Go to the 1:00 (1 minute) mark of the video and watch Gene's face and reaction when Ace plays those classic lead licks. He was impressed. It was almost like he was watching Ace to see how he would perform and then realized that he hadn't heard it played that way in years. He 'felt' it. Tommy can play the notes...but it is different when coming from Ace's fingers. Tommy is a superior guitar player than Ace. But these songs have/need Ace's touch.
FPChris Gene can still sing and play really good. Ace can’t do either anymore like he used to. Yes Ace was always a sloppy guitar player but he was the sound of KISS

Damn, Ace really ripped into that solo! Nice job. Gene's "singing" style obviously isn't as demanding as Paul's...he half sings/half shouts in a low register, but it's still impressive that he can bring it at almost 70 years old.
Actually, Gene's timbre sounds different to Paul's but a lot of his songs DO go into Paul's range, and Gene has done some stunning surprising work here and there. And yes, at 69, he's killing it.

I cried my heart out last night after the show’s Beth and Shandi, now these musicians legends are my family and my forever moments and childhood memories. I agree, Paul has lost his voice so bad that it hurts to hear him sing. Paul said in his book that Eric Singer helps out with a lot of the singing when Paul sings. Paul needs to just be present with the band and NOT sing. Gene has not lost his touch and if Kiss came to an end and Gene kept going using Ace, Eric Singer, Tommy Thayer and Bruce Kulick now and then, that would be way better.

Tate Thompson....sadly, criminally actually...it is the ego maniac who has been to date refusing to do a final 'final' tour......it's going to take ALL of Gene's will and force of a no brainer win win all round common sense argument to convince the once great front man Stanley who REFUSES to bring this generationally influential guitarist back....I mean fuck WE the fans but that's the reality....PS is the stopper on any final tour...power of veto.
I don't think Peter could tour. Drumming is far too physical at his age when not in touring shape, plus his wrists, shoulders etc. If they did decide to do something like a final tour with the original line up, it'd probably be 1-2 shows a week with a few days in between and maybe 20 shows all together.

Now this is awesome. I genuinely feel the guys were happy here. You can feel it. And the looks at Gene's guys smiling at Ace, like this was a bucket list moment for them. I was KISS fan even before Van Halen and on my LIVE show I talk about KISS a lot. Just happy to see this and hope more comes of it.
This is why I love guitar solos. Every now and then you look up and go "God damn, he just KILLED IT". And he did. That R and R All Night solo included a part I just played back three times!
Kiss fan for 45 years now...and those two songs sounded as fresh as they did 45 years ago. Ace slayed those solos and Gene face agreed with my assessment. IMHO, Ace is the sound of KISS...just saying.
Beano1eye...okay, okay, it was release around Easter 1975 if my ossified brain recalls correctly. My point was that mid-1970's sound is alive and well in this video...it is as fresh now as it was then.
They all do it to each other some weird thing they do. They all talk shite about each other but you can tell Ace and Gene are close just because how much Gene has him at his shows.

the point of being in a band is to make music. i dealt with that crap for years of not getting along with other musicians, before falling into "life" forever. it is a myth that bandmembers get along and are best of friends. i mean they get along to some point of course.
Not Sure Yes and he was very lazy, and drank a lot of alcohol to carry KISS’s equipment which is why KISS had to stop letting Ace carry equipment for KISS
The two of them together sounds better than anything I've heard with Paul in a long time. Plus, the interaction between Gene and Ace is great. They make a great team.

I know right. The makeup was cool in the 70s, and I love watching the old vids. But, shit, for the price of modern Kiss prices, I would so much rather go to this. Listen to to this, and then listen to anything between '75 - '79, it sounds the exact same.
It's pretty obvious to me Kiss is far better off without Paul Stanley. After reading Pauls book I now understand how much trouble he's created in HIS own band.
WTF? Without Paul, there would never have been a Kiss to start with, or to keep it going throughout the years. And Paul's book proves this over and over.
Primarily, Paul was the SONGS. He wrote more of them than the others, and many, many Kiss classics are his writing. The band likely wouldn't have made it without his material. That said, I would agree his attitude is off putting sometimes, and the idea of a Kiss *power trio*, with Peter and Ace getting their fair share of the vocals, is really kind of fun to imagine.

This was good. Say what you want about Gene, but that was nice bringing all of those people on stage. Ace still nailing it. Gene to his credit doesn't sound bad.
What a show!! Should be the new KISS going forward. A true dig towards Paul when Gene says: "I need your help singing, I'm 69 & have lost my voice!" Gene keeping it real.
Ace and Gene seem to be having a lot of fun in this! Even though they might hate each other, they're both legends! And when they play together, it's awesome!
This is gold - seen the show In Brisbane - you could close your eyes and it sounded like Stanley was singing on all The Stanley related songs - awesome to see Ace and Gene ripping it up !!!!
They sound fucking great together! Ace killed it. I always thought Gene and Ace didnt get along, but have recently discovered they actually have a decent relationship. And this is just great to see (hear)
I was at the Melbourne show and it was brilliant! I think Gene should continue touring with this band. The finale was Let Me Go Rock 'N' Roll and Rock and Roll all Nite. I am sure the guy standing next to Gene with the beanie and beard was at the Melbourne show too on stage.
I hear you mate, My brother took me to the moon and back every part of the earth to see these guys, he paid what ever it took, we saw them everywhere in every part Australia concerts, old days at Grace Bros lining up camping out for days, was very lucky girl in 1980 concert 🎵 used to stay at my family’s rich house in Sydney. As I was only turning 9. My brother family Saw Gene in a newsagent’s very early one bright Sydney morning buying a heavy mental magazine, he brought me a candy plus a grand investment which I never knew then, 🤘🏻invitations to the Sydney shows. We saw them come in by boats but I didn’t know him at all outside the make up in the morning haha 😂 Gene had asked my name. Has been the wildest ride ever since right up till last night. ❤ I said Hello Mr what’s you doing today lol …. Holly crap being at the right moment in that time. It’s such a clearly vivid picture
