmin connect app? 3. Regarding the Garmin coach is this something you pay month for in addition to purchasing the watch? And if so is the coach worth it?
Hello! Yes, you can only download music with a Spotify premium account. Yes but, tbh you can view pretty much everything in the watch but can see more detailed views for, all features accessible through the Garmin Connect app. Garmin does not charge extra for any features. That's one of my favourite things about Garmin. Likewise, Garmin Coach is also free with the purchase of the watch, definitely been worth trying in my opinion (i have a video about my Garmin Coach experience, and the coaches here): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7fYq13tx02U.htmlsi=utHV5rFJlegchdRB The only thing with an upcharge would be if you choose to download music through a subscription service like Spotify, Amazon or Deezer. Alternatively, there is no charge to download MP3 files onto the watch if you have some on your computer.
That's awesome! I'm glad you found my videos helpful, and I hope you enjoy your new Venu 2S Krystal 😊. Also, the watch faces shown are pre-installed ones tnat came with my Venu 2S, I just customized the colours/options to suit my preferences.
Thank you! And it does have safety features for example if incident detection is turned on, and if an incident is detected or you request help from your watch, Garmin Connect will send your name and location to your emergency contacts. For this to work your phone does have to be with you, and connected to your watch.
Have you noticed any staining on your white band? My job requires a navy uniform and was curious if the white band will get stained from the dyes and look dirty.
Hi J&J G, I have not had any staining or discoloration to the white band on my Venu 2S in my experience. And I wear a lot of bright colours and haven't had any colours bleed into or stain the band.
Hi Whatatay T, the Venu 2S does not have maps built in. Some Garmin watches with maps are the Fenix 6S Pro, Fenix 7S, and Forerunner 255S. They have a navigate option that can be suedngir directions. And I have done full reviews on all of these watches if you're interested!
Hi Maine Pusong! I don't see an option to do that for the strength activity. However, you can make your own custom workouts in the Garmin Connect app and add them on your watch. In the custom workout you could set rest times, active time, and cool down time for example, at different time intervals. Also, the watch will vibrate when its time to switch between stages in the workout.
Hi Abby, I have two questions. Do you know anything about how durable the charging cords are? Do they need to be replaced often? I hate that the pins stop connecting to the back of the watch for a recharge because they get pushed in and the charge stops working. I guess this is a problem of the accessory to the watch rather than the watch itself. Also, what have you heard about how many years the Venu 2S is supposed to last? Currently I have the Fitbit Sense watch and I've had to replace the Fitbit watches every 2-3 years. I'd much rather pay more for a longer lasting watch! thank you so much! Ahna
Hi Ahna, so I've had some Garmin charging cords for 4+ years and haven't needed to replace any of them yet but, adversely I had a friend run over a Garmin charging cord with a desk chair and it broke, so it depends on how you take care of it. I can't say how long the Venu 2S watch will last, that's not something that was advertised and it's only been out since 2021. I've had mine for almost 2 years though. When it comes to how long a watch will last, once again that definitely depends on how you take care of it. But, I will say in comparison to Fitbit, even when I took good care of them I've had some randomly die on me, stop charging, stop connecting to my phone etc. in the past, and that's never happened to me with any Garmin watch I've used.
Your videos have been very useful helping me select the right garmin watch I'm buying someone as a gift. I chose the 2S but now realize this video (and therefore the watch) is nearly two years old. Do you think I should have waited for a newer model to be released? Must be coming soon. Thanks.
Hi frankinsoc, glad to hear your finding my videos helpful 😊. The Venu 2S is still a great watch in 2023, and is one I would recommended and still use regularly! Just because it's almost 2 years out doesn't mean it's bad now or not worth buying, it still tracks everything well, is responsive, gets updates etc. Also, you can wait for a new version if you prefer but, it's unknown when/if Garmin will come out with that.
@@AbbyBReviewing oh so it won’t look good if I change straps to another colour . I would have to stick to the colour white. Thank you for letting me know. 😃
@Abby have u tried it under water. I used to have a VAV3 and loved it but the screen was so sensitive in the shower that it would go crazy sometimes. Have u noticed that with this new Venu 2?
Hi Serrgio! I haven't used it under water but have worn it multiple times in the shower and washing dishes, and the Venu 2S is definitely less sensitive than the Vivoactive 3 in that aspect. I owned a Vivoactive 3 previously and had the same issue! The Venu 2S when wet the screen only occasionally wakes but half the time remains off I think because it doesn't have an always on display and it has new firmware updates may be why its less sensitive to water compared to the Vivoactive 3.
@@AbbyBReviewing ok that's amazing. One more question does it have a running, biking and swimming profile because I imagine it does and does it connect to any other garmin accessories such as a Heart rate monitor strap. If so, then boom it has everything I desire.
@@swil8622 Yes it has all of those profiles! However it comes with only a handful of activity profiles pre-installed so you may need to install some using the Garmin Connect app (there are many many activity profiles to choose from on the app). And yes it can also connect to an external heart rate strap thier is an option to this under the sensors section in the settings.😊
Hello, yes you can read the screen outside in the sun. I show what it looks like in the sun in my Venu 2S vs Huawei Watch GT3 review if you are interested check it out here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QbPBxcjX9T8.html :)
Hi Rachel! The touchscreen is very responsive even when I have a screen protector applied. And yes you have an option to lock the screen called "lock screen" you can even add this option in your Venu 2S's shortcut control menu for easy access 😊
Hi Lily! It only comes with a Garmin charging cord, you can see the specific cord in my unboxing here ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-s622lovdv9k.html ) if your interested. Also the charger adapter that you plug the provided cord into has to be purchased separately. And yes you can use a 5v-2a to charge it, that is what I use actually :)
Hi, thanks for the Video! Do you know if it is possible to set up your own time intervall workout? For example 10 rounds with 4min Training and 2 min rest?
@@annkatringopfert8435 No problem :) 1. Open Garmin Connect App 2. Click the (triple lines at the top left and select Training 3. Click on Workouts 4. Select Create a Workout 5. Select workout type (ex. strength, cardio) 6. Input your time durations for your warm up, cool down and workout interval times or reps (if you choose strength training) 7. Save & name the workout 8. You will now see your custom workout, in the my workout section below click on it 9. No click the top right phone icon and select the smartwatch you want this workout added to 10. Sync your watch to your phone and the interval workout to be added 11. You can now start the workout on your watch which can be found under the corresponding category (ex. strength interval workout under strength, run interval workout under runs etc.)
Hi Carlo! You cannot set notifications for the shortcut, the shortcut options are; alarms, brightness, timers, stopwatch, music control, save location, wallet or disable. However you can always set notifications as one of your glances daily metrics and if you position it first and swipe up it will be the first one you see. And thank you 😊
Thanks for the great review. One thing I think that might frustrate me is how short the display stays active while you are using the screen - is there a setting that I could use to extend the time it stays 'awake'?
Thank you Janine! And yes you can change the display timeout setting to short, medium, long (with each option staying on a few seconds longer than the last), or always on display. But please note that as you increase the display timeout duration the battery life goes down.
