Just did this replacement on a GE # GSH25JSTA-SS purchased in 06-07 ish. I followed the video instructions closely (great instructions, btw. thanks for that) and took my own sweet time. Start to finish it took ~90 minutes. I ordered the fan w/ the thermistor and it was the wrong one. (More on this in a bit.) The right fan for this model is the one w/ a connection to the light bulb. The only challenging part, excepting removing *everything* from the freezer first, was getting at a screw securing an inner cover above and to the left of the ice-maker auger motor. I ended up using a ratcheted wrench and lots of swearing. WRT the wrong fan part: I removed the fan housing assy and @ my workbench, I rewired the new fan to the existing harness. Strip 4 x 2 wires (4 from the harness and 4 from the fan) and some heat shrink tubing and it was ready for active duty. If you do this, cut the wires on each side w/ plenty of length; easy to tuck in post install. Post replacement, my fridge is much, much quieter. Hope this help someone.
you were supposed to say 'yes'. and then i would say 'then you you'd better go catch it!'. i actually just replaced my evaporator fan following this video. thanks for the help.
Don't know if it will continue to work. But I will keep my eye on it. My evaporator fan motor completely stopped. Has been for awhile now. I really didn't know what was wrong until I started doing research. But the fridge is about 8 years old and at first the motor would be noisy. At times it wouldn't work. But I got the notion last night to tear it down and take a look. So after doing this I got down to the fan and wiggled it and it started to turn on its own, not strong but a slow turn. So I sprayed it with some silicone and the fan started to turn with great force. I think I will keep a eye on it and if it goes out again I will replace. But it's been 24 hours and the fridge is extremely cold and it's producing ice. But knowledge is power and if it goes out again, I will replace it.
If the freezer evaporator has frost on it but not totally plugged up and the return vents are clean on the bottom of the refrigerator behind the crisper drawers the fan may be bad. The only way to know for sure is to check for power at the fan . On some models the door switch needs to be closed for the fan to operate. The fan operating voltage is 9.75 volts DC.
Can a bad evac fan thermistor keep the fan from getting power? I changed the Thermistor on this fan 3 yrs back,...Fan stop working a few days ago, .As of today the power was at the main board for the fan, so I changed the complete fan that comes with the thermistor. everything is running now, I'm just wondering if it might have been just the thermistor? Is there a way to check the Fan out of the fridge, Fridge and Fan I changed is about 13 yrs old
The evaporator fan should be running whenever the compressor is running. If you can hear the compressor running but the fan isn't, there's probably a problem.
Think my evaporator fan motor was fine but I changed it anyways. It didn't help in my case. My freezer side stays frozen and good as far as I know. My fridge side hovers around 43 degrees Fahrenheit. Unless there's a busted thermostat in the fridge side. I'm out of ideas
keng xiong That is typically the dormer that probably broke. It is supposed to open to let cool air into the fridge side from the freezer side. Most likely broke so it is in closed position. Happened to me on GE profile and solved this issue. If both sides not cooling to temperature more likely the freezer fan. Also happened to my fridge where fan was noisy and speed was erratic. If your replacing freezer fan also good idea to check defrost heating element on bottom while your at it. Mine was broken and only knew as I replaced fan so took apart fridge twice.
@@richp4198 I thought about that also. I stuck a screw driver into the vent to hold it open all the time. It does work better. The fridge side doesn't freeze and also just barely at my target temperature so I decided to leave it open all the time. Thanks unless you can think of a way it shouldn't be open all the time
keng xiong Check the damper to see if it is broken. The plastic damper flap is known to break which prevents it from opening and closing to regulate temperature on fridge side. Replacing that damper assembly will likely fix your issue. You can check by taking that part out and checking for damage. You can get to it from the fridge side. The plastic damper flap broke on mine and is a common issue.
My GE Refrigerator model GSH25JSTA SS is about 9 years old and the freezer is cold, but the refrigerator is warm. Does this procedure in your video apply to the GE model GSH25JSTA SS?
***** It is normal for evaporator coils should have frost on them. If only some of the coils have frost and others do not, there could be a restriction or another problem. @@repairclinic Thank you very much. One more question, if you don't mind. If the relay got burned after I put a new one, do I need to buy the compressor too or just changing the evaporator fan motor will do? The compressor gets very hot. Thanks again.
Mine is odd. GSL25JFXLB. The evaporator fan is running. I can feel the air in the freezer coming from it and see it spinning. The condenser fan is running. I can see the fan spinning. The fridge is not getting cool. The freezer is fine. The damper door isn't stuck or anything. I manually moved it open and cannot feel any cool air coming through it when the evaporator fan is running (it seems to be running ALL the time right now, but then again maybe it always does). There are no obstructions as I can put my finger through from the freezer compartment to the fridge compartment. Why can't air flow through the damper area into the fridge? Everything seems to be going fine. The only thing I can think is that there are maybe 2 evaporator fan speeds and it is only running on the slowest speed. Is that possible???

my veggies on the right side get froze ,.do you think is I change that it will solve the problem ? this is the model number GSH22JFA BB ...SERIAL NUMBER TR206020
Does anybody know the different between evaporators fan motoes WR60X10074 and WR60X10307 , they both are 9.75 volts D.C , 3.25 watts , and both have the thermistor incorporated on the wire harness, but the WR60X10307 its more expensive
+Simon Salgado The only different I see is that the WR60X10074 has 2 little red mark on the thermistor wires and the WR60x10307 has 2 little green marks on the thermistor wires, I dont know if that means anything !!! Does anybody knows ?
***** Some GE Monogram fridges come with an Inverter (variable speed) compressor and a DC condenser fan. I'm now repairing a fridge of these, but someone put an universal fan in a previous repairing. I want to know the original DC fan to put it in. Thanks.
