Whew... yeah, sorry y'all. It's been a BUSY handful of weeks for me personally. But I did want to scrape some time together for Genesis Owusu's latest, Struggler.

Struggler is the second studio album by Australian musician Genesis Owusu, released on 18 August 2023 through Ourness.[1] In a press statement upon announcement in May 2023, Owusu said, "The struggler runs through an absurd world with no 'where' or 'why' at hand. Just an instinctual inner rhythm, yelling at them to survive the pestilence and lightning bolts coming from above. A roach just keeps roaching."[3]
The album will be supported with a world tour, across North America, Europe and Australia between October and December 2023.[3]
Kofi Owusu-Ansah (born 17 April 1998), known by his stage name Genesis Owusu, is a Ghanaian-Australian singer from Canberra. He is the younger brother of fellow hip hop rapper, Kojo Owusu-Ansah p.k.a. Citizen Kay. Owusu's debut studio album, Smiling with No Teeth (March 2021), reached the ARIA Albums Chart top 30. At the 2021 ARIA Music Awards he won four trophies for Album of the Year, Best Hip Hop Release, Best Independent Release and Best Cover Art (latter shared with Bailey Howard).

Is it me or is Crash really glowing in this one? It's almost like he is aging backwards and is more bright eyed these days. I love that for him.

"busy, that's where i've been" we love to hear it 👏👏 i got into Smiling With No Teeth a little late after seeing you feature it on your favorite 2021 albums - super talented and underrated guy! can definitely see Struggler go even higher on my own albums of the year. absolutely bombastic mix of genres 😁

If Genesis wants it, I think he’s just scratching the surface. So fucking talented and already one of my favorite current artists! Gonna see him live again in October!

I actually liked it just a little more than the debut because of it's more lean nature, but that's still 2 fantastic records under Owusu's belt. Made my Top 10 of 2023 for sure!

Pretty great album, I do prefer Smiling With No Teeth but this one is more bitesized and definitely enjoyable too, can see it only growing on me with more listens

I really loved Genesis’ first album, this one is solid but not nearly as memorable to me. I like the Old Man track, very poignant, very edgy. Balthazar was great as well, about the Black Wiseman. I think this is a record that will grow on me. If I had to have one critique, I’d say I wanted more stuff like Black Dogs and Song About Fishing.
