Thanks for the comment Derek. Appreciate it. There are a lot of reasons we chose the Sting over some of the others. I have been watching this channel called "Sting Flight" (www.youtube.com/@StingFlight) for over 11 years, and was amazed what he was doing with his Sting. This guy Richard DeHaven posted a lot about maintenance and flying in his Sting. Then after reseaching a lot of planes, TL is one of the few that allows a pilot/owner to work on a lot of this on their own. And the POH (Pilot Operating Handbook) is what the FAA says a pilot/owner is allowed to do, so..... So far, I always changed my own oil, have completely renewed my brake system, new rotors, calipers, pads, and master cylinders, replaced tires, and have updated the seat covers in our Sting. Most manufactururers won't even let you change your oil, so TL is really cool in that regard. Also, I tend to like low wing planes since they are a little more "unstable", in the good ways, that make them more fun to fly. Low wings usually have a stick, like a fighter plane. High wing almost always has a yoke. Better for people with "large legs". In a high wing plane, the CG is like a pendulum that if you let go, will stabilize on its own, so they slower in movements, in contrast, a low wing plane, usually more, touchy, nimble and more sensitive on the stick , which I like better personally. Like you said, a high wing plane is definitely easier to get in, and as I get older, I will likely put a higher value on that. I could go on and on about reasons I liked the Sting, in particular, later version of the older, Sting S3. High glide ratio, conservative Max Load, GRS Whole Parachute, Avionics with Auto Pilot, Real Time Weather, Rotax reliability and 5GPH 120kn level cruise, cruise speed is vital for our mission... etc. Every person has a "mission" for their plane. Think about your mission, and it will help you choose the best plane for you. Cheers!

Thanks for the reply! As I research further the TL aircraft seem to be a tremendous value if I'm being honest. So far our "mission" criteria include cruise speed, comfort, visibility, safety, and useful load. Both the Sting and Sparker are fine examples. Obviously I could pick your brain for hours but I won't 😆. If you're ever near Lake of the Ozarks in south central Missouri let us know!

@derekbertz2832 - Yes, the newer TL's are really made well, awesome airplanes, but they are pricy. You can find S4's used for around 120k well equipped. (Trade-a-plane.com). Sparkers are too new to find used ones, but that may be my next plane. 175kn cruise pretty amazing. Right now, N234YP as at "SportAir" in Little Rock, Arkansas getting some maintenance done. Maybe I when we go pick him up, we can swing up that way. Let me know if I can help on your journey to becoming a pilot.
