I’ve been a professional guitarist all my life. In my opinion, there are many guitarists who are just as good or better....technically. But I have not heard anyone who comes even close to Gary musically. Music is so much more than ‘look how fast I can play!’ Every note that this man played was PERFECT! He made that guitar (and all of us!) cry. You can’t teach someone to do that. That you have to born with. He was simply ......the best! RIP Gary.
I agree. But i think, Gary always was very underrated from a technical point of view. He could shred as good as any shredder back in the 80's. Check out "Gary Moore - Top 10 Shred Licks (Live 1984-95)"!
There are so many layers here. We are truly witnessing magic. This man was more than a guitarist. He was a vessel a voice. So amazing beyond words. This is a true invitation to a place beyond the stars. RIP What a gifted amazing person!
I listen to Gary an awful lot, just love his blues, voice everything about him. He just blows me away. Try and find this type of music these days. No chance. Thanks Gary you were and still are superb.
Even with my eyes shut there's no doubt who's in command of that guitar......can only be Gary Moore. He gives the strings life, feeling and emotion like no one else. RIP Gary, we miss you. God Bless.
very well said. and that is EXACTLY what music is: a language of human emotion and mood, transferred to the listener. countless emotions that can't be described in words, but experienced when listening to it. universal and without the need for interpretation, because it's directly connected to us. some understand it, and some don't. Gary Moore knew that he is telling a story without words, but with emotions in his playing.
How have so many of us missed this man's genius for so many decades. I am so grateful I found his music...and am truly blown away with the ease of his natural ability vocally as well as instrumentally. He is one of a kind no doubt. Wish he was still with us today. I am addicted. Hope he knows what a beautiful gift he left behind for us all.
There are no words to describe this. There simply aren't. I'm just glad that there are so many others who listen to Gary and are overwhelmed by emotions and the beauty of his playing. I've been a fan of his for decades and I'm rediscovering him as I'm going through some emotionally difficult time in my life. Nobody else can match his playing and what he brings to it.
Unbelievable, Gary Moore at his absolute best! This Performance is one of the greatest, so great that its pinned high up in the Blues hall of Feels and Finesse.
This is an epic intro. Check out his Live in Stockholm footage, particularly "The Loner" and "Empty Rooms." Have someone with you to pick you up off the floor :)
This is just a absolutely fantastic performance! It's so so good! Many guitarists only dream of doing what Gary could do, I could sit and listen to this all day long! RIP one of the best guitar players the world has seen.
@@stevenhendry841 The 1990 at Montraux live with Albert King and Collins. I wore the VCR tape out and the CD. Awesome performance. Gary played with his soul. I still listen to him and it boggles my mind how amazing he was.
Another thing about Gary: he takes the live versions of his already breathtakingly beautiful songs to another level. This intro just floors me; every note and improvisation is just perfect. I don’t have the words to describe just how amazing it is. Same with “The Loner” and “Empty Rooms” Live In Stockholm. Especially “The Loner” is out of this world, both the intro and the extended ending. I also love, love seeing Gary’s body language when he plays live. He is the music he plays. He also looks like a kid playing with his favorite toy. And he’s an exceptional singer. This live version showcases just how good he is. We miss you, Gary.
I have been playing guitar for 48 yrs,and have worked with the best in the studio and live But Mr Gary Moore is without a doubt the best God bless you Gary and you are missed
Gary Moore. Separate Ways - takes the blues to another level. He’s a guitarist who plays from his heart 💔 and soul also knows how to sing with such emotion too. A true professional. A just love this track.

That’s such a shame, I feel very blessed to have seen him play live 3 times, first with his Rock music back in the 80’s & then his blues in the 90’s and early 2000’s, an amazing experience.
I'm a London taxi driver and was very lucky to have picked Gary up and drive him to Abby road studio, we chatted for about 30 min and I can tell you guys he was very down to earth and easy to talk too, I asked him about the thin lizzy days and he told he still misses phil to this day, nice guy.
I just recently discovered him, on my phone. I about fell to pieces I started to cry when I realized he had passed. His birthday was April 4th 1952 it freaks me out my birthday is April 13th 1952 . My heart has been sad ever since and I've been listening to him and the longer I listen to him. He was so incredible, it is so sad to lose someone that is so talented as him. It's so saddens my heart. God bless his soul
I’m a Metal Head and Classic Rock/ Hard Rock guy and Gary Moore is my favorite Guitarist of All Time, his Rock and Blues Music is Phenomenal and his Solo’s can bring me to tears 👑 He is The Best and I miss him🙏
A Master Class from the Master, Few could equal but none could better the Man was a Genius!!!! it's hard to listen to this version and not Cry he puts so much feeling into the intro and then takes it to another level when he starts singing, he is helped in no small way by a fabulous Band. R.I.P Gary
I FEEL LUCKY..I SAW HIM LIVE TO PLAY IN ATHENS IN 2007...RIP BROTHER ..EVERY TIME I HEAR YOUR VOICE MY HEART IS JUST BROKEN..LOVE YOU FOR EVER AND EVER
Gary alway played with so much passion, its like you could see right into his heart and soul every time he played......Amazing Talent, A unbelievable Huge Loss to the guitar and Blues world!!!
Man......this brings tears to my eyes in some odd way.......tears of happiness that a piece of music like this exists and tears of sorrow because in 100 years people will see through music how the world once had a soul.....
Sorry Gary, I missed the boat... I never did get to see you play Brother. I consider you one of the best player, singer, and writer. Hope to see you in heaven. RIP
Got introduced to Gary by a great friend in 2022. Very unfortunate this guy has been around as long as I’ve loved music, and I never heard of him. The recognition system in the general rock community is strong, but how do you let this master become obscure? How is this guy not at the top of everyone’s guitarist list? He delivered music that no one else in this era can match imo. True music that makes you feel it and ultimately almost become it. Only the classical masters delivered music that touches the soul like Gary can. Yes there are other greats, and rightfully so. But none of them express emotion and music even close to Gary’s level. Until I got introduced to Gary, my favorite (since I’ve really known music) has been David Gilmour. And Gary was the only guy who made me reconsider. Yes that includes all the big well known names as well. This guy was more than a guitar master, he was a musical master and a genius at musical expression. RIP Gary, you were definitely one of a kind.
This is what the electric guitar is all about.. just a small amount of what it can do.. such a dynamic instrument. As I sit here with my Les Paul in my lap, thank you Gary for letting the energy flow through you. I hope it reaches me as I search night after night.
Think of the Band in Heaven he is playing with right now. I have a vision of God going up to Gary as he entered heaven and saying "Welcome I don't usually meet and greet but I'm such a fan of your work".
My God he was good.... The Groove he has on this song is legendary.. One of the best guitar players EVER... Damn he can play, its from the heart and that is whats special....
Pure utter emotion, missed greatly be people who knew and still know to this day that Gary was simply the best and there is absolutely no doubting that - RIP legend
