Using the old "Magic Eye" razor was a change for sure. I have one exactly the same as that one in mint condition, never used, case and all. The instructions say to place the "eye" on the cap directly against the skin when shaving, this attains the correct angle for a smooth shave. I haven't tried it! Paint the face with soap/cream, then scrape it off..😉 Lovely roses this morning, thanks Mrs H. Nicely done Paul💈💈 The Gem seems to have done the job admirably and results look positive. I will agree I have plenty of these single edge 30s razors and they do feel "rougher" I think it's because the blades are thicker and there's not as much flex or give in them when pressed against your face.

Great shave Paul, Lovely Gem Micromatic in gold that is, i have used Mr Natty shave cream it has a good slickness and very inexpensive take care and have a great week ahead 😃👍

G’day Paul. Long time watcher and first comment from me. Lovely razor that. I have one and use it often. I use old GEMS regularly. Good to see an SE in your repertoire! I’ve read the directions for that particular GEM’s use. Could I suggest holding it flat to your face? The circle on the head is to remind you to do that. not all GEMS have it. Generally speaking the GEMS need a 7 degree angle and DEs 30. (I feel like Grandma is being told what to do with the eggs). But the “Eye” GEM (the one you used) is an aberration amongst GEMS. I reckon you would have had no blood if you had done that. I hope you don’t think I am being a pain but I love the way you share your experiences to help others and I hope mine is of assistance. That razor is almost a century old and looks as if it were just bought from the store. Fantastic. I've yet to try any of my SE razors, not because I don't want to, more because I havent any blades for them because my DE razors do such a complete job. Lol. Anyway, have a wonderful week!

Roses!! Love them. Great to see you using an SE razor. Micromatics are built like tanks and give some of the best smooth shaves IMO. I don't remember watching a video featuring that shaving cream before. Have a great week ahead!

I tend to use pears soap as a pre shave for straights and shavettes. It does the job well....budget friendly too 👍

Good morning. Beautiful flowers mrs h. I like the shaves with these old razors. Always amazes me how well they work. This one looks like it would be aggressive. Did a great job. Sotd for me was an all proraso red shave. Soap, pre shave, after shave and balm. Used my pearl k2 with the short handle. Have a great wknd

That’s the nicest looking Gem Bullet tip I’ve ever seen. The handles are often pitted on this model. Did you have it replated? Have you tried any other Gems? I have a 1958 Gem pushbutton & 1912. They are fun to use & look so cool.
