One of the greatest guitarists there ever was......the world lost a legend. Check out Still got the Blues, Parisienne Walkways, Story of the Blues, The Loner.......too many to list.
The year was 1990 date May 1 venue the Concert Hall in my city. On stage was Gary Moore and he did several encores and this was the final song. He played it with lots of improvisation and feeling that you felt you had gone to Heaven!! He left us way too early.
Gary was one of the greatest guirarists of all time, and with a sound that is unmistakable. His hugely long sustains, deep and amazingoly controlled vibrato, and pure tone set him above almost all others, and where most guitarists plug their guitars into an amp, Gary plugged his right into your heart.
Thanks Pat for doing this reaction, one of my favorite tracks of all time! Can't get the reactors here in the US to do it, most likely copyright garbage. Gary had so much talent, and his TONE was what really made him stand out, he had it perfected! A quick somewhat funny story. When my wife and I first got together, she had some lame ass country song to be "our song". I said hey, listen to this and played for her Gary's Parisienne Walkways and she fell in love with it, and all of his music. To this day, some 25 years later, I can have her mad as a hornet at me, and I'll eventually put that song on and she is sitting on my lap holding my hand! THAT is the power that Gary had!! lmao On a more somber note, she actually cried tears the day he died, because she never got to see him live, and knew then that she never would. A sad day for music, RIP Gary.
great reaction brother to Gary he was talent and then some. I've seen him twice and both times blew me away. check out ballads and blues and blues alive thrill is gone with the other legend b b King it's something else brother. Scottish fan ✊️👍🏴
One of the simplest songs you will never be able play with his emotion. Gary was a master at channeling his feelings to the fretboard... RIP to the master.
One of the most unregarded of guitarists. I saw Gary live a few times and he never failed to impress me. His feel and technique were always underscored with killer tone. He was always entertaining and fun. RIP.
Best Guitarist ever. Check out is rock stuff. His live recordings are immense. Shapes of Things, Empty Rooms and Military Man showcase his skills superbly. He blew every other guitarist off the stage in the 80's
Good one Pat Gary Moore great blues player like srv can make guitar speak 😀and he has great voice to go with his rigorous playing Thanks for that reaction Pat 😀🤙🤙
Oh man I love Gary Moore. For me personally, he is the greatest of them all. Others will disagree and that is cool, but his music means the world to me. You'll get suggestions for Still Got The Blues and Parisienne Walkways but can I please request the Live Version of Like Angels from 1997. That is one of my all time favourite songs (that no-one has ever reacted to) But as for Gary, his tone and skill are just incredible. I can, and many times have, listen to him all day long. Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but that guitar looks suspiciously like his Les Paul Standard, that was given to him by Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac) and that now belongs to Kirk Hammett (Metallica)
and now that I have finished watching the video I have to say I really enjoy your reactions, Came to your channel for the Nightwish and now you are doing Gary Moore, and from the way you enjoy both, you have great taste my dude.
Gary could make the guitar talk and cry at the same time! Very unique sound to other guitarists out there. Check out The Loner and Parisienne Walkways, top notch. Great reaction mate!
One off saw many times brilliant live gary could make it scream cry and that sustain unbelievable great guitarist beautiful sound be no more Gary's sadd loss rip gary 👍
It is a great idea to listen to both Roy Buchanans version n Gary M because of how they present this piece....their true artistry is the feeling n presentation. I am sure each could play the others version but art is your expression
I was intrigued by title.....and really pleasantly surprised at the music. Close your eyes and don the head phones....super. Thanks for stretching us to other genres.
You should check out the original by Roy Buchanan. Don't get me wrong, Gary is awesome and I love his playing but you should check out the guy who wrote it. Roy was amazing.
I agree with you. This version in no way inspires or impresses me the way the original does. Many who listen to this version probably never heard of Roy Buchanan. I get inspiration of Roy over and over. Less nuance, tone, and feel then the original which I have listened to and practiced hundreds of times over the last 40+ years . I will never listen to this version again. I guess I was anticipating something amazing and superior to the original. Probably not during my life time.
Please everyone go watch the original by Roy Buchanan. And then watch every video on him playing you can find (he died too soon and isn’t nearly as known as he should be given his talent)
Excellent choice Pat! I hope you’ll do his cover of Hendrix’s ‘Red House’ (that I sent you) because: 1) It’s his tribute to Jimi. 2) He can sing the hell out of it too. 3) His guitar playing on this song is just flat out phenomenal! Don’t forget to put Blue in the next one… where the hell was he? Lol
there is a video on youtube of an entire live show titled "gary moore live blues" 1 hour 37 minutes long. recommend everyone that comes across this comment to watch it, it will blow your mind.
Look at Red House, Parisene Ways. He had played this on “Greeny” Peter Greens old guitar from Fleetwood Mac and now the magical guitar belongs to Kirk Hammett from Metallica. Gary was one of my influences playing guitar and always a champion! Cheers! 😎🎶🎸
You must hear the original by the great master of the Telecaster guitar Roy Buchanan. From many of the comments all I have to say is many have not heard the original by one of the greats. When talking about tone, feel, warmth, soul, and making a guitar tell the story I would recommend Buchanan over all others. Covers by others that I have heard, thou OK, have failed to capture Buchanan's efforts
Gary is for me best of the best, I like David Gilmour playing too, but by my view is Gilmour so far not so skilled as Moore and yes, Gary playing with and from soul and this are huge bonus points for him
Brilliant guitarist. I like his stuff. You really need to do Satriani at some point. You might also want to check out Tina S. She is an amazing French guitarist and is about 16 or 17 in most of the videos. If you like the "fingerstyle" guitar, check out Gabriella Quevedo. Her arrangements are stellar.
If you want to see some good guitar work, not to match up with Gary, but good none the less. Look and do the reaction video for "River is rising" by blues counsel. The blues counsel is a band made of Christian musicians. There are 8 guitarist in that video each doing a solo.
There were two "legendary" guitarists here in the DC area...Roy Buchanan, and Danny Gatton. Sadly, in a really shitty shitty twist, both of them chose to end their own lives. Buchanan in somewhat controversial circumstance in the Fairfax County jail after a DUI arrest (something alcohol related if not actually DUI iirc), and Gatton shot himself on his farm in rural Maryland. I wasn't that big of a Roy Buchanan fan, but I saw him a few times. Danny, on the other hand, I saw DOZENS of times through the years. While not a "rock" guitarist, (much more country/Nashville/chicken pickin' style) he was so far in a class by himself that out of town guitarists of all types would come to see him by word of mouth, and leave slack jawed lol. There aren't a whole lot of good videos of him that really capture his sound but here's a couple: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mGGE4CrPvjU.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MS5XH84mmI4.html. They go back a few years lol, and the video quality is shite, but they're worth checking out. As for Gary, he's in my top 3 of all time...I don't need to say much more than that :).
Enjoy watching your reactions .. love Steve Ray and Gary Moore Keep doing your thing !!! I think you would really enjoy Parisienne Walkways by him .. if you get a chance check it out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vkUpfw4Hf3w.html
That’s just so wrong. No human should ever be able to play like that. Most other fast play are just having than selves showing off. there is none of that here.
