Don't remember exactly what size it was, you can always grab a set of calipers and measure your intake where they would go on, get a air pod just a smidge smaller if you can to create a good seal on its on. Hope this was somewhat helpful.
Truly humbled, thank you! its not for everyone thats for sure. We used a Metal Aging Solution for that tank, there's a lot of manufactures out there that make the stuff, the trick is to watch it carefully as it gets older by the literal minute> Id take a test piece of steel and play around with it first and get to see how it reacts to that before you go with the tank right? you can however, take some light grit sand paper with water and sand the harshness out if it gets away from you, then yes, Clear coat. hope that helps some.
There's no tank better looking than the stock tank. I don't know where the idea is raised that a peanut tank would look better. I think it's really ugly.
I know this is an old video but if your still around answering the comments I'd like to know where you purchased those flexible pod hoses that attach to carburetor. Thanks!
I'm still around and sorry for the late reply..those are infact Air Diesel Heater Tubing stainless steel (Google). I think you might be able to snag them off of Amazon. Hope that helps.
That kind of varies on what exactly your doing, I would reach out to Dynojet and tell them exactly what your doing, they can get you setup. elevation will have a slight difference in tuning your carbs as well, as in how much you adjust your fuel screw..hope that helps some.
@@bannanapancake thanks you too. I'm trying to get mine back on the road. I quit driving it because the tire tread was so thin you could see air in the tire. Then my health decided to say let's play catch up. This asshole has been riding motorcycles since he was 3. Fighting since 8. Is a gun lover. And has past times of white water scuba diving. (Warning it sounds really cool. I love it. But it is in the top ten of the dumbest shit I've ever done list and there are some doozies in that list) and enjoys driving the red car in the picture 200 mph. So I'm slowly getting it road ready after near 10 years of sitting with ethenol in the tank.
I’m trying to do the same thing on an 07 Honda shadow spirit 750. I’d have to incorporate a down pipe because of the stock gas tank . I also have a quarter inch hose that runs to my stock air box anyone know what that is ?
Me personally the tank sitting high like that and above the handlebars doesn’t look near as good with the stock tank. Even with it wide if you set your bobber up correctly it’ll look mean af 👌
I'm 19 have an 85 Rebel and you are completely right about them being bulletproof. My bike was pretty bad when i started working on it but the engine has never given me issues only thing i've had to fix is normal maintenance. Even with open headers my bike performs really well and sounds better than before lol. but i love your bike and wish mine looked similar.
making one soon hopefully it turns out half as good lol really shitty that the local used bike guy passed away recently he was a great guy and had a huge collection of parts
Yeah, that much more to keep your carb and screens clean and it can help with diagnosing to see how far the fuel is getting and moving, hope that helps
Hi Bannanapancake Ha! My brother, I am working on a sculpture of a Native who is flintknapping, and he needs some Native tools of Plains tribes. Would it be ok if I use your quiver as my guide? I love the beadwork! Rohnmillerart
Hey boss, great video. I’ve been building a 2002 shadow spirit 750 bobber with help from my buddy. When I bought it , it had the cone filter setup but was running badly (too much air). My buddy got me the stock intake/air box setup and now it’s running great but after seeing your video I realize we just had to increase the fuel flow to carbs. How would I go about “re-jetting the carbs and tuning them”? Please help with any info. The bike looks pretty ugly now and the peanut tank won’t sit right anymore.
Was thinking along the same lines. Can't stand the stock box on the side of the bike. Pods look way better. I've been working on a 2003 Shadow ACE. Too much chrome on the older bikes. Don't know which jets to replace the stock jets with, but will have to figure it out eventually.
Hey man, how’s everything going? Any updates on your bikes? I really enjoy your videos! The acid treated tanks and everything is enjoyable to watch! Hope you post more on your work, especially the bead work and all your ideas!
Hey, I appreciate the words man, I tell people in some of my videos to "not worry about sub'n to this channel" its not reverse psychology, I just mean it...haha, Im not trying to monitize off of RU-vid, Im pretty busy doing all the things I like to do. Sorry for the disappointment:/
It was my wife! haha, she just got a good laugh about that! she said..."It was this or noth'n" she wasn't lying:O Thanks for the Laugh, and I appreciate it, Bikes still run'n strong!
If you don't mind me asking, what mods did you do to the rear of the frame? Shocks, swingarm? This is the first Shadow "bobber" I've seen that I like. Rigid rear frames are apparently non existent, and other bobber kits I've seen for the Shadow 750 don't apeal to me. You got it right.
Charles, sorry for the late reply.. Well, I hope you're not too disappointed, but the rear is only lowered (via shock mount) everything else of what you asked? is stock. If I hadn't worked drywall and cement work in my early days? I might have gone rigid. I do Like them, but Ive also seen guys almost lose it on the road because of bumps. In my best Scotty Kilmer Voice...."Shocks keep the wheels on the ground!!" hope that helps.
@@bannanapancake yeah I've owned 3 rigids. All Harleys. They can be unsafe. The little 750 Shadow is the only metric cruiser I like to ride. The others have quirky handling of one sort of another. Thanks for the information. What you did to the bike really looks good. Sometimes people can over engineer a project when the results you want can be kept simple. I may not get to mod this bike though. Someone I work with wants to buy it. ☹️
@@charlesharper7292 - yeah, that bike is still going strong, gets some looks here and there, it’s definitely a bike tour either going to like or hate, and I’ve had both conversations! Metrics are reliable for sure, but I fully understand why a lot of people love standards as well.
@@bannanapancake I worked as a mechanic for Honda back in the 80s, and have now been working for Harley Davidson for 18 years. I hear it all the time, " if it ain't Harley it ain't 💩!" Man those people are missing out! There's too many cool bikes out there to go around with blinders on, and I won't be tattooing any of them on my body. I have 12 bikes, only 3 are Harleys. I do appreciate Harley Davidson history, but dig into Honda's history. Very cool. Thanks brother.
Every bike varies depending on what you do to it and I don't know the exact numbers on those bikes, but your probably get around 100-112 MPG on this bike before fill up. hope that helps
