you did well packing light. No rainjacket? brave!! have a look at icebreaker merino. I tour with a merino shirt that looks good enough to go to a restaurant yet packs tiny, doesn't crease and doesn't smell if you don't wash it for a few days
Geoff Semon Thanks. Yeah, a merino shirt good enough to go out with in town would be solid. The shirt I brought just wasn't nice enough but I made due. Two factors for no rain coat: The forecast didn't call for heavy rain. It did rain on the first day but it was off and on. I dried up pretty quickly whilst riding. That said, I wanted to keep my pack dry hence the pack cover. The second main reason was our accommodations all had showers and a room to wash and dry our shit. Had I went camping with my tent I would definitely bring a rain coat.
Hi Tony. Thanks for quick reply. We're looking at going to Nova Scotia for about 4 weeks most probably in September when it will be a bit colder than when you were there. We don't camp! Not when it might be cold at any rate so we have been looking at accomodation along the way. We tour on a tandem so we'd most probably take about 4 days to ride the trail and take a rest day to do a bit of walking as well. Any recommendations for accomodation? how easy was it to buy food and coffee as you were riding around the trail. Cheers Geoff
