Commissioner Gordon was such a useless grump in the early films. I'm so glad they gave Gordon a chance to be a real character of substance who undergoes transformations as much as Batman and the villains. Oldman just rocks this part.
This man should have 5 Oscars by now. Just think of all the incredible roles he's had, including one's in just okay movies that his performance elevates.
You know why Gary Oldman is awesome too? He seems like someone who analyzes his characters WAY more than other actors. He dives into the character (much like Heath did) but he has done such a great VARIETY of roles. I personally like his villains (Zorg from Fifth Element and Stansfield from Leon) but he can play the 'good' guy equally as amazing. The scene where his family is held hostage (Dark Knight) makes you literally think that his family is held hostage because of him alone.
GARY OLDMAN WAS JUST PERFECT ACTOR TO PLAY COMMISSIONER GORDON👏👏♥️. HE IS SUCH A GREAT ACTOR AND MY FAVORITE AS WELL AS HE IS SO VERSATILE AS HE HAS PLAYED SO MANY ROLES.
I missed Gary so much .After harry Pooter fifth film a year already passed.I haven't seen him in the new film for long time. For me, he's the best actor.
He has always played the bad guys, but now he has become famous in the main stream for playing two really good hearted characters....Sirius Black and Gordon
Gary Oldman is one of the most versatile actors ever.I mean just looking at him now you wouldn't believe he played Sirius black in Harry Potter and Dracula in Bram Stoker's Dracula.
strikes me as the college professor type. seems like he's super awkward outside of acting but great in character (teaching/lecturing vs talking in passing for professors)...that's just how he strikes me personally..
Gary Oldman is an amazing method actor. I hardly recognize him in the movies i see him play, most noticably Sirius Black. However, when he played Gordon, it still took me a while to figure it out.
Oldman is one of THE best actors ive ever seen. With that accent coming from his mouth do you him to sound like a city cop/commissioner? OFCOURSE YOU CAN, HES GARY FREAKIN OLDMAN :D
I feel like Gary Oldman is one of those actors that never really hit super stardom because they are just too good at their jobs. It's extremely hard to find a Gary Oldman role that isn't totally convincing because he just makes it look so easy.
This man deserves praise as well I think ppl have been putting alot of attention on Heath Ledger's performance but when I first watch Begins I couldn't even tell that commisioner gordon was played by a british actor not an american. Now that I think about it the whole goddamn cast is absolutely phenomenal.
Not only did we see Ledger and Eckhart playing roles you wouldn't expect them to play, but also Gary Oldman. It was weird watching him act as a straight-up guy rather than some criminal psycho. Everyone really brought their A-game for Dark Knight.
I think its about time Gary a good guy like Gordan. He even said in an interview recently that he got tired of being cast as a main antagonist ages ago. I guess all the waiting payed off... Go Gary!!
You're totally right. If you look at some of the Dracula interviews on here from the 90s he really looks like he could be family. They both have the long face, the tall forehead, the hooded eyes.
The ending scene in Dark Knight with Gary Oldman being sorry for Two-Face and the showdown was an amazing performance, up there with Leon as Stansfield.
I love Gary Oldman, bu I have to disagree with his comment abuot not being able to get lost in the movie and always being aware of where you are. Every single time I watch this movie, the schene where he gets shot and they have to tell his wife that he's dead...I cry every time. It's so heart-wrenching. The acting, the modd, the music. It's just set up so well.
He means as an actor, which was the question. They don't shoot scenes in chronologic order, hence it's harder to get lost in the role for them. That is what he said.
Gorgeous man! You gotta love him really - though am i the only one who feels hes having to work really hard in this interview? Chuck keeps asking him closed questions all the time! x x x x x
