Ernie, I have seen many Gene interviews and I have to say that was by far one of the greatest interviews of all time. Most interviewers ALWAYS interrupt and try it to relate the interview to themselves, but you are one of the few that actually listens and let's your guests talk without interrupting. Great job , man!
Say what you want but this man is a true success story. A great example of coming from nothing and having nothing but what his mother instilled in him. Drive, determination, pride, integrity, and just plain hard work. He is of a dying breed. Many of the generations after his are lazy, entitled, and just waiting for it to fall from the sky. Pay attention to this man if you want to be successful. Love you Gene.
@@frozenwarning ok sure let me break it down since you wanna propagate negativity and dismissiveness. I grew up living in poverty with a single mother. At the young age of 17 i took advantage of my environment and leveraged the in i had being a resident in a poor apartment complex and went to the office one day and said hey, i cant paint your units for you at the end and beginning of each month (when evictions and move ins happened). I had no idea what i was doing but used all of my time, set aside my relationships with friends (which was difficult being a HS student) and worked as hard as i could to make it out of a less then ideal environment. Anyone who shares a similar experience can relate to the story and advice from someone like gene simmons. No one wants to promote hard work, or sacrifice. Everyone wants the fast way out, or the path of least resistance. But in my opinion the path of least resistance isnt a path worth taking because the pay off of hard work and persistence is always worth it. That was the start of my lifelong career which still continues to this dayto provide for my family and is being passed to my children. If you wanna argue an opposing ideology of laziness, not working hard, passing up opportunities, having no integrity, settling for less, only having whats been given to you, not owning anything, not striving for more, I’d be very interested to hear your take on that.
I've had the privilege of getting to hang with Gene on a couple of occasions. This was back in the day when KISS was coming up, and it was just moments, but he was one of the most focused and together dudes I've ever encountered on my path. He deserves (and has earned) every penny his fans want to lavish on him. Just like the Pope and Santa Claus, there's only one Gene Simmons.
I enjoy listening to Gene, yes he can come across as an egotistical jerk but ultimately he's a good guy. Very intelligent man would have seen and heard a lot in his lifetime. He's right! everything's work? If you want something? you gotta go and get it! plain and simple!
Say what you want about Gene, he's a hard working individual who dared to live the life he dreamed. Which is why so much jealousy/envy/hate is thrown at him. Mosoltof, Mr. Simmons
I have seen dozens of Gene Simmons interviews.... and Ernie, you are one of the best interviewers because of how u let guests talk and ask great questions!
"It was a pleasure to talk to me"... Hilarious ! Being a Hungarian I am still amazed by the fact that he has not forgotten Hungarian which is one of the most difficult languages of the world. Good start when your mother is actually Hungarian... and still around.
I was a huge Kiss fan when I was a kid. Everyone would always think that I loved Kiss because of the cool stage show with pyrotechnics, makeup, and costumes, but that's not true. I did like that stuff, but it's not why I was a fan. I was a fan because I loved their music. When you're listening to a Kiss album, the stage show and makeup and stuff are not there. There's just the music. IMO they were very good song writers, especially Paul Stanley.
I like this interview, the interviewer doesn't interrupt ,I really like Gene brutally, honest and even tho arrogant at times,I like how his respect to his moms was,I like he finally admits his ways were not healthy as far as he and Shannon his family work ethic.he speaks and u cant help but get it Gene is awesome
I'm not talking about the 70s, I'm talking about now. Gene and Paul go out as KISS with two hired guns using the makeup that Ace and Peter designed. Either have Ace and Peter in the band, or have the other guys create their own makeup.
AMEN or LIKEWISE! Speaking OF "other guys IN Kiss, IN MAKE-UP," a GOOD, if NOT GREAT, example, are ex-members, the late Eric Carr and Vinnie Vincent (remember "Creatures of The Night?").
HEY 🥰 WOW GENE IS PURE INTERNATIONAL ROCK EXPERIENCE!!!!!KISS IS THE BEST BAND BRAND EVER MADE ON PLANET EARTH!!!!!! CANT WAIT FOR DA KISS CONCERTS IN MELBOURNE 🥰🥰
Gene always gives good... no wait the best advice and i've been using these principals for many years. I also am into music well actually i fluently play 20 instruments and have been very successful not just by playing but by being unique in what i do. On any level one tends to last if they've got something that nobody else has or can do... well look what Prince did... and of course KISS had something nobody else was able to do plus with the right timing thrown in with a lot of sweat. Ho many of us are able to be self made entirely without borrowing anything from anyone else. I've also achieved this kind of success but on a smaller level. Everyone seems to think the world owes them a living... NOT!!!! Anyways i'm on You Tube under Clark McCormack and have folks like "Shania Twain" "John Mayer" "ABC" looking at me but only because i've worked hard and listened to people like my Parents. Advice like Gene's has helped also. Personally i thank everyone who has believed in me no matter ho far i go with this "GOD" given talent. GOD BLESS!!!! ....Clark
Just regarding what Gene said about his mom. Fantastic compliment. That is where everyone should learn about humanity. Knowing you can forgive after what she went through... W😱W.
It's so easy for people like you to pass people off as "dickheads". Gene is far from a "dickhead". Sometimes he's a bit arrogant or selfish, but generally, he's a good guy...he often changes his attitude depending on what kind of interviewer is talking to him. He's loyal to his mom and loyal to his kids.
This guy, as well as Paul have been a great influence in my life. They’re an example of hard work, following your dreams and making them happen. And that’s apart from their music which I happen to like, but that’s another story.
This is the most humble I’ve ever seen Gene Simmons. I know he’s a very intelligent person, his usual self promotion in everything is a a bit off putting. This interview, not so much.
Gene: You said "fans kills musical industry" Common man, stop crying and start be smart: When the industry sells a cd with your music you earn just 1 dollar. Create a way the fans can download your music paying just 2 dollars and you´ll get double income than with the music industry
Gene comes across as arrogant because he knows he is right. Socialism sucks! Kiss would not exist under different circumstances. I love Kiss! First saw them with Rush in 1976. Changed my life! I knew anything was possible, and I proved it!
Gene is going to serve me, when my shoes needs to be tied, when my dinner needs to be served, when my garden needs gardening and when my tea need to be boiled, yeah, that’s what Gene is here for, before he 🔥in he||
Am very fond of Gene, he's a funny clever person. But I think he should keep his trap shut about money. Paul Stanley is much more dignified and classy in that regard. Ace too.
He never did answer the question on how he actually did it... he mentioned his mother working but never mentioned after an entitlement w/ allowances in teens... what did he do to finance it all? I don’t wanna mention what others are thinking between him & Paul. Ummmm i have a opinion but he won’t mention it.
When were Ace and Peter thrown out of KISS 3 times????? Ace quit KISS TWICE! Peter was fired once and then they let him go after messing up his contract....
Gene never invented the horns. What Gene did was the ASL symbol for "I love you" which is a thumb and two fingers stcking out. Dio didn't invent it eiter. It's an old italian womans symbol to ward off the evil eye. Dio just picked it up.
Gene's so called wealth o knowledge comes from 2 things: PAUL STANLEY and the bathroom book of 500 amazing facts. He can thank those 2 things for his entire career.
Actually, Carlos Slim is Mexican. He was born and raised in Mexico City. His parents, not him, immigrated from Lebanon. Gene, check your facts before you look into the camera, pointing your finger and impart falsehoods. Now you are a Jewish immigrant, not from the USA, since you were born in Israel.
You say "pretentious", i say an Egoist (not egoTist). That is his philosophy is (probably ) influenced by such figures as Max Stirner and / or Friedrich Nietzsche. Perfectly "valid" as far as philosophy goes. I might not agree with everything he says....but i dont agree with everything anybody else says either.....and i hope neither do you.
Gene really gives so much to charity, he really does. But he never talks about it. Not like kathy Lee Gifford. everytime she gives money, she takes a big picture with it
