@6StringBassist thanks man, i havent noticed a huge difference in overall tone. the Plexi glass finger board does make it alot brighter, so i turn my mid and treble down some, also was playing some dead strings too...
@tsoumanis Yeah, i power sanded it to the inner paint. i wouldn't go any further than that though, the wood is pretty light and delicate. there's going to be some spots you may not be able to reach with your sander (i wouldn't use a dremel unless your pretty confident about your skills using one) so I started off by using 150 grit sand paper, then on to 320. I used a 2 THIN coats of lacquer to finish it off. (clean it w/alcohol before spraying) ---good luck :p
You sound great!!!!! I enjoy projects like this ... but the plexiglass thing ... never heard of it. You've gotta share how to do that. Thanks for posting!!!
@TheMrFunktastic2 yessssssssss i do (sound like the frog) hahaha, actually everyone says i sound like Owen wilson, so I'll have to do a wilson impression on this tube some time...thanks for the info 2
What type of plexi glass did you put on the neck and how did you do it? What gauge was the plexi glass? I've never heard of anyone doing that before. Very cool!
You sound like Kermit the frog. But kudos on your work on the bass. Looks real neat. Though I'm not really a fan of the plexiglas thing. To each his own, I guess :) Btw the 35 has a basswood body and the 1005 an ash body :)
